  1. Who buys anything from someone going to door selling stuff these days, other than a neighborhood kid hawking PTA, baseball league, etc. fundraising cr*p?
  2. My favorite wine I have recently discovered is a blend of 4 grape varieties from Chile called Escuda Rojo from a Baron Philippe de Rothschild vineyard. It retails for around $12-15 and has a complex, oaky taste.
  3. When they don't card you at the licquor store, grocery store, etc.
  4. I will vote no because I do not trust politicians to do the right thing with that kind of money..
  5. Please tell me what school this is? I have a child starting Kindergarten this fall. I will reconsider if it is where he is zoned? GROSS!
  6. Maybe that will keep so many people from moving out here if the economy ever recovers..
  7. A CON for maternity is hard to come by since its one of the most profitable areas for a hospital.
  8. Wow, and to think that when they announced this some years ago it was going to be 200 or so beds, then it was 100. Anyone know why this project was pared down so much? Was it the CON (certificate of need) process? Or cost? When I was in the healthcare industry, a quick and dirty figure was a million or so a bed to build a hospital from the ground up. When I was in the industry, we bypassed GA because the CON process was a bi***. You had to get a CON for acute beds, another CON for certain specialities such as heart, maternity and then another CON for certain pieces of medical equipment ov
  9. I got laid off in 2009 when 500K+ people each week were losing their jobs. I did the whole working your network thing and was told they were just trying to save their jobs and applied for tons of jobs, both in my field and those that I felt I could easily transition into based on my work experience, even applied for those I was overqualified for. Nothing. Six months later, 400K+ people were still losing their jobs each week and I was still looking. At that point, six months out, employers think there is something wrong with you. My field still hasn't came back, but I know tons of profess
  10. The last paragraph of the npr article said it all: "The Associated Press writes that the jobless rate declined "because fewer people searched for jobs. The official unemployment count only includes those seeking work." Indeed, the size of the labor force declined by 164,000 people, to 154.7 million, as the labor "participation rate" dipped to 63.8 percent from 63.9 percent in February (and 64.2 percent in March 2011)." As much as I like NPR for the Baroque period classical music they play, I prefer to get my economic news commentary elsewhere. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/us-ne
  11. From what I have heard, there are things that even prisoners find reprehensible, one being child molestation. He'll get what's coming to him in prison if he's in general population.
  12. Yet many people are not willing to admit that there has not been enough jobs in this country for everyone who wants one for decades in part to our elected officials.
  13. I remember one year the Paulding County Parade of Homes hosted by the Chamber featured homes of prominent Paulding business owners whose houses were in POLK County. They ended up doing it in conjunction with Polk Cty Chamber of Commerce. I'm sure there are not too many people who are willing to open their houses up to hoards of strangers.
  14. So when will the broadcast be for the scratch offs they were going to buy with the $15 or so dollars won at the beginning of the video?
  15. I think that is coming after they redeem the 25 they won for more tickets. Then there will be a communication about the 5000.
  16. Lol! How many players were in the pool, around 32? That's 156.25 a piece before taxes. Enough for a nice dinner out somewhere. Cool..
  17. WE could buy some Powerball tickets or scratch offs. If you do scratch offs be sure to go to the GA Lottery website to find out what the newest one's are and consider getting those. It seems a lot of the prizes are front loaded when a game 1st comes out.
  18. Article is for informational purposes on derivatives/Greece. I'm all for more regulations on derivatives. And yes it is the large investment banks that are makiing billions selling derivatives such as credit default swaps and then through the ISDA ruling that an event- such as the one with Greece where investors took a 50+% haircut on their Greek holdings and IT WAS NOT RULED A DEFAULT. And yes unless something is done about derivatives, we'll be in the same boat we are in now if not worse in 5-7 years max. The EU is currently to trying to do something about naked CDS. I hope Obama can get som
  19. A derivative is basically a financial insurance policy taken out by a party that has financial interest in something such as bond or a pool of mortgages, loans etc. in the event of a default (credit defualt swap) Problems arose several years back for example when the monoline insurers such as MIA, AMBAC and AIG were unable to cover losses incurred by banks, pension funds etc. when their investments in things such as commercial loans (REITS) and mortgage back securities as defaults rose and ratings agencies downgraded their ratings on these investments pools. They were unable to cover these lo
