  1. Please come to the next Board of Commissioners meeting next Tuesday. I understand they will be discussing a millage rate increase. Also contact you Commissioner and voice your opposition to a tax increase. I believe there is still time to get on the agenda for next Tuesday's BOC meeting to raise your concerns over the proposed tax increase or other issues.
  2. They have cut the budget but apparently are still projecting revenues to be below this.
  3. I think they will have to lay off people and still try to increase our taxes due to the timing of when the money would be collected from the increase in property taxes. I will be fighting the assessed value of my home considering the model home that was listed for $359,900 in our neighborhood has been foreclosed on and is now for sale by the bank for $229,000. I do not believe that my house has only gone down by $2000 since we purchased it in 2006 according to the recent tax assessors valuation.
  4. The millage rate for the schools is almost at its cap but I do not beleive there is a cap for the operating portion.
  5. Talked to a friend that works at the County and stated that the porjected 09-10 budget for our county is 4.5 million short. They are considering a property tax millage rate increase that would amount to about $200 a year more on the average house in the County or another ound of layoffs larger than the one back in March. This is supposedly going to get discussed at the BOC meeting next Tuesaday. i urge you to contact your Commissioner and let them know how you feel.
  6. Yes we need one. I wonder if it says something about the demographics that we don't have one?
  7. Bingo! I heard revenues at the County were down 2 million and expenses up one million. Yet the expenses to the airport continue. The County is responsible for a match amounting to 2.5% on FAA funds and more on GADOT funds. So if they are getting 10+ million from the FAA and a couple mill from GADOT their matching portion really adds up.
  8. It was very interesting that depsite the budget shortfall, Perdue's hometown area got millions for a horse arena. Budget shorfall or not this year it looks like Paulding will get the funding for the terminal in the hope that Paulding will have a shot and landing the company that previously had looked at locating here that would be bringing hundreds of jobs.
  9. There was a lot of discussions in political circles that the funding veto was in part due the issues between the gov. and speaker. It was also discussed after the decision was made that due to other factors that the gov. realized his mistake as it may have cost Paulding to lose out on a big opportunity- as in a business locating here.
  10. Those dresses are really cute. We'll have a new niece in June and a TBD one in December. I will keep them in mind.
  11. We drove by last year when you were out there and my son had the best time riding the pony. I'm sure he'll like it even more this year.
  12. I think our new leaders are a bunch of idiots. Appararently in making staff reductions recently they didn't bother to talk to the departments heads to understand what the staff did. It apparently looks they looked at titles and salary only. My friend stated that some remaining employees are going to be in a bad position because the people let go were the only one's that knew had to do a particular function, use a particular piece of equipment, etc. Of course there is no money for training. Customer service will be affected.
  13. Curious to what he thinks of David's actions so far including the layoff of long time County employees. I heard before he left he wrote every single County employee a personal note saying he enjoyed weorking with him. Hopefully Jerry will run again in 4 years.
