  1. There is always thigh highs and garter belts.
  2. Heck, paying the tax is cheaper than paying the insurance. Question is what happens if you don't have insurance, get in a car accident and are hauled into the hospital in an ambulance? Are you force placed into a policy?
  3. I think the days of built it and they will come are over. But if the tax incentives are really good, I can see companies coming. My question is, how competitive are the incentives vs those offered by others areas in other states? We aren't competing just with other localities in GA anymore.
  4. We say bring the revolution on in our HH...
  5. It sure would be nice to see Paulding land something big. I heard last night Mobile, AL is going to the home of a new Airbus assembly plant..
  6. It's time to secede from the union!!! What can the gov't force us to buy next???
  7. I'll never forget the gigantic tube mailer with the rendering of the subdivision that David Austin was supposedly putting on family property that he needed sewer run to. I'm waiting for someone to top that one.
  8. If that flyer wasn't bad enough there's www.billcorrupt.com that I heard about yesterday from 2 different people. After all the mud slinging between Heath and Carruth I think I'll vote for the 3rd guy.
  9. I saw something odd in my hood similar to what you are describing about 11pm one night. One large car sat there for some time as I watched before moving on.
  10. Yep, I agree about Jesus. I grew up in a Presbyterian church and as I grow older part of me misses the ritualism of church and I can always gleam something from the sermon. I personally like a high church experience vs. the superfun rock band church.. I believe there is "something out there" beyond the realm of what man's mind can really grasp-- call it God, nature whatever, and that we ought to give some deferrence to and that there is a higher state of actualization that man can ascertain to through conscious effort. I haven't fully decided whether whatever is "up there" is interested in
  11. That is one of the wonderful things about the Unitarian Churches I have attended. They teach children about all the major religions, values and morals and let the children decide... I am not a Christian, my beliefs most closely match Buddhism, I wish there were more choices of religions and denominations in Paulding, heck, its hard to even find a good Methodist or Presbyterian church to attend for my son's sake.
  12. There is some property by the airport that is zoned by default for a trash incinerator as there is little allowable use for it. Take a look at the Airport Overlay document on page 108 under Height Restrictions on the Zoning Ordinance Document under the Paulding County Airport Overlay.
  13. We looked at Ivey Hall when my son was 3 and just got a weird vibes about the place. Vinegar, that's just weird..
  14. Some good, non religious private schools and a Unitarian Church.
  15. Independent- I have lived in this county for 6 years and many on this board have lived here for decades. Many can attest to the fact that for years those in power drove away business from the county, deterred companies from locating here and those that did locate here were somehow connected to the good ole boys club and received the benefits that comes from cronyism and nepotism. We have a hefy dose of skeptism, rightfully so. I'm sure a lot of people, myself including, would like to be proven wrong, but it will take a lot. Some of the things I have heard to date on some of these projects
  16. We've had the occasion to be down in that neck of the woods a good bit and have noticed the crowd and have commented we should try it soon. Its about 20 minutes form our house.
  17. Skip the peanut butter and jelly and go straight for almond butter. Lay it on thick and enjoy or w/ a little nutella.
  18. Has anyone locally been employed on a project at the studio yet? Looking at the site there is no jobs area. I still don't see how this studio is a good use of taxpayer dollars when all this will do is hire people on a short time project basis. This studio will end up being like a boat-- with the two best days of a boat owners life is the day he bought and the day he got rid of it.. It strokes a few people's ego, like the airport but thats about it..
  19. We loved Ms. Ruby in infants and Ms. Anna in toddlers when my son was there. Great place and super clean.
  20. Yep. We were down in Carroll county this weekend taking pictures of property, homes this weekend for my hubby's job. His company is hired by banks to work out portfolios they acquired, some properties are current some are not.
  21. I'm questioning why I should even waste my time voting in this election cycle. All we are doing is chosing Corporate America's wh*res for the next 2,4 or 6 years.
  22. Lol! I really have no confidence left in this country, corporate america, financial industry, organized religion or politicians. If I won the lottery tomorrow- my plans would be no different- living off the grid and giving a F*** U to society.. We're saving every bit we can, and don't give a dime to corporate america unless we have to. I think a lot of people are so pissed off or uncertain that they are holding onto their money. Of course many people don't have the money to spend. We've got a 5 yo that we speak very candidly to about what is going on in this country, I only hope other paren
  23. We have Geotrax and Thomas. Geotrax seems to be going by the wayside. You can only find it at the Toys R us and the new trains only come with an engine and remote. The old ones came in two styles push and remote controls with 2 cars and an engine. My son was interested in Geotrax but now really plays with just the Thomas. Thomas has various plastic tracks with mostly motorized engines and the wood tracks. The motorized stuff seems to be everywhere-- Walmart, Target, etc. We don't have any Chuggington but it seems to be widely available at the big box stores. Of course, Toyr R us is going t
  24. Your post is encouraging to me. I was laid off in 2009 and my field is tied to new product/business development. Needless to say there hasn't been a whole lot of that going on. I'm starting to see some signs of life though. What a lot of people fail to realize is that there is a huge stigma attached to you for being laid off and after 6 months no one wants to touch you because you are somehow "defective" although the economy has been laying hundreds of thousands a people off a weeks for several years now. I have been caught up in the childcare conundrum for a while so drawing unemployment and
