  1. Please correct this poor woman's birth year. Everyone deserves to have their obituary correct. It is incorrect in the subject line.
  2. No. No roosters at my house. And if anybody from my family calls you, tell them you sold him. My inlaws have 2 roosters. Because it doesn't get really good and dark anymore, those stupid things crow all night long.
  3. Sargeant: Do you take this on the road to the local Boys & Girls clubs? I know they can use this sort of thing as well. Both the Dallas and Hiram branches have computers. Just wondering. Joann
  4. Contact Computer Rescue of West Georgia. They are VERY reasonable. They will come to your location to pick up the computer. The number is 678-848-7079 and they are in Hiram. Really nice folks. Trustworthy.
  5. I work in Midtown across the street from the High Museum. I ride the GRTA express route 477 at 6:30 am. I am USUALLY at my desk by 7:50. It costs $4 to ride the bus to work. I then run THROUGH MARTA, I don't ride the train, because the bus takes me right to the Arts Center station - on the other side of the High from where I work. I get a free transfer through MARTA. Then, SOMETIMES if the weather is bad (really cold or raining) and the bus gets to the Arts Center in time (by 7:45 a), then I can catch the local bus that takes me around the corner to the office. For $2 I stay warm and dry
  6. We have about 10 bushes that are over 6 ft. tall. They produce enough blueberries to sell, keep some for ourselves, AND feed the birdies! They are primarily in a shady area and are close to the lake water's edge. They are also in rocky soil - just a bit. I don't know about the male/female thing. Maybe GemMan can help ya. Look him up and send him a message.
  7. Why would they cause wildfires? You have to have fire to do that. The clippings (ie. pinestraw, leaves, branches) are already on the ground. I'm just pushing them into the woods. I live on 5 acres of land. Having the leaves on the lawn is almost the same as having them 15 ft. to the left under the pine trees. I don't suggest burning anything anywhere. Good grief!
  8. You can try ancestry.com. That will have census records on it. If he's still alive, then there would be a record of him from the census before the most recent - back in 2000. That will give you an idea of his marital status, and where he lives. Also, any other children involved. Good luck! P.S. If he's passed away, there will be social security information on him.
  9. Thanks for posting this information. But the people I originally wrote about don't subscribe to it. They would rather just burn their trash, etc and stink up the neighborhood and the air we try to breathe. But this was very helpful info, thank you.
  10. i don't mean that they should burn in the woods. I mean that the wood clippings can just get pushed into the woods. they're biodegradable!
  11. Everyone: PLEASE DO NOT BURN ANYTHING!! Those of us with breathing problems, sensitivity to strong odors, etc. cannot tolerate this. The weather is becoming increasingly warmer and we ALL would like to open our windows to let the fresh air in. We can't do that if somebody is burning trash or yard clippings. That really stinks up the air, people!!! Then it settles in the lower valleys all night long so we can't open up at night either. I think it's interesting that people who live in the WOODS even burn their yard clippings. WHY?????? Just push them off into the woods. Nobody will
  12. My experience: With our oldest who weighed nearly 10 lbs at birth, I could not breastfeed because it just wasn't enough. So he was on formula and cereal right off the bat. I still had to rock him at night. He did not like going to bed. I was rocking him until he was 2 yrs old. Now, with the triplets? They were born smaller - all around 5-6 lbs each. But I still started them on rice cereal at a week old. They were sleeping through the night early on. None of them cried at bedtime. I will have to say, though, that they had their days and nights mixed up for the longest time, so the swin
  13. Just because you LOOK white, doesn't mean you ARE white. Just because you look BLACK, doesn't mean you ARE black. Race isn't what COLOR you are. It's your genetics. Per Wikipedia: The term race or racial group usually refers to the categorization of humans into populations or ancestral groups on the basis of various sets of heritable characteristics.[1] The physical features commonly seen as indicating race are salient visual traits such as skin color, cranial or facial features and hair texture.[1][2] The term race may vary from country to country, changing according to specific cultures
  14. Not answering the questions on the census form will only bring a person to your door. And they will continue to come by until they reach you. They are very determined to make sure everyone is counted. This means YOU. Think of it this way: If your children or your children's children were working on genealogy and came across the 2010 census for you, all they would see is that 5 or 6 or whatever people lived in that home at that time. That doesn't help them when in the 2000 census there may have been 12. That will make them wonder who died? There are no names so they can't know. Th
  15. It's Fells (sp?) Naptha soap, it comes in a bar shape and can be found in the laundry area. It works like a charm for baby clothes full of spit-up and formula!!
  16. Wonder what your kids are going to do during the summer? If you live in Hiram, they can go to the Hiram branch of the Paulding County Boys & Girls Club. The clubhouse is located at the Hiram Ruritan in the old firehouse location and is only open during the summer months. Parents: This is a safe place to take your school age kids. The club directors have bicycles for riding on the Silver Comet, they have access to the Ruritan field, they'll make new friends , and it's low cost. If you're interested, please call Mr. Kevie Dixon, Site Director, Paulding County Boys &am
  17. While I appreciate everyone's responses to my vent, I have to still stand on the fact that this rapidfire shooting was going on ALL DAY. I don't think they were sighting their weapons - they must have had an awful lot of them to sight! This is very loud gunfire which means it is right behind me. But, no, not where I can see the house. It's just loud. This summer when they do this, I will not be able to open my windows all summer. I don't think that's fair. To answer your questions: Yes, we've spoken to the authorities. We've called them on someone alot closer doing the same thing
  18. Oh, wait, it's GoldCreek Trail. Not GoldMine! But the sound is actually coming from the road between that and Hiram Sudie - Rich Davis Road.
  19. It's actually right behind me and the street that runs parallel behind me is Goldmine Road. I think Cochran Ridge may be able to still hear it because of the wind. Well, darn! You mean they would have to actually DRIVE somewhere in order to be a bit more respectful of the people around them???? My answer to that? Tough SH**!! *No disrespect to you MsGAStorm. I just wish those folks were reading this, but clearly they are not.
  20. I've seen tv programs and news stories about people killed while in their own homes because of stray bullets in neighborhoods. Some idiot is practicing his shooting, and the bullet goes through a kitchen window. I stay on the other side of the house from the shooting and I won't go outside. Stupid, huh? But I get so nervous around this. It's constant. Rapid fire.
  21. Question: Is it legal to own a semi-automatic rifle? I know morons can shoot outside the Hiram city limits, but it has gotten ridiculous. The shooting has been going on all day. It is rapid-fire. This person takes a few minutes down time to reload and he's off again. I have to keep my windows closed on such a beautiful day because he's right behind us. I can't even take a nap. I pity his neighbors. I don't know why these people can't go to a firing range. If they can afford all of this ammunition to just waste away, they can certainly afford to go to a range. These people are r
  22. Painting? My son has his own business and does painting. If you want his information, PM me.
  23. The most important passage I can think of (and I am not a religious person at all): JUDGE NOT, LEST YE BE JUDGED. I cannot tell you how many times I've come across so-called Christians who try to tell me how terrible I am because I was christened Episcopalian so I'm a heathen, or because our son is gay he must be sick. I believe that what goes around, comes around. If you are mean to people, eventually you will have crap dumped on you too. My two cents...
  24. First, it's not me. Second, we live in Hiram. We called the police because a neighbor was shooting his gun/rifle/whatever all day long on the weekends. It was making us jumpy. Every now and again, I'd hear something fly through the trees. The police officer said there was nothing we could do because as long as he has a license for the weapon, he can shoot it in a neighborhood setting like that. The neighbor said he was shooting into a pile of dirt. I think he went off mark a few times. Anyway, the police said there was nothing we could do. But I made sure that I was not happy about t
