She used to share an office with Dr. Desai - in fact, she was the one in the room with me when I passed out on the treadmill (not her fault, of course - it came as a surprise to everyone <g>). I must have scared her out of Cobb County!

I like my cardiologist, but I have no idea whether he's a low-carb or low-fat 'Nazi,' since my condition has nothing to do with diet. First mistake: using FedEx to begin with.

I've been gone nearly three years now, but we never allowed an older sibling to sign for a younger one unless that sibling was the court-appointed guardian. 'Responsible adults' usually took the form of DFCS workers who were accompanying children who were wards of the state. Although I didn't encourage the practice, there were parents who would show up just long enough to sign permission to test, then leave their son/daughter with [whoever] for the actual test. IMO, parents should be there from start to finish in case their kid doesn't pass and the examiner wants to discuss the test with

(And as a private note to those of you who support socialized medicine, pray that you never develop a rare disease such as the one I have.) Prayers for your sister-in-law and her family.

Hmm ... I'd be interested in learning where she was taught to think of it that way. I grew up hearing 'icing' to describe the sugary mixture used to cover cakes from both grandmothers and my great-grandmother. Their icings were as thick as they spread them, but they weren't 'fluffy,' like the whipped toppings we tend to see on store-bought cakes these days - they actually tended to harden a bit. And glazes were something you *poured* over a cake, not *spread*.

The moral of the story: Never say 'never.' I'd be curious to know why your fiance considers an engagement ring important - to me, that's significant. Most guys wouldn't care one way or another. If y'all can hash that out, maybe a solution will present itself: a nice stone in a cheap setting that can be reset into a necklace later, for example.

My husband and I both have health conditions that could necessitate a call to 911 at any time. Until I trust a cell service to give emergency services our *exact* location, we won't give up our landline.

A lot of small businesses seem to ignore their social network sites - it's not only commerce members on here. I know that the owners/operators are probably busting their buns to keep things going, but *everyone* has a little down time somewhere in their lives, and it doesn't take that long to update a status or post a message. If nothing else, deputize someone to keep up with those sites and at least respond to basic inquiries. There's no point in having those contact points if you're not going to interact with your customers.

'Ignore' is a marvelous feature - I highly recommend it.

Maybe a couple of years ago - I remember the news story. When their enrollment dropped, they could no longer afford to foot the bill for running all of those lights. Five dollars is a VERY reasonable fee, IMO.
