  1. OK, either they have changed the website, ir I am just getting more senile. I have gone to the paulding.gov website before and found links to go into some kind of archive and bring up copies of the BOC meeting minutes from years past. The only thing on the front site of the website is 2009. Can anyone get me a link to the 2005 minutes ??? I would be grateful.
  2. But I am afraid if you check a bit further it is a computer image only. It is not a real machine. Still is neat to watch it.
  3. Wasn't he a Defacto-lobbyist for 2004 through 2008 when the county was paying him $6000 a month "To be our eyes and ears under the Gold Dome"? I never did understand what made that arrangement any different from being a lobbyist other than he got paid his legislator's salary to represent half the county downtown, and then he got paid another $72,000 to represent half the county downtown. I wonder which half was which ?
  4. Maybe I did not make myself clear. I thought I did. I met with David Austin our new chairmand in early March, after he had been in office long enough to get his footings. We also spoke with Tommie Graham, the other new commissioner. Both were in agreement to see about have mediation with us. Please feel free to question either of these gentlemen about this. Since 6 weeks after Mr Austin took office, an additional $51,000+ has been paid to Holland & Knight for legal fees in our case. However, according to Mr Austin and Graham, the previous 3 sitting commissioners voted against any
  5. See, from where we sit, the FACT the county has spend $800,797.16, not including charges for last week's waste of time, is just absurd, if not totally incredulous. Over $800,000 and not even in the courtroom. I can imagine how many $Thousands$ it will take to select a jury. If you doubt those numbers, do your own Freedom of Information request to David Austin's office with a copy to Tabitha Pollard. I don't ask them to make me hundreds of copies or any BS like that, I simply ask for the updated totals paid to Holland & Knight in our case. But in addition to spending such a ridicul
  6. Thank you! Our point in posting is reminding all of you taxpayers how you are paying the funds, to go to Keith Wiener and Holland & Knight, who then funnels hundreds of thousands back into the various Political Action Committees they manage for close to 50 Georgia politicians. Old ones like Jerry Shearin, as well as Richardson and most of his "Rat-Pack-Buddies". Looks and appears to be a racket. Lawyers have a bottom-less checkbook from the majority of the BOC to litigate at any expense, just to protect one of their private developer buddies whose insurance company provides his attorne
  7. No, Parks & Recreation [and the Trail Foundation] are responsible for looking after the SCT. And Parks & Rec's budget has nothing to pay for the repairs last I heard. Of course, on a personal note, the county manages to keep paying outrageous amounts to fund their lawyers in our lawsuits. I guess it is a matter of priorities.
  8. For those defending the county, just what are you supposed to do when bull dozers start unloading on your property and knocking down your trees ? The sheriff and marshall will do nothing. New survey at $2000 6 weeks before. They simply pulled up the stakes. Correspondence from PDOT informing us not only was our right of way to be maintained, but since it was changing from an overall 60' ROW to a 50' ROW we would get back 10 feet more since we donated 45 of the original 60. When the bull dozers were done, we got back nothing of the original, and they simply took another 2-1/2 feet o
  9. We met with David Austin, last March, shortly after he got settled into his new office and asked to sit down with the BOC in informal mediation after finding the BOC had already spent $749.000+. We also spoke with Tommie Graham about mediation. We were told my David and Tommie the other 3 previous commissioners would not agree to sit down and mediate. Since that time the county has paid out another $51,000+ to Holland & Knight. We would have settled for far less than what they have already paid, but instead it seems they want to protect all of those who are, and were involved with
  10. Last January we requested via the FOI laws, the totals on what the BOC had spent with Holland & Knight to fight Melissa and I in our lawsuits against the BOC, Mickey Womble and his company Contour Developments concerning the rape and pillage of the property around our house/land off Palisades. As of last January 31, 2009, the BOC had spend just over $749,000 to litigate against us to prevent stall and do everything possible to keep us from getting out day in court. After David Austin took over as Chairman, we had a meeting with him and asked about having a mediated settlement with
  11. Skewered chicken hearts grilled, which have been marinating for 2 day, and I will then braise them with a redwine reduction. Cole slaw on a bed of fresh lettuce, and maybe a cheese and garlic souffle' since I have 6 dozen eggs in the fridge and I am doing my low carb routine. And either a nice chianti or a cote du rhone, after my dirty gin martini on the rocks whilst cooking.
  12. We have found soaking in a brine works best for chicken and turkey. Overnight is best though, and you can add all kinds of flavors to the brine. 1 cup of Kosher salt per gallon of water. Dissolve the salt in hot water, then put in a cooler or other container large enough for the bird. Ground pepper, brown sugar, cloves, rosemary, what ever suits you. Fresh herbs do best. I save old wines which I was not found of, and pour them in as well. Rinse good before cooking, and rub with whatever herbs or spices again. No hole poking necessary. Brining is a chemical reaction that pushes the maxi
  13. Christianity is a religion full of traditions, symbols, various feasts, and much fan-fare which has little or no connection to modern day society. The Catholics are in the middle of Advent right now, full of symbolisms.....the different colored candles on the Advent wreath, the greenery, and more. So what is the problem of still using a written symbol which to express Christ which is very much a standard tradition. To me, if you really, really have problems with that, they you are more into wearing your religion on your sleeve than in your heart.
  14. CA, How are all the birds ? Let me know if Gog8tors ever gets in touch with you about the birds she wanted. The big poultry show is at the World Congress Center the last Wednesday/Thursday/Friday in January. If you could make arrangments to come down there about 2:30 that Friday afternoon January 29th I think I can fix you up with a bunch of stuff to help you with the birds. My problem is I already have a car full of people and their luggage I will be responsible for getting back to here so I have no way to haul anything. But, I can obtain a clearance pass for you from one of the boot
  15. Well, I guess I will chalk this one up to a "Live and Learn" sort of lesson. I have, on occaision, access to some chickens that you cannot generally obtain on the open market. I did numerous posts, updates, keep current info on when these birds would be available, etc. I committed to buy "x" number of hens and roosters. I sent our notifications 2 weeks ahead, then 1 week ahead, then days ahead, as to when the birds would be arriving. EVERYONE who committed to buy birds was in contact with me, but when the dust settled, I got "stuck" by one for no big amount of money, but I
  16. Do the rabbits sit quietly for their trim or do you have to tie them down ?
  17. GoG8tors never sent me a phone number. I have them down for 5 hens and 1 rooster, which are sitting on my front porch in boxes and need to be collected tonight. They will need food and water in the morning, and I have no means to provide them either. I have a group I can "donate them to" at a church, but since I Paid for them I would prefer to sell them as agreed. Hello Gog8tors?????? unourroll ? And honda07.....if you want birds, it looks like I have some available. Send me a pm......
  18. We were set up, unbeknownst to each of us. A quasi-platonic girlfriend invited me to go up to Chap's in Sandy Springs and listen to Jerome Olds and Tom Grosse play jazz. Mary picked me up, and away we went. We were sitting at a table, and in walked this stunning, attractive lady, with LEGS up to there, and such a beautiful face. She was wearing a purplish-blue silk [short!] dress, and I remember thinking, "Too Bad I am here with Mary or I would do my best to meet her". Well, this good looking thing walks over to our table and say hello to Mary. Mary introduces us, and a few m
  19. We are not sure, but we think this was #25 for us. And I believe #10 for myself as a participating Rotarian. Crowd was a bit thinner this year, but then again, 40 degrees is a bit chilly. And there were 40-50 fewer floats, mainly the commercial floats and church floats went missing, and I assume that is a sign of the economic times. Not many horses either. The clean-up crews will be happy about that. I realize we did not have a "Speaker" to stand on the Grand-Stand and review the parade this year, but was that the reason we had no Grand-Stand either ? Just seemed kind of strange
  20. OK, chime on in. There have been numerous threads and topics about the fallacies concerning our carbon "Foot-Print", and of course, Global Climate Warming. I came up through the times of the original save the environment; with many steps taken to curb pollution, reduce man-made chemical loads on the environment, returning wetlands to their native states, etc. etc. The College I attended in North Carolina had a campus divided by a beautiful lake, which for all practical purposes fall of my Freshman year, was DEAD. There was little fish life left with any diversity, and most of the l
  21. Here-Here, and I agree. But I don't think you will get the Ex-Speakers proponnents to budge at all....for them he can do no wrong. Literally caught with the knife in his hand dripping the blood of his victim lying dying on the floor....the Richardson defenders would be blasting the victim for impaling themselves on his knife!
  22. You asked, and I answered. I think close to a quarter of a million $$$ is more than sufficient to emphasize my point. And considering the broke tax payers of Paulding have spend 4 times that much just to keep us out of the courtroom, I think we have more than justified our position, and our point. I guess you won't be happy until you get the blood of the first born on top of the $200,000, right ? You asked why, and I answered, and then you have to go and get FUGLY on top of that ? Been a rough day hasn't it BB? Your beloved icon has crashed and burned. But live goes on.....
  23. I already put my money where my mouth was in June of 2006 when I sued the Paulding County Board of Commissioners for allowing Lani Skipper, as employee of Vinson, Talley, Richardson, and Cable AND as County attorney of Zoning Fraud. My wife and I have spent over $200,000 pursuing this litigation over the past 3-1/2 years. During this same time, our Board of Commissioners under Jerry Shearin approved $749,254 in legal fees paid to Holland & Knight [as of january 31, 2009] to defend the county and the developer in our lawsuits. We have not done another FOI record request since Frbruary o
  24. I can't help it......I have to ask... does anyone know if Hiramgirl happens to work for Atlanta Gas Light ?
