  1. When we bought our place, we had 3.25 acres. We gave up a little under an 1/8th of an acre to the county for right of way [we gave up 45 of the 60 feet]when they extended the road across our frontage. When the Palisades development started, they changed the total right of way from 60 feet to 50 feet and told [via an email from PDOT] us we would get 10 feet of our front yard back. Instead, the developer simply took it, along with 2-1/2 feet of Our right of way. So now we have less than 3.125 acres. We actually used to own the first 2-1/2 feet of the front yards on the other side of the
  2. No one with pending litigation either. Guess they don't care to see any video on Channel 16 with discussions or questions concerning why they would keep on running up legal charges, now exceeding $800,000 in litigation between citizens and the BOC with a local Developer, with the BOC picking up the bill. Yes, that is a correct number. They have spent in excess of $800,000 to litigate citizens to try to keep them from getting their day in court.
  3. I am glad I could help you guys out. Sorry we could not get you some more nests and drinkers as well.
  4. I was greeted this morning with a screen stating NTDLR or some other nomenclature "Not Found", press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I did the F12 trick and noticed windows was looking for a USB Device to boot up. I changed that to the onboard hard drive and got a windows log on screen, but it would not accept my password. Finally got logged on as administrator and changed my password and got my desktop to come up. And a little window pops up to inform me that windows had installed a new security update during the night and had restarted my computer. But a good 90 minutes shot not to
  5. Eating our of the larder tonight. Smoked sliced pork loin with a jar of my world famous Brunswick Stew and cole slaw. Red wine of course.
  6. And the timing could not have been worse. Jammed the 3rd toe into the corner of a tile shower at a hotel in Mexico in the dark. Limped home on it but was dreading what I knew was coming. I was already confirmed to be leaving the following week for 6 weeks of working in Australia and New Zealand. The doctor did the popsickle stick/adhesive tape deal, taping the broke one to the good on next to it. And sandles. It was spring time downunder so that was not too bad.....other than the walking in airports and visiting customers with sandels. Then when I finally got back to the states, I
  7. I am just pleased wings have become so popular this year. Because of industry wide cutbacks in the USA on poultry production within the past 12 months, wings are now selling for more than boneless skinless chicken breasts. Prices hover at the wholesale level between $1.50 and $1.75. Now if we could just figure out how to manipulate the genes and get a legless chicken with 3 or 4 pairs of wings we would be in really good shape.
  8. Unless they have changed it, Brasil made any use of a cellphone which was NOT dash mounted in a car illegal years ago. You can use one if it is mounted to the dash and they have systems which has a microphone in the visor, and the earpiece comes through an FM radio channel. You can talk on the phone, but it must be hands free.
  9. Leftovers. We had a semi-crowd over last night to celebrate granddaughter's return from Mexico, and I had a friend lay a bunch of Latin veggies on me Friday. Soooooo BlackBeans with pork and epazote Basmati Rice Cucumber pieces with cumin, cayenne and limon Jicama and corn salad Roasted Tomatillo salsa Stir fried onions, bell peppers and mushrooms Chicken Enchiladas Fajita skirt steak, rare, grilled Tortillos Cheese Pineapple and Jicama chunks with ginger, brown sugar, and limon
  10. Give the critter swimming lessons. Funny thing though, I have never been successful in teaching one to swim.
  11. You don't suppose this might have been because I told them I wanted them to put a public vote for or against mediation on the agenda do you ?? Local level, state level, federal level. I am incredulous at how obscenely corrupt it all is.
  12. You don't suppose this new rule enacted last week would be in any way address at me do you? The BOC now will prevent anyone who has pending litigation against the county from publicly addressing [on camera and then aired on comcast channel 16] them. Hmmmmmm Guess they want to keep the over $800,000 they have paid to the Holland & Knight lawfirm in our litigation as quiet as they can, especially while they furlough and cut services to the general taxpayers. Got to have the priorities straight now. I did hear that correctly on your newscast didn't I Pubby? :angry2
  13. I believe the King lives on the wrong side of 61 to be in district 19....thankfully.
  14. Has anyone announced they are planning to run yet?
  15. When the drought hit hard and we went on water restrictions we modified one of our "Former" gold fish ponds in the courtyard to a 100 gallon collection basin, and I ran a new PVC drain line from the washing machine to the gold fish pond. I have a sump pump in the pond with a hose. We use it normally to water all the plants around the house. If not drained right away, a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of chlorox will knock down any septic odors. Now that we have LOTS of rain again, we are still leaving everything as it is until at least spring. I just let the hose drain into the shrubs downhill from the sep
  16. Pete Seeger is 90. And he had a hell of a birthday party at Madison Square Gardens. Joan Baez, Roger McGuinn, Dave Mathews, The Boss, Kriss Kristopherson, Emmy Lou Harris, Arlo Gutherie, Richie Havens, and a great deal of good music from more modern performers influenced by Seeger who I did not know. One hell of a lot of white hair and grey beards. And they could still all play and sing well. Seeger at 90 was amazing. His mind is sharp and the gravel voice brought back fond memories. And these guys smoked how much dope ? Go figure.......
  17. A Pork Project bestowed on The Facility Group by Jerry Shearin, and post commissioners Kirby, Powell, and Ragsdale. In turn, The Facility Group "bestows" substantial political contributions back to many of our current and former politicians. Nice huh ?
  18. Skewered chicken hearts grilled, which have been in a nice marinade for 2-3 day. Left over lentils, deviled eggs, and sesame vinegar cole slaw. Nice aussie red wine to wash it down with.
  19. Seriously now, where do you draw the line between pork, and reasonably projects funded by the STate, good for the entire community ? I have no problem with the airport, at think it could be an asset to the county for economic development. But you need the industrial space available for prospective business concerns to move into. From what I understand the IBA is bankrolling the airport terminal while we still have no good industrial/office parks to move into. So the money which could have built the terminal from the state got pissed away, and money which could have built spec industrial/offic
  20. You have a serious problem which will get much worse with the weather we have been having. Past years has not been cold enough to cause the heaving. This year is different to say the least. Water is getting under your pavement/concrete, and when it freezes this hard, with temperatures in the teens, the ice expands and forces the pavement up. When it can't just lift up, it cracks, and heaves. First thing you have do is to find a way to stop any more water from getting under the concrete, and this could be a huge challenge unto itself. If you can get my tonight, you may be able to addres
  21. So then why did King Jerry and company build the damn airport if they had no funding for finishing it ? Just piss away the FAA money for condemning and building the runways to then not finish it ? My point is not that the terminal was "Pork" anymore than the Senior Center, the Silver Comet, or the West Hiram Parkway. All of those were worthy projects which State funding helped underwrite. My point was what did Richardson do for us in his years as our Representative and as Speaker ? Murphy and Nathan Dean did indeed help get us funding to build worthy community oriented projects. CTC is
  22. Not necessarily. I expect our representative to be out there lobbying for any and all state monies to help fund projects here. Richardson did not do that. He was successful at getting $4million for airport building "un-funded" when Sonny line item vetoed them because Richardson pissed him off on some other issues. The loser ? The tax payers of Paulding who have to step in and pay for the terminal building. Bear in mind until this past January 2009, Richardson was getting a $72,000 per year retainer to "Lobby" for Paulding on top of his salary as our Representative and Speaker. In that ol
  23. I would say go for it. Don't sell yourself so short on being able to do a better job than the predecessor.
  24. I guess it would get him out of the hotseat of balancing Paulding's budget. But then when and how do we go about replacing him?
  25. Latest rumor from downtown is that David Austin is considering running. Anyone have any info on this tidbit ?
