Merles is my favorite "for-sale" BBQ that I've tried around these parts. I haven't tried HH. I don't care if HH is a hole-in-the-wall place or not; I can't tell from this thread if it's still open for business. I inten' tuh give 'em a try tuh-marr if'r' open fer bizniss.

Please, is the Hickory Hut closed for business or not?

Is the Hickory Hut still open, or not? I'll be able to give it a try on Friday the 5th. P.S. I'm a BBQ snob. I'll know the score as soon as I get within smell'n distance.

The way I see it: A religion is a cult that enjoys widespread popularity. A cult is a religion that does not enjoy widespread popularity. Other ways I see it: - A cult brings bad public relations issues to religions that share some if not most beliefs of the cult. - A cult is the religion of those people who don't believe what I believe. And too, why morn for the loss of these children? Surely they sit with [G]od today. ...Right? -

Debate: Are Closed Circuit Cameras Effective in Battling Crime?
smitty replied to Gabriel's_Mom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Nope. Nope. Nope. Not there. Where's the beef? Where is the 'it's all Bush's fault' in this? Oh! There it is. I guess the current president just hasn't had the time to make all that right again. I mean he is going to make it all ass frontwards again...Right? WIll Congress not let him fix it back? WIll the Senate not let him fix it back? If this president--you know, the one with the power--the one whose Party is calling the shots--has fixed it and made it all right again, I guess I just missed it. -

I've camped there at Daniel Creek several times. That roar is a beautiful noise. It was so cold there one night; and the wind was blowing so hard down the river that the spray from the rapids (I suppose that's what is was) was freezing and zooming across the camp. The glitter was surreal...and beautiful.

For whatever it's worth: I prefer to stop at McDonalds...McDonaldss...McDonaldses ...the ones that don't have the play things. One day, I volunteered to go up into one to help a lady get her kid out and I'll never forget it. I doubt it had ever been cleaned out and to this day it probably hasn't been cleaned out; I don't really see how it could be cleaned out. It's easier to say no to the kid when they don't have one. I'm a suspicious thinker, and so I wouldn't be surprised if they're going unused because of experiences similar to the one I had. Hello Ananymous Users!

news break! what a shocker! McGwire admits to taking juice

...That Polish athlete that was a hermaphrodite or something like that? (That ain't genetic engineering, but I get your gist.) IMHO, they looked for, found, and put to use, naturally occurring oddities. Didn't the revelation of these oddities lead to the technical definition of a male and a female? -

The fans who have a problem with juice-use enhancement are going to sh*t bricks when genetic enhancement comes along. The only thing that will stop genetic enhancement is it possibly causing fewer ticket sales television commercial sales. If enhancement actually increases sales, the very direction toward enhancement itself will be enhanced. There are some very-very big technological changes coming in the next two decades. Genetic manipulation is coming; it's inevitable. Most technological advancements have strengthened economies to this point despite the dooms-day sayers. When people -
This was written about ten years ago and is about 90% truth. The description of the sleet's depth might be more accurate than what I've already posted. I guess I've taken too much liberty from my enthusiasm for snow. The Redneck Sled Ride ***Cliff Notes*** -- Teenage country boy does stupid thing and breaks his leg. The people living in the area where I grew upNorthwest Alabamawere treated to a very rare winter event back in 1982, when I was 15 years old. That year it sleeted nearly six inches! The weather conditions during those few days were such that the temperatu

The '93 storm tapped very rich Gulf moisture, sort of Tornado-event style. Your pic perfectly illustrates it. This "event" will have a little bit of the cold but nothing even remotely similar to the available moisture that the '93 storm had. We lived in NE Mississippi in the '93 storm, but we left there to go stay with friends in NW Alabama where about 3-6 inches fell. I remember the thunder-snow in the '93 storm; it was crazy to be outside in the night in the nearly total dark of blizzard conditions when the world lights up from lightening. I'll never forget those flash-like images of

I lived in NW Alabama then; I was 16 yo. It might have been in 1983, but I'm pretty sure it was the winter of 82-83. About an inch of snow fell at first and then about SIX-TO-EIGHT INCHES OF SLEET on top of that. It was like the sky had poured ice cream-making salt all over everything and it stayed on the ground for a while. There was a very short warming spell after it all fell and then it got very cold. The effect was to transmute all those pellets of sleet to a nearly solid sheet of ice. It must have been a truely rare winter event for anywhere in the world. Virtually every chicken h
