  1. I think the Acworth Buffalo's has free kids meals on Sundays after 2:00 ish.
  2. I used to do cute little crafty things. Now that my kids are older and their presents are fewer and smaller I have started giving them clues. For example when one of them gets out of bed they might find a sign on their door that reads, "Bundle up! It's cold outside!" So they go to the coat closet and find a present. Inside that present could be another clue that reads, "Don't forget to clean up after yourself." So next to the trashcan they might find another present with a clue and so on and so on. This has lasted up to two hours before. More expensive presents mean fewer pr
  3. Good story. I hope their marriage is smooth but contains just as much humor as the engagement. Congrats to your brother and fiance.
  4. Some we hide but some we know about because we have to work together to make sure we get the right thing. Even if we know about them we aren't allowed access until Christmas.
  5. In my family Santa's gifts were never wrapped but there were a few gifts wrapped that were special and from my parents. In my husband's family gifts were all wrapped. Gifts to each other were wrapped in pretty paper and gifts from Santa always had pictures of Santa on the paper. In our family -- Santa never wraps.
  6. Congrats on fulfilling your dream. I love to see positive things happening to people. By the way I still need to pick up the zebra rolling duffle from you if you still have it. It was the one with red trim.
  7. Today in the mail I recieved a Christmas / Thank You card from someone whose name I didn't recognize. It was the dog gromer at Pet Smart! It was hand written. She addressed both my pet and myself by name, and she said how much she appreciated my business and enjoyed taking care of Phoebe. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't even know her name. But now, I'll never forget it and you can bet she'll keep my business.
  8. The goal you need to set for yourself is to "focus." Focus on the positives of having a job versus not having one. Focus on doing your job to the best of your ability and tune out negative comments. If someone gives you a hard time, just smile and know that whatever they are complaining about will not matter 20 years from now. Focus on doing the best you can, and knowing that your positive efforts are helping to support your family. When you force yourself NOT to focus on the negatives you'll find your day gets brighter and your tips get heavier. My tip to you. Keep a couple small
  9. I haven't seen them in local stores but then again I haven't been looking. I pulled up "santa hats" on amazon.com and they have quite a few different colors, teams, etc. Don't let ordering online scare you. I ordered something from Amazon last Friday, had it shipped regular mail, and I got it yesterday.
  10. You are right. They cannot take stuffed or plush toys or dolls with hair. They can take plastic (non-pourous) or metal toys that are easily sanitized. The basic rule of thumb is that the toy needs to be able to withstand a dishwasher.
  11. Good morning. This is exactly what I need. The rain will help me resist the shopping urge and keep me at home to clean house and do laundry. I'm looking forward to a very productive day. On your mark, get set, let's go!!!!!
  12. I'm right there with you. I love this time. I just came in from the back porch. I was sitting by the outdoor heater, sipping sumfin and watching my white buck shake his head back and forth at his doe and fawns. I was cozy and cool all at the same time. It doesn't get much better than that.
  13. You are sooooo right. And, it works just as well in reverse. As a diner, I try to always address the wait staff by name. I've found it results in far better service than the norm. You must have made an impression on that barista. I'm sure it was a positive one.
  14. My cousin's son has lukemia. He's 5 and having a really hard time right now. He doesn't come from a needy family but I will be glad to pass your offer on to his parents and they can share it within their support group. I'm sure there are many who would benefit from your generosity. Other options are to donate the toys to the inpatient pediatric playroom at Kennestone or Children's healthcare. My daughter was in Kennestone for 2 weeks and most of their toys were video games and stuff for older kids. Good luck and I will let you know if my cousins are interested.
  15. Easy -- Memories A book telling your kids or grandkids about your childhood, loves, firsts, friends, weaknesses, strengths, traditions, trials, tribulations, and joys. By the time my grandmother was in the nursing home I had already heard all her stories (multiple times) and I loved them every time I heard them. Since she could no longer write, I asked her questions and recorded her answers. Later I transcribed her stories, recipes, and advice into a book for the family. It is my anut and uncle's most beloved treasure. When my grandmother passed away some of the stories were rea
  16. Oh honey, I am all over that! Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! I bought a regular pecan pie from Bumble Bee about a week and a half ago. It was very good. I just love a slice of pecan pie with my coffee in the morning. I've decided that starting with pecan pie and coffee or sweet potato pie and coffee is a recipe for a good day. When you try the sugar free pecan pie let me know how you like it. For the past 4 years I've mady my sweet potato pie with Splenda instead of sugar and didn't tell the family. Nobody mentioned a difference. I'm not sure if it's much better for them but I know it
  17. Honey, during that time I cry because some stranger saved 10% on their insurance by switching to Gieco. As far as Frosty, no, not really. I cry when our real snow melts. I LOVE that time with the kids.
  18. Oh No! Do you know if the one on Canton Road is closing too? Are they just closing that location or is the whole company folding?
  19. Be patient. It'll pick up. Everybody's shopping and digesting leftover turkey.
  20. Probably just leaves. There's a couple houses on Cedarcrest where they're burning yard rubbish.
  21. Pie crusts. I bought everything for my pies except the crusts. Pet Ritz here I come.
  22. I haven't shopped WalMart online but I've shopped Target and loved it. The shipping is free as long as you spend $50.00 Also, Old Navy, Sears, and JCPenney have great online stores. Don't forget to look at the clearance tabs! We usually go roaming instead of shopping on Black Friday. We let the kids search and make a list of the things they want -- sometimes they even take pictures. Then we go home and order it online. That way, we don't have to wait in any lines and don't have to worry if we can't find the exact color in the store.
  23. Now that we've seen GaGa and J Lo, I can say I much preferred to watch J Lo fall on her butt as she jumped off her "boys".
  24. For several years my Father In Law has raved about the 1970s, TBS, Super Bad Party Ring commercial. He swears it's the funniest thing he's ever seen and that his life would be complete if he had a copy. I would love to download a copy to a DVD but I can't find one. I've looked on YouTube, Google, and I've even e-mailed TBS. If one of you computer genius sleuths could find this I (or at least my Father in Law) would be eternally grateful. TIA. 'Sho is BAD!
  25. Much, much better than Twilight. I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
