Garth was the beginning or at least the heaviest influence on the style we call "modern country" and it changed what is considered "country". Have landed and took off from St. Maarten in a 757. While the island and runway are small the approach is over water where Paulding's (whatever the sheet on the sign says this week) Airport's approach is over hills and trees, scarier to me than SM. The takeoff (when I was there) at SM does head toward a volcanic mountain but really skirts the coast more than direct over land take off. Not a pilot or even a frequent flier, but Paulding's location in the side of a hill makes me nervous.
