  1. The only thing that worries me is they're playing on a short week after an away game on Sunday. The Aints only beat us by 4 so there's hope for us, but the short week is concerning me. Also, Asanti Samuel hurt his shoulder and missed last week's game, then landed hard on it this week--twice, the second one being when he intercepted the ball in the endzone to keep the Bucs from scoring and winning. I'm hoping his shoulder's fine because he's one heck of a defensive player!!!
  2. My SIL still says "creme rinse" instead of conditioner, but I chalk that up to her Yankeeness rather than age. I say "Dude" all the time and try to quit but I just can't! Aerosol hairspray and hot rollers.
  3. I have a Kindle Fire and the only thing I don't like is you must keep a credit card on your Amazon account even if you have a full gift card on there. I'm so used to iTunes, where you can load iTunes cards all day long and be fine. When I got my Kindle for Christmas last year I went to download a free app and was given an error message that I needed a credit card (for a FREE app). I loaded the Amazon.com gift card on there and still had to put my credit card on file before I could download anything. Grrr.
  4. I just looked at it. I hadn't heard the top-secret stuff, just that it was to relieve traffic congestion going into Douglasville and avoid the trains. So the guy at Ace Hardware lied, huh? Like I said earlier, I was just curious where this all started. I'm fairly new to Pcom and see the references to the tunnel and remembered hearing about it from someone else, so curiosity got the better of me. Maybe Fred's is their secret headquarters where all the agencies meet. . .
  5. What about just a good work ethic in general? That's probably something that needs to be instilled at home, but needs to be reinforced in school (high school) or even the company orientation. I have my dad's work ethic and it drives me crazy seeing so many kids, mainly in retail/customer service, that don't care. I'm never late to work unless there's something weird going on (car wreck blocking the intersection, red light malfunctioning, etc). I worked somewhere where I had the longest commute of anyone in the office and was still the first one to show up every day; my counterparts were at
  6. It was nearly midnight--baby was up late--and it's dark here at midnight.
  7. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I really was just wondering where this originated.
  8. I've seen your signature line and can't even begin to imagine that pain. :'( If I were you, I'd put up double the decorations and do it in memory and in honor of your precious little ones, but everybody has their own way of coping. I've got two kids, one 11 and one baby, and I just can't seem to get into it yet. I even watched the end of "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" last night, got home just in time to see my favorite part (what happened in Whoville they say, is the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day) and it just hasn't hit quite yet. I'm still looking for a job
  9. I was in front of someone on Brownsville Rd who was eating a bowl of cereal. Not a granola bar or Pop Tart, but a full bowl of cereal. She had it in a white styrofoam bowl and white plastic spoon so it was very easy to see. She held the bowl in one hand, spoon in the other, and the side of one hand on the wheel. She was behind me from before 92 to the Brownsville Connector. She'd take a bite, chew, and even drank the milk from the bowl! She was swerving all over the road and nearly rear-ended me once when the car in front of me stopped suddenly. When she got into the right turn lane, sh
  10. Prayers for the family. She was known, directly or indirectly, by so many in the community and her presence will be missed.
  11. The tunnels are often used as the butt of jokes here on Pcom, and I was just wondering where that rumor originated. I was in Douglasville several months ago, at a hardware store, and the guy working there told me they were building a tunnel parallel with 92 starting at Burnt Hickory and going into D-Ville right at the little Baptist church. Just curious where all this started and how it spread so much.
  12. Probably shouldn't have read this late last night before bed. I live very, very near one of the "sightings" and it's pitch-black around my house and I'm always hearing something in the woods around us. I haven't seen anything yet, keep telling myself it's just deer (see them all the time in the neighborhood and even in our backyard) but now I'm going to look out for something bigger. Actually, I did see Sasquatch once. He was leaving Fred's to go work on the tunnel.
  13. Read me, read me!! I don't think you're nuts. My grandfather died when I was in high school but I wasn't home with the family--we were in LA for a band trip. My grandfather would always hum softly to himself and it was something we'd laugh about when he wasn't around. Well, I was in LA, in the bathroom alone (I'm not the kind to share a bathroom while I'm getting changed, especially back in high school!) and I heard him hum. I looked around and of course was by myself. I shuddered and kept getting ready and continued the trip. When we got back home a few days later, my parents told me t
  14. First, prayers for the family and the church community and the driver. He was charged in the accident and arrested. Regarding the age limits, my step-father-in-law is 75 and has his CDL and is a long-haul trucker driving a semi from Detroit to Arkansas once or twice a week depending on the pickup schedule. He's one of their best drivers with an outstanding record!
  15. I always try to give as much notice as possible at work, mainly so I'll be guaranteed the week off. I had to take a week's vacation last year from Wednesday to Wednesday because there wasn't a solid 5-day week open. Where I worked, if one person had that day off, nobody else could take it. They'd open the vacation calendar at the end of December for January-March, then in February they'd open it for the rest of the year. People would accumulate so much vacation time that everyone was encouraged to take random days off just because, so that really made it hard to plan a solid week! Hubby i
  16. When my oldest was 4 we were in Wal Mart and he was pitching a fit because I wouldn't get him a toy. I was in the checkout line, next to unload, and let go of his hand to reach the order divider and off he goes. I shoved my buggy out of the way and RAN and caught up with him halfway to the toy section. I was terrified and thoroughly peeved and he was still mad. I finished checking out, once my pulse returned to a normal level, and did not let go of his hand until he was back in his bedroom. We had a loooooong talk, my hand did some talking to his butt, and he never ran off from me again.
  17. Wow. So glad you and your family are safe, so sorry you had to endure this. Keep your faith strong and you will be an amazing example to so many who doubt God's existence. Prayers to you and your family.
  18. I found a website last year, forgot the name of it, but you can upload your child's first name, state of residence, activities they do, goals they've reached, favorite color, and picture. You get an email from Santa with a link that directs you back to the website and Santa has a personalized video to your child. He reaches into his magic file, into the Georgia file and pulls out your child's name and picture pops up. He tells your child how proud he is of them reaching their goal and encourages them to keep up their activities and nudges them to achieve a new goal (you pick this--it can be
  19. Also forgot Polar Express. There's a fairly new one on TV (within the past 3 years) that comes on ABC--Disney's Prep and Landing. I love that one and make sure to DVR it if we're not able to watch it live. It's too cute. It's about the select elves, the prep and landing teams, that go into the houses before Santa departs the North Pole and makes sure the house is ready for a quick delivery. They extinguish the fire in the fireplace (can't have Santa with a burnt tush!) and open the stocking wide and make sure the milk is at a safe drinking temp and make sure no kids are still awake. Keep
  20. A former coworker's immediate family was a Lifetime movie (mom had affair with teenage daughter's boyfriend, seduced him, he killed the abusive dad, went to jail, turned against mom, mom went to jail). It was in Kennesaw/Acworth. I've seen the show once or twice. I'd wondered how accurate the movies are compared to the actual events that inspired the movie!!
  21. My dad had both of his done (about two weeks apart) at Marietta Eye Clinic in Marietta. He was shocked how well he can see now. He's back to 20/20 vision. He didn't realize how bad his vision had gotten with them. His only complaint is he now needs reading glasses but uses the cheap $1 drug-store ones off the rack with the low-power Rx in them.
  22. I have a Pandora and a Brighton, hubby got the Brighton at Judy B's in Dallas. He takes my oldest son and they both get two charms each for me. He likes Judy B's for the small-town atmosphere.
  23. Pirate. They're very fast and very reasonably priced.
  24. My question is--how to HECK do you, the police investigating a missing child--FORGET to check the computer completely??! They searched for direct online searches and certain search engines, how do you "miss" one? Aren't there supposed to be computer forensics experts who can trace every keystroke and even recover deleted files from a computer? Somebody messed up.
