Looks great, wish I was that creative. I got engaged at Ruth's Chris in Kennesaw--be nice. They went above and beyond for our special night. Hubby had let them know when he made the reservation. He'd bought a dozen long-stemmed red roses in a vase and took them there before he picked me up and they arranged them on our table before we got there, we were in a booth in a nook and not in the open, they brought complimentary ravioli appetizers, and after the waitress saw him down on one knee she came by and took our picture and we got complimentary champagne. The maitre d brought us a Ru

I have several teacher friends and a principal and school nurse all on facebook so I may just ask them.

I can see locking the doors and requiring the buzzer after the school day has started. My oldest son's old school had electronic check-in for visitors and all doors were locked except for the one closest to the front office. They could see everyone coming in that door and if you didn't check in they'd redirect you into the office. You had to check which student you were there for and as you were printing your visitor tag the camera on the computer took your picture. You had to go back and check out electronically so they'd know you were gone and not still wandering the school. There needs

They might just leave it up to the individual teachers. Different grade levels and age groups will be able to comprehend different aspects of it. My oldest is in 5th grade and I can talk to him about more of it than if he were in 1st grade. Teachers know their students and what they are comfortable telling them.

Wow, hope you feel better and get over this soon! I never broke a rib coughing, but this time last year I got bronchitis and was coughing so hard and so much that it triggered vomiting, which triggered dehydration, which led to several hours in the ER getting IV fluids. The next day, 12-23, I had a regular OB visit and was still sick and dehydrated. Midwife sent me to the labor and delivery triage for fluids and observation and I was having contractions and had to get two shots to stop the contractions (I was 29 weeks) after 5 bags of IV fluids. So, no broken ribs but premature contraction

Go Falcons! Woo-hoo! Keep it up!! When Turner can find a hole to run through he's great, but when he's trying to run up the middle he gets stopped. Jones makes great plays when he's on, but misses great plays, although he's been better this year than last year. If Jones can be more consistent with making the great plays it'd be amazing! Gonzalez can't retire this year but it will be awesome seeing him in the hall of fame. He's a very smart player. He doesn't just run blindly with the ball, he looks at his options and will stop to see what the defender's going to do and change his route

I worked with a doc who followed the 5/10 day rule. He wanted symptoms for at least 5 days with no improvement by 10 days before he'd prescribe antibiotics. That way he could rule out viral infections which aren't touched by antibiotics. Wash your hands, plenty of rest, lots of fluids. If no improvement by Friday or if symptoms worsen (i.e. green nasal discharge or coughing green mucus or fever) call then. Feel better.

Um, they're trying to get their own reality show. Real Housewives of (insert city here) ring any bells? It's been said that women need to rule all the countries. There wouldn't be any wars, just a bunch of jealous countries not talking to each other. Well, the US and Italy would be nice so we could continue getting their food and shoes, but you get the picture. I don't know why women do that. It's probably the same ones who did that in school and they never change. Cliques start in school and morph through college and even into the workplace and it's a mentality I just don't understand.

Yay! Congrats! Don't let anyone try to belittle his education either. I am an LPN with a technical diploma from North Metro Technical College (which has now merged with Chattahoochee Tech). I worked with someone, she was the front desk person and I was one of the nurses, and she made the comment that she'd never let her kids go to a "community technical school." She basically said that it's useless and anybody can do that. Mind you, she dropped out of college so she doesn't even have any post-secondary degrees or diplomas, and she's saying that my education is worthless. Her own daughte

Maybe she wanted you to fill up the car and bring it back so she could go buy your Christmas present.

There does need to be more support, more research, more acceptance of mental illness. The negative stigma needs to be dropped NOW. I know situations like this only hurt the mental illness image, but if he had been able to get the help he needed and could easily manage whatever disorder he had then this might not have happened.

What did the doc say it was? If it's a dry, ticklish cough then that and the sore throat can be attributed to post nasal drip, which an antihistamine would help dry up. A decongestant would help with the congestion. If it's nasal congestion try Afrin but STOP THE AFRIN AFTER 3 DAYS, if it's chest congestion a decongestant cough med would help. If there is problems with high blood pressure DO NOT USE THE DECONGESTANT!! Saline nasal flushes are always great to flush out what's in there, such as a Neti-Pot or Neil Med Nasal Rinse (same concept as Neti Pot but a squeeze bottle so you control

That's how the Colorado movie shooter's mom found out--a reporter was at her house in another state asking if her son was the shooter. It sucks that the dad had to find out that way. I didn't know what happened until 12:30 when I checked my facebook at lunch. I'd been running around and hadn't seen or heard the news, so it's entirely possible that dad didn't know either.

What Can We As a Society Do About These Horrible Tragedies?

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Guns do make it easier--ever heard of a drive-by stabbing? Guns aren't needed for mass killings, either. Timothy McVeigh used a rental truck full of fertilizer and killed over 100 people, including children, and the 9/11 hijackers used box cutters and 3-inch switchblades to kill 3000. Assault weapons and automatic/semiautomatic weapons have no need in the general public's hands. Arming all teachers and principals--um, no. I'm pretty sure there are teachers and principals who are against guns and wouldn't want to carry one, and it's more dangero -

I read the title of the thread and thought Captain was talking about his Friday night! LOL I'm still a fan of Super Mario 3. Can't really get into the PS3 and X-Box stuff. We do have a Wii and I like Mario Cart and the Wii Sports that comes with it. -
My dad has a 12-gauge for hunting, a .38 police special for protection, a rifle for hunting, and a gun that was his dad's. He's used the hunting rifle once and they're all locked in the gun cabinet in storage (except the .38) and I knew about them and respected them and didn't touch them or even the cabinet. I didn't even know about the handgun being in the house until years after I'd moved out. Hubby has a few pistols, couldn't tell you what kind, and his grandfather's rifle (sentimental reasons, they don't even make that particular ammo anymore) but they're all locked up, unloaded, and ve

I got a $200 secured MasterCard as my very first credit card. I'd had no credit in my name and needed something to establish credit and needed a credit card for an upcoming cruise. I mainly used it for gas so I could pay it easily. I kept that thing for 9 years. I'd gotten married at 20 and had no credit cards and only had the house and a car, both of which were in my name and my ex-husband's name (his credit sucks) so I couldn't get a regular credit card. They work just like a regular credit card, you just pay your credit limit up front. It helped me out a lot because I was able to get

Hey, did you know that we really are getting smarter

Wasn't trying to be a Spelling Nazi but it just struck me as funny given the context of the thread. I usually keep the spelling/grammatical errors to myself. In some ways we are getting smarter given the technology that surrounds us all. In some ways we're getting less smart given how little we have to think for ourselves today. We used to have to know how to use encyclopedias and dictionaries and thesauruses but now we just google it or ask Siri. -
I would have either slapped him or burst into tears if someone, especially a guy, had laughed at me without telling me why when I was pregnant. Between the "you SURE it's not twins? How about triplets?" and the unwanted belly rubbing and the Santa references I was not a happy camper during my pregnancy. How do you make a Kleenex dance? Put a little boogie in it.

Almost to prove their point, the wrong "there" was used. Just struck me as funny. -
Movies that shouldn't have been made in the first place--anything with Adam Sandler or Will Ferrell. Just saying.

I got dyslexic and tried the reverse. Didn't work so well. But your idea is pretty cute!
