New building outside of Hiram...a stand alone something
J'smom replied to NEWTOHIRAM's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I thought it was the entrance to the tunnel. -
He thinks it's funny and says SHE is the one making it up to get back at the football team? Let him be assaulted and urinated on and have a humorous commentary about it posted online then see who's laughing. Is this the same case as the girl who was gang raped at a party (she, too, was drugged and it was recorded) and when the rapists pleaded a lesser sentence, the victim posted their names on her Twitter and was arrested and charged for violating the terms of their plea deal. She's facing more jail time than her rapists. Rapists should be dropped off on a deserted island with each other a

Anyone work for Wellstar and participate in Healthstart last year?

How in the heck do you manage to get an interview? All I get is the auto-reject email. -
Want a really obscure one--how about "Kentucky Fried Movie" for an oddball cult classic. I've seen Rocky Horror Picture Show once on TV, along with Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Blazing Saddles. Oh, don't forget Robin Hood: Men In Tights!

I love seafood and will probably try the new place. Although I LOVE Marietta Fish Market so it will be hard to top them, but I'll give the local place a chance too. Hubby and I went to MFM on our first date so it's always going to have a special place in my heart. There is one seafood place I won't visit again and that's Joe's Crab Shack. I've been there three different times, ordered three different shrimp entrees, and actually returned one for chicken fingers because it was that bad. How hard is it to mess up shrimp? And when you start to order the shrimp scampi and the waitress hesi

And it was just a couple of day's notice on the visit. Their agenda wasn't even to see us. It's not like they had a couple of extra vacation days and said "let's drive down and see them!" but they had to move some of their stuff out of storage to send back up north. They did make the bed. We spent a week up there with the in-laws and I made dinner two nights and hubby and I did most of the big holiday meal too--and that was for a 20-family-member feast!

To invite yourself over and then just sit there doing nothing kinda rubs me the wrong way. I've always at least offered to help out when I'm visiting others, and usually end up doing a lot. Guess it's the way I was raised, even at family gatherings everybody is in the kitchen helping get stuff heated up and then cleaning up after. I've gone to visit and actually planned and made dinner for us all, not expect them to do everything.

What? You're defending her? Please say you're kidding, although your original answer is a little too extreme, she does need consequences.

The only benefit to victim and stalker both wearing the GPS units is proof that the stalker is getting too close to the victim. I agree that the victim should not be forced into hiding because of some lunatic. At the very least, pepper spray, stun gun, taser, or something more powerful should be allowed to be carried by the victim. My heart breaks for that woman and her family. NC, stay safe!

I was just curious if anyone's houseguests help out while they're staying with you, especially when they kinda invited themselves over. I don't know if it's Southern upbringing or common courtesy, but when I'm staying at someone's house I'll offer, if not jump in and help, with dinner and cleaning up. Sometimes my offer is refused but a lot of times it's not. Anyway, hubby's sister and niece were down recently for a couple of days, and the most they did was put their dirty plates in the sink or on the counter. That is, after they called to say they'd be in town for a couple of days and cou

Anybody got a jar I can have?

Yep, Florida. The lifeguard was fired because he was at his post and the swimmer was about 100 yards to his right, which is out the boundary of where he's supposed to patrol. Swimmer's friend ran to the lifeguard tower and said his friend was drowning, lifeguard ran after the friend and jumped in and saved swimmer. Boss found out that lifeguard had gone outside their company boundaries and fired him for leaving his post and going outside the zone. Apparently the private company only allows them to rescue people within a set area--liability I guess. Last I'd heard the city was being pressur

Okay, they're banning single-use water bottles, why don't they also ban single-use plastic Coke bottles? I know a LOT more people will refill that water bottle from the tap at home and reuse it several times than refill the Coke bottle from the. . .big plastic Coke bottle at home. Hmmm. Maybe if recycling bins were readily available and curbside recycling was an affordable option it could help. Just thinking. There's such an outcry on obesity, especially childhood obesity, and schools aren't allowed to have bottled soft drinks--only water and juice--but not bottled water is taboo. Poor k

Salon Rouge in Hiram--the Shoppes at Olde Town Hiram--ask for Krystal, she's one of the owners. She did mine (partial highlights and cut) and was great. They use the iPad with credit card swipe thingy so they email you the receipt and electronically track your visits so you don't have a card to punch for earning free haircuts. If you google them you may be able to find a coupon for free haircut with the purchase of color services--that's what I did! Three-Thirteen in Marietta is great but can be expensive, but their pampering is wonderful. The massage your scalp during the shampoo and d

As big and miserable as I was, especially at the end of my pregnancy, I loved the pregnant parking spaces. I worked on my feet all day and they would be so swollen and painful and my back killed me. I could barely get into my car (not necessarily because of my huge belly, but just climbing up into it was hard) and between that and the thought of waddling any further than necessary was painful. Besides, a lot of those say "new or expectant mother" because you are right about the 20 pound car seat and stroller and baby and all the stuff that goes with it!

Y'all, this is my hometown. It's not enforced and most of the newer homeowners probably don't even know about that law. I've never felt in danger at all and I'm proud of my hometown. -
Sign up for their store reward card and use it. Kroger regularly sends us coupons for the stuff we buy the most of, sometimes for free ones and sometimes for decent savings. I get email notifications from Babies R Us all the time. You can also register your email address on couponmom.com and get emails of the good coupons and what stores have it on sale that week so you can combine the sale and coupons and get it for free or nearly free.

Watcher In The Woods--Bette Davis. I was a kid when I saw it last but from what I remember she is the "crazy" lady that lives alone and a new family moves in next door and she is convinced that the teenager is her daughter who disappeared 20 years prior. White Noise--Kevin Bacon. He uses EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) to "listen" to ghosts after his fiancee dies. The Sixth Sense--awesome. Carrie--classic I don't do gore. I saw Nightmare On Elm Street when I was 10 and didn't sleep for a month, and Freddy still gives me the willies. It's funny because I can handle blood

Tell me about it. There's tons of postings out there but they're not eagerly filling them. Two of the bigger healthcare systems have an online customer service assessment (answers are "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree" on questions like "I am willing to put my customer's needs ahead of my own") and because they didn't like the answers on my assessment, I have been turned down for many jobs with the message that I can retest in 6 months. Basically, I'm in their auto-reject pile for 6 months because my opinion is wrong. I'm still applying and hoping but I've been very actively searching

He was just trying to get to his meeting! Hope this will be the wakeup call he needs to stop drinking. -
We have a French-door fridge, and while it's nice, it's very limited on freezer space. We actually had to buy a small chest freezer to get our money's worth out of our Sam's Club membership (and that died after three and a half months, no warning, just a freezer full of soggy food). I will say yours is much bigger than ours and that extra drawer would be wonderful! Enjoy it!

Oh, the fun of watching another back-and-forth conversation. Anyway, back to the original topic, appliances don't last because manufacturers want you to buy a new one every few years. LOL.

Maybe if they'd switch the prices and make the salads $1.99 and the Big Mac $4.99 it would be easier. It's easier on the wallet to get the double cheeseburger value meal at $2.99 versus five bucks for a salad. I guess the hospital feels hypocritical for partnering with the leader in high-fat, high-calorie meals when doctors preach healthy eating. I had another good point but I completely forgot it!
