    Frogs

That commercial is sad! That's actually a sissified city boy - true outdoorsmen love the sound of frogs. By the way, I just made a connection to something; if you like frogs and Sam Elliot there's a 1972 B-Horror movie titled "Frogs" that stars a young Sam and Ray Miland. It's so bad it's fun to watch. Netflix has it for streaming to your TV and it's probably available on other services.
  2. Isn't it interesting that Boortz only used the word "thugs" in his comment yet this thing instantly turned into a racial issue. The NAACP was one of the first to jump in with criticizm. They immediately equated the mere words "thugs" and "carjacking" with blacks, which shows that they too know who commits most of these crimes. They are the ones doing the racial profiling, not Neil. White people don't have a chance of doing anything about these kinds of violent acts because if they even so much as talk about blacks commiting crimes, no matter how true and obvious it might be, they're slammed ha
  3. Could it be Quince? Grapples are artifically flavored apples, so you won't find them naturally. Look 'em up on Google.
  4. Totally off topic, but I see something RIGHT with this picture; a deposit on the Mtn Dew cans or bottles. I've been to several states where this is done and I think it's a great idea. They all get recycled and you see far less trash on the roads, unlike Georgia.
  5. Total BS!!! If we were meant to graze like cattle we wouldn't have canines and incisors in our mouths, and we would have four chambered ruminant stomachs like cows, or we'd have a crop (craw) full of grit like fowl to digest those healthy whole grains. (Corn is an excellent indicator of nothing more than how long it takes food to go completely through your digestive tract!) Go chew on your cud while I have a rare steak!
  6. It was commonly called "sensitive plant"; true name is Mimosa pudica (from Latin: pudica "shy, bashful or shrinking" and used to grow wild in our pasture when I was a kid. It was a small vine, nothing like a "tree", and had a lavender colored pom-pom type flower. I used to love to find them and always had to touch or shake them till they closed up and looked dead and wilted. Pretty smart plant, they did it so the cows wouldn't eat them! I agree with the other poster, I wish I had come up with the idea of selling a weed for $20!!
  7. The Tasty Freeze was out past the hospital on Rockmart Hwy. I remember 'cause it was part of the Golden Crusing Triangle. We'd start at Vaughn's Ice Cream Parlor (where the Brier Patch is now) then cruise over to the Dairy Queen and circle that parking lot a few times, then over to the Tasty Freeze, make a few circles there, and back to Vaughn's, then do it again, and again, and again. Sometimes going to the Judean Drive-In would interrupt our ritual for the length of the movie, but afterwards we'd be right back at it.
  8. May 14, 2011 is "World Naked Gardening Day". No Kidding! Look it up on Google, or at http://www.wngd.org/! Funny thing is that I've actually been thinking about doing this. what with the heat we've been having for the past few weeks and I thought about doing a search and found this! I mean, when it's cold you can keep putting on more layers till you're warm, but when it's hot, you can only take off down to what nature intended. So come on everybody, let's get nekked tomorow, and get out there and hoe them weeds out. Oops, I meant "naked"; "nekked" is when you get caught doing something you sho
  9. Seems to me that if your rent increases to a point where you can't pay it with what your business brings in, that's pretty much "forced". It may not be a decision "to not pay the increased rent", but an inability to pay it. Everybody's gouging everybody for a few more dollars these days, from the government and businesses, right down to the individuals. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme!!!
  10. Weird! I noticed the same thing this morning, not only with FM radio stations but also with over-the-air digital TV stations. I even checked the NOAA / Space Weather Prediction Center's website and it said that everything was pretty much normal. Can't help but wonder about a thread I started here on a whim, a few days ago, about what if the end of the world was coming and would "they" tell us. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
  11. I've had Vonage for nearly a year now with no problems whatsoever and I kept the number I've had with Bellsouth for 30 years. Costs just under $15 a month for 250 outgoing minutes and unlimited incoming and the box was free. Works perfectly with the answering machine and 4 handset cordless phones I already had. Caller ID, callwaiting, three-way, everything works great. Vonage has their own voice mail system that you can use full time or set up to answer if your machine doesn't, such as during power or internet outages. Cool thing is they send you an email for every voice message you get with a
  12. Oops! you posted while I was typing. The VGA along with the audio connector and the HDMI connector will give you basically the same picture quality, but the HDMI connector will simplify things quite a bit by carrying the picture and audio on the same cable (and may give you better audio) and might simplify the whole process since the computer may recognize what type of TV is connected and automatically adjust resolution to it. Go that way!
  13. Most laptops have a 15-pin VGA connector (called D-sub cause it looks sort of like an elongated letter "D") for connecting an external monitor, and most HDTVs have the same connector for computer input along with a 3.5mm audio input connector near the VGA connector (looks like a headphone jack). Doesn't matter whether you use two cables or a combined cable, the ends will have both connectors on them. Plug the audio connector into the headphone output of your laptop. There's usually a combination of keys on your laptop that you have to press to get the computer to output to the built-in screen,
  14. Tractor supply, WalMart in Hiram has it, anyplace that sells horse feed.
  15. I hope I've figured out what most of the cute little abbreviations used here mean, like DD, DH, DDL, DS, DHS, DDT, DMV, DOT, and all the others that save you from having to type in english, but will somebody please tell me what "ninja" means. I see it all the time, so it must be important. Thank you. Oops!, I meant Thx!
  16. Thanks Pubby! Now we've got some thinkers stirred up! That's what I wanted.
  17. I'll probably get slammed by some for saying this, so I'm not telling you to do it, but... I've used ivermectin (several brands around nowdays, used to be only Zimectrin) horse wormer for heartworm protection for my dogs for many years. It's the exact same ingredient as in Heartguard, but Heartguard costs nearly $50 for 6 tablets and this costs about $9 for a tube that will last way over a year. I just give them a little dab on the fingertip once a month. If you pin down an honest Vet or animal professional they'll tell you the same thing. Ivermectin also comes in a concentrated liquid for
  18. I heard somewhere that it was a Senior Living Center, can't verify though. Getting ready for us baby boomers!
  19. Few more things: 1) What the H does this have to do with somebody getting killed by a hit and run driver! 2) What business is it of your daughter's if someone is going through somebody elses cast out things on other properties? 3) 911 is an EMERGENCY service! Going through a garbage can is not an emergency! Your daughter should be fined for frivolous abuse of the system. The other woman may have called because she felt threatened by your daughter. Who's the idiot?
  20. Wasp stings can cause a huge amount of swelling. Taking the benedryl and using ice to help relieve the pain is probably the best thing he can do. Although there are a ton of remedies out there such as tobacco, vinegar, ammonia, meat tenderizer, etc., once the venom is under the skin and in the tissues there's really nothing that you can put on it externally that will really help. Time is the only cure. It will stop hurting eventually and then the itching starts and lasts for days. Of course if he's allergic and starts having swelling in the throat or trouble breathing get him to the ER.
  21. How about the commercials for "minimum" car insurance so you can get your tag and then let it lapse? Burns me up!
  22. If it were found that the end of the world was coming (asteroid, comet, planetary shift, magnetic poles shifting, solar flare or supernova, anything that was absolutely going to happen in the near future) do you think that "they" (the government, scientists, astronomers, NASA, any of the powers-that-be) would tell us...and when? Would it be better not to know? How long could it be kept a secret? Not that I believe that it is, but with all of the weird things happening and the nut-job predictions going around, I just think sometimes about what would happen if it really was going to be. Please
  23. So it's OK to drive and maybe kill someone else if you're diabetic?
  24. Uhh...I didn't see anything particularly funny about this, and I think the kid's response is pretty much common for today, but one thing that did come to mind was how and why did someone take a perfectly framed video while driving at a good rate of speed? (And we like to bitch about people talking and texting on the phone while driving?!?!)
  25. Thanks! Of course I should have known to go directly to "http://paulding.com/...ost__p__3403072" to get more information about this. That's what I love about this site, I can instantly find out about what everybody's having for supper, or where to get my nails done, but not about an emergency in the county!
