  1. You know, of course, there's one of these at Paulding Co. High School. I'm not sure if it's over a hundred feet from hwy 61, or from the parking lot where dozens of cars sit with their hot engines cooling down every day. You can see it's readings at PCHS Weather Station. (Don't know how this link insertion thing works; if it doesn't copy and paste "http://www.griffin.uga.edu/aemn/cgi-bin/AEMN.pl?site=GADL&report=c" into your browser.)
  2. Everywhere you go now you see hand sanitizers setting around, warnings about germs, commercials about wiping off your doorknobs, faucet handles, telephones, etc. with disinfectants, people wearing surgical masks, and so on. Are we raising a society of germophobes who everyday are compromising their immune systems more and more by buying into this surgically sterile marketing hysteria? Here's a personal story I love to relate about germs: When I was a kid growing up in Paulding County, we had a hand-dug well out back of the house. We did have indoor plumbing with an electric pump th
  3. Well, apparently some of you (those who pointed out the dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide being added to our foods) understood the gist of where I was coming from when I posted this. I'm worried about the others.
  4. A few days ago I was informed by my Nephew, a senior at Hiram, very seriously and with a tone obviously meant to elicit a shock response, "Did you know that McDonalds uses animal fat in their ice cream?!!!". I have to admit that at first I was put off at the idea until I thought about it for a moment. Real cream is almost 100% animal fat and whole milk has a large percentage of animal fat, and those are the very things that I WANT in my ice cream. Isn't it funny how something so good can be twisted around to sound so bad? I think we're being told a lot of things like this these days and we'
  5. Agree totally with Sports Source. Apply first yourself and at least follow up with the first appeal yourself. I've done it twice, once for me and once for a friend with cancer, and won both times. There's lots of information on the websites, just read everything, fill the forms out carefully, and be patient. A lawyer would end up taking a huge chunk of his benefits.
  6. Read your credit card statements carefully even if you have rejected a "Change in Terms". My credit card company sent a notice that they were raising the rate on my card from 9.99% to 15.99% with instructions on how to reject the changes. Their letter included the statement: "Provided that your account is in good standing, you will be able to make charges on it until the "GOOD THRU" date that appears on your card. At that time your account will be closed and you will be required to pay the balance under the current terms and conditions." I have never been late on a payment to this or
  7. Please read my reply to lepmuk under his topic of "Surround Sound Components" elsewhere in this forum. I was meaning to post this before y'all got new HDTVs for Christmas, but never got around to it until I read his post. It might still save you some money.
  8. Might be able to help but need to know make and models of all your equipment in order to know what and how many HDMI, component, and composite imputs and outputs etc. each has. Do you just want online help or someone to come to your home and help? IN ANY CASE!!! Before you get talked into spending a lot of money for cables like HDMI and component, check out some of the online sites. You can spend as little as $4.99 for an HDMI cable that is just as good as the ones they want to sell you in a store for $50.00 and up. Cables are the biggest ripoff there is in the A/V industry. 9. Hey, I just found out how to turn off the signatures and avitars, but it took some time to find it. I like it much better this way. I didn't mean to upset so many people, I was just hoping for a more efficient way to read the posts without all the cuteness and stuff. Thanks for the heads-up that it could be done. (Would have helped if someone could have pointed me in the right direction though.)
  10. @rednekkhikkchikk Thank you for being at least one who sees my point, and guess what, I didn't have to quote you to show who this reply is to.
  11. Does everybody on this board always have to quote a message you're responding to? I get really bored scrolling my screen down over and over just to read topics here. And with all of these cute little sayings and pictures at the bottom of your posts, some of them take up a full screen by themselves. It's tiring to see this stuff again and again.
  12. I'd love to see everybody learn this little ditty, and then when we're in a public place and some low-pants punk comes in, everybody just start chanting it over and over in a real low voice. Can't you just imagine it?!!!
  13. The Hitching Post Music Barn in Woodland, Alabama is hosting a free New Year's Eve Bluegrass Jam. It's about 50 miles from Dallas, but well worth the trip. This is not an actual scheduled show, but a get together for all of the local pickers to just play and jam, and some of the best are going to be there. If you're into Bluegrass music, you know that some of the absolute best music happens that way. Bring your instruments if you play, or just come to listen. NO ALCOHOL or DRUGS! Just good clean fun. Check it out at The Hicthing Post Y'all Come!
