Filing errors do happen. That's just a fact of life where humans are involved. What's really screwed up is when they aren't corrected in a timely manner once they are brought to the attention of those in a position to fix them.

After the facts came out, I don't believe anyone was supporting the actions of those officers. What I don't get is why you keep bringing that event up every time the subject of LEOs comes up. They screwed up. Yes. Absolutely. They deserve to be in jail. But every LEO in this country did not take part in that mess. Nobody is asking you to. But people around here don't b*tch about crappy experiences with other professionals as much as they b*tch about their run-ins with LEOs. It's extra frustrating for those of us with factual information that we aren't permitted to share. Stats and figures that prove that some perceptions are not reality. Of course it stinks when one has a bad experience with an officer but it stinks even more when that officer (specific officer or in general officers)take(s) a beating here from people who have no clue about the vast majority of what goes on behind the scenes.

I don't suppose it occurred to you how many times people's vehicles get backed into etc. without them ever knowing. Technically, the officer still could have written the ticket. Not suggesting that he should have ... just that he could have.

Not quite right. Cobb can write 5 over if it was determined by pace, not radar/laser. But the tag light ... minor as it is ... every vehicle is supposed to have a functioning tag light. If he's gotten away with it for this long, he should consider himself lucky and move on.
