  1. Visit S. Fl or S. CA and tell me what you hear. Heck, just drive around certain parts of Metro ATL and look at the signs. I now have to press 1 if I want English, or choose on English on my ATM and many other examples. My issue isn't that I have to take the time to press 1. My issue is that this says to me, that those who are immigrating are not trying to assimilate with the exisiting culture. In the past when immigrants came to the US they tried to assimilate as quickly as possible and they wanted to be a part of the US culture. This may not have happened with the 1st generation, but
  2. In some ways yes and in others no. My mom still lives in the house I grew up in, of course none of the neighbors are the same. But you are correct about classmates living in Paulding. I bet I had not seen anyone I went to school with, except a few close friends, in years. I move to Paulding and I run into at least 5 or 6 right away. Like I said, Paulding is ok with me.
  3. I grew up in Cobb, lived in Cherokee for some time, then back in Cobb, then in Paudling, back to Cobb for a short period and finally in Paulding. That is where the ex settled with my kid. I plan on staying here, unless my wife tells me I feel differently. I have found not much difference between them all except that a lot of Paulding natives stay in Paulding. Not a negative, just different from the other counties I lived in. One reason I probable do not see much difference between the 3 counties, is that I lived in Cobb and Cherokee when they were the #1 growing counties in the coun
  4. Great restaurants at 6 points in downtown B'ham.
  5. The above post is right on the money. If he could quit drinking for others or on his own he would. Loving someone, caring for someone or will power has nothing to do with it. As far as going to one Al-anon group and saying that the whole organization is that way, is like going to one Baptist church service and saying that they are all that way. They differ as much as the people attending them do. I sent you a PM, please look it over.
  6. one-trick pony n informal chiefly ( US ) a person or thing considered as being limited to only one single talent, capability, quality, etc (or topic) The phrase is also sometimes used to refer to commentators and academics who use the same material repeatedly without variation; they could also be called "one note."
  7. Ahhh, Crap. Now we gotta a glue and stamp shortage. If it ain't one thing it's another. You guys can blame the Republican and the Democrates if you want. I'm blamimg this one on Joey, when we were kids he sniffed a LOT of glue and now it's come back to haunt us.
  8. Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a winner. Tell him what he's won Johnny! Johnny?...Johnny? Oh well, take our congratulations instead of a prize. By the way, is that you I here shooting sometimes? I live near Poole Bridge school. No problem, just wondering.
  9. Does anyone know where the term minie ball comes from? No cheating with google.
  10. I have sold these for the past 15 years and I was looking for something that I could remember. st radial
  11. I agree that even a small change in the words we think and say can make a big difference in our attitude, both consciously and subconsciously. A friend of mine has been pointing that out to me for many years. An example of how just changing one word in what we think or say can make a big difference: I have to go with (wife, son, whoever) to (dinner, practice, wherever) Friday night. I get to go with (wife, son, whoever) to (dinner, practice, wherever) Friday night. One sounds like a chore and the other a reward. Small steps move you towards your goal and strengthen you to take b
  12. Good to know. Thanks. Ahhh, those were the days.
  13. I lived the "lifestyle" in the 60' & 70's and while I do have fond memories of those times, what I miss most is being that young and carefree. For those who do not know what that "lifestyle" was, you really missed out, or not, depending on where you are coming from. Good information to know, I think I will speak with my doctor about it. While I have been a blood donor for the past 23 years, it sounds as if that may not have caught it.
  14. When I asked the this question, I had no knowledge of what Dr. Nicole did for a living. The question I was asking was as simple as it reads and meant exactly what it says/ To Dr. Nicole, I meant no disrespect or anything negative by my question to you. I wish you the best in your practice and your business. Edited to add: My wife has advised me that by putting the dr in caps in my original post, that means something in the texting, e-mail, whatever world. I do understand that using caps does normaly mean something, but in this case, that is how I was taught to abbreviate doctor,
  15. WOW, please find a 10 year old to read the entire progression of your posts and my responces and ask them to help you understand what was said. But I will give it one last attempt. 1. I asked someone else a question about their education. 2. You sarcasticlly reply to my question, which again was asked of someone else, with information that had nothing to do with my question and assumes I either had knowledge that I did not have or that I meant something else. 3. I reply to you that I meant nothing except what I typed and that the question was for someone else as it was about their backg
  16. Average life expectancy. See....oh never mind.
  17. Yep, I can see that you have a real hard time reading the black words and not the white spaces between the words. I am not sure if I can make this simple enough for you. I was implying EXACTLY what the #@$% I wrote, no more, no less. Apparently unlike you, if I have a question, I ask the question I would like an answer to. Also unlike you, I try very hard not to presume, assume or read between the lines. See if I were like you, I could assume that you are a chiropractor who is ashamed of their failure to become a "real" doctor and who has persecution issues and low self esteem. The
  18. Well that certianly does not answer my questions. But thank you for playing and please come again. Just to be CLEAR, here again are my questions: Just curious, what medical school did you attend and what are you a DR of? Now, maybe you should check your facts, or better yet, read the words and not what you think is in the spaces between the words, because this may take you by surprise, matter of fact I'm sure it will; but I never typed anything about a doctor of chiropractic. But you feel free to answer a question posed to someone else, even if that question was never asked.
  19. Ummm and what was the average life expectancy?
  20. They used the anagram in Great Britian when you were charged with with unlawful sex. I am not sure, but memory says this was during the 1400's.
  21. Just curious, what medical school did you attend and what are you a DR of?
  22. When I was 15, I worked as a bagboy at our local grocery store. The store was owned by a man called JD, so most refered to the store as JD's. One day after school as I prepared to walk to work, my mom came home and here is the conversation that ensued. (almost verbatim) Mom: You can't go to work, they have a bum up at JD's! Me: That's ok, they will tell him to leave. Mom: No, it's a BUM! Me: I heard you, they will make him leave. Mom: No! It's a BUM! The police are there. Me: Well, then the police will make him leave or take him with them. Mom: NO! IT'S A BUM, DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?
  23. I am not going to tell you what I thought this topic was about.
