  1. I took Lisinopril and it was great for my blood pressure. No side effects at the start but after several months the coughing and throat thing started. Because it took a few months before the side effects kicked in, I thought I was sick and liked to coughed myself silly. Could not even sleep. Finally went to the doctor who took me off the Lisinopril and put me on a different med. The Lisinopril was better at keeping my BP down and I wish I could take it again. My wife has used Lisinopril for BP for several years and she has had no issues. Oh yeh, Lisinopril was waaaayy cheaper than the
  2. My uncle spent his life in LE and when I was 16 years old (early 1970's) he told me that 16 was to young to drive. I argued with him and he said this; "I know you do not think it is to young, but remember this conversation and when you are in your 30's let me know then who you think was right." I remembered it and when I was in my 30's, I had to tell him that he was right and I was wrong. Only thing different from my day and today, is that there are more things to run into today than in my day. So it is, IMO, even more dangerous than when I was 16. But try getting a teenager to believe th
  3. Ooooh, no permits and water front property. The fines and the new taxes are going cost a fortune. Do they lay golden eggs?
  4. You did get the proper building permits didn't you.
  5. I love this story. Many years ago my buddy's 2nd wife left him and he was understandably depressed. His dad, who had been divorced from his mom for around 8 years, had been trying to contact my buddy, but my buddy wouldn't take his calls. So the dad called me to find out what was going on. I told the dad and said that my buddy was just ashamed that his 2nd marriage hadn't worked out. Anyway, the dad called my buddy and after they had talked I asked my buddy what his dad had said to him. My buddy told me his dad just said to get a good divorce attorney. In fact he said, "get your mother'
  6. I understand what you are saying and in theory I agree. But as I said war is ugly. Also, and this is to me a MAJOR point, if it can get you initiated into a college fraternity, I do not consider it to be abuse.
  7. War is ugly and things happen. These things have happened since humans started fighting wars. Read about what went happened, on both sides, in WW2 in the Pacific theater and that was the "The Greatest Generation". While we should not just write off everything that happens in a combat zone as "well that's just war", at the same time we should understand that not everything is a major incident, nor should it be treated as one. The worst thing that has happened to the ability of the US to do in times of combat what has to be done, is the fact that the news media is no longer putting their cou
  8. Here is an interesting comment on "ghost bikes". (comment was from the OP's link) Mark Fraser (MarkyBaby22) wrote: I guess we need "ghost sneakers" for dead joggers? I guess we need "ghost skateboards" for dead skates? I guess we need "ghost mannequin legs" for dead pedestrians? I guess we need "ghost kickballs" for dead kids who wander into the street? Point being is that everyone has lost someone. Cluttering up the streets with ghost stuff does no real good but does cause clutter
  9. Would I sound bitter if I said to heck with all you homemade pie making and eating people? If so, then some homemade pie would probably sweeten me right up. (You do realize I mean pie made by someone other than me, right?)

  12. I agree with your PPS, we should be teaching our kids a second language at a very young age. Mainly because it is easier for them to learn when they are young. I have made all my other comments in other posts on this topic.
  13. We have threads for those who went to school in Cobb and Paulding counties, what about everyone else? It has been interesting to me to see the demographics from the Cobb County post as well as see people connecting with those they knew when. Maybe just the city, state and year you graduated high school? My wife isn't on Pcom but she would be: Boulder, CO Class of 1981

  15. That was what made me do the list, I thought the ages were very interesting. But if you think about it, it makes sense as they are the computor generation.
  16. The following exchange is verbatim. During a visit to my doctor, he asked me; "Have you thought about excercise and losing weight?" My answer was; "I've thought about it." Nothing more was said during that visit. When the report was faxed to my wife, she gets all my reports sent to her, it said: "Have discussed the need for exercise and weight loss with patient." I got a kick out of it. But now he does have more discussion than just asking. I miss the old days.
  17. Just to be clear, I am sorry that you and your family members had to go through this ordeal. I never meant to suggest that you shouldn't have reported it as your job required. I am just FLOORED that it was something that the goverment has gotten involved in. Guess I shouldn't have been, but I was.
  18. So now it is a crime for kids around 10-13 years old, all being around the same age, all consenting, to be "playing doctor"? Edited to add: This is just very surprising to me. In my day, they would have had to lock up the entire neighborhood. We all thought we were surgeons, even the girls.
  19. Like I said, I am not questioning your having to report it due to your job. When I think of "playing doctor" I think of kids 13 and younger, maybe, maybe 14 years old. That is what shocks me, that kids that young would have to be reported instead of the parents handling it. Again, I understand your job position at the time and I am not second guessing your doing what you had to do, I am saying that I am shocked that it was something that was required to be reported.
  20. I do not mean this to be funny or irreverent. You mean kids playing doctor is now something that has to be reported to the authorites? I guess that means the old "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" is against law also? (this assuming all involved are kids) What happened to the parents just punishing the kids, if they are caught? I am not questioning your reporting it due to your job, I am just shocked that it is something that would have to be reported.
  21. Sorry about that, I miss typed and had two 1972's instead of 1973. You were counted, I just made you and someone from Wheeler a year older. I have corrected the typo. The good news is you are now the correct age. The bad news is, you are now the correct age.
  22. My son went to Dallas Elementary, HJMS and Paulding High, class of 2011.
