Disability for "Adult Baby" - news of the weird
jsbeagle replied to onekidmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
get out yer tin foil hats everyone! -
I think I'll start tipping at places like the dentist and emergency room, just to see what happens! (not really) Does anybody tip at a fast food place? I've never seen it. How about Sonic drive in, or the quasi drive through they have at Sonic where a server brings the food out to your car?

Bend over now, nickel and dime cheats get OK by SCOTUS 5-4
jsbeagle replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Small claims only ever benefit the lawyer anyway. All the court said is that if you enter a contract with someone or a corporation, or whatever that includes mandatory arbitration, then if you have a beef, you'll do mandatory arbitration. If you don't want that, don't do business with them. I know it doesn't really seem possible to do this (and its probably not), but we can't have the courts voiding contracts just because one party doesn't like them. -
It may be cheaper for the first year to have the huge bundle only because they give you a cheap rate on the bundle as a new customer. After a year (or whenever the promotional period ends) it will go up to normal price (and it will go up significantly).

Have you considered not having a "land line" phone? If you have a cell phone, there really isn't a need for a phone at the house anymore. We have a magic jack phone ($20/yr, needs computer to be on), but we really don't even use it except as a number to give out instead of a cell number (we get the messages from it in our email). If you only have comcast tv and internet, all you'll need is a cable modem. Those are a lot easier to find for cheap.

Since Lowe's issue is a legal issue, he's innocent until proven otherwise. He wisely didn't take the breath test, so that's why he was arrested. The DUI tests are made for you to fail, so most lawyers suggest to do exactly what Lowe did if in that situation. There is also a union for MLB players, but not one for coaches..... I also thought that it seemed backwards considering punishment for each action, but if Lowe is convicted he will have harsher penalties (which will be appealed down to basically nothing at that time with the help of the union).

Even Georgia Tech knows their licensing is a pain... http://www.iwantmygt.gatech.edu/ Somewhere on that site is contact info so you can get more info on carrying more GT stuff. Anybody can be a georgie fan, just stop by walmart...

Is there an age minimum to own/shoot a BB Gun?
jsbeagle replied to MamaJess's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I am an adult with a red ryder, but my HOA doesn't allow bb guns here. I am forced to shoot at a box full of newspaper and carpet in my downstairs hallway because of stupid punks and the perception that bb guns bring. I can understand them not letting me shoot my 9mm in my little yard, but responsible adults should be able to set up some cans in their backyard and blast away. Most bb guns (unless break barrel or CO2 powered) really can't do much damage to anything other than glass. Even squirrels just shrug off the hits. -
Actually Incabiker, the public gathering ban was ended a year or two ago. You of course have to be licensed, but there are very few places that are off limits now (public owned buildings, churches, and school campuses make up most of the off limits list) The only private business I have ever noticed that displays a "no firearms" (aka, "we're defenseless") sign is Tuesday Morning (the one in Hiram closed earlier this year). That never stopped me, but I carry concealed (permit of course). If somehow they saw mine, all they could legally do is ask me to leave the store and or ban me from the

The funny thing is that one of the biggest opponents to this is the liquor stores. Supermarkets/gas stations won't really see much difference because its not like people are really going to drink any more, and they are already open on Sundays. Liquor stores on the other hand, will have to deal with the extra overhead (employees, electricity, etc) of being open on Sunday, while they really won't see any increase in total sales either. I'm all for this passing, and I hope we can pass it in Paulding. Its always sad to go grocery shopping and see a whole isle roped off. [edit] Cobb

There are similar ads on WSB radio like that every couple months. Usually in the mountains of Tennessee or Georgia. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Do they ever mention if there have been roads cut up to the property? Utilities? Like Lots To Do said, if they use any pressure tactics, then you know they are up to no good.

Computer Brands: The good the bad and ugly
jsbeagle replied to CedarcrestPC's topic in RECENT TOPICS
10 year old home built desktop with Soyo(brand doesn't exist anymore) MB and AMD XP 2400 still running strong. Wife's tiny home built desktop is ASUS with an AMD is 4 years old and fine. Cheap Dell laptop is 8 years old and aside from the screen hinge attachment needing a repair (used roofing nails and epoxy - don't ask) its still strong as my dad's home pc even after being carried around in a backpack for several years. Wife's HP laptop has been in for warranty repair on the power jack several times, until it was retired. POS - known poor design 4 year old Lenovo laptop carried to -
This has little to do with the state budget, and more to do with rising health care costs. Things like covering "children" until they are 25 has to be paid for somehow. The health insurance costs at my office went up 20% this year. Luckily my boss is awesome and the company is eating most of the increase.

NOAA scientists cleared in climate email review
jsbeagle replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
FACT: At one time, most if not all of the world was covered in ice. Did the wooly mammoths burn too much fossil fuels that made the earth warm up and melt most of it? Why are humans trying to play God and think we are in control of the global climate? It obviously was warming before we were here, so why is Al Gore the one to decide that he likes the climate the best how it is right now. The so called "hockey stick" has been debunked. We keep hearing predictions about how in only two years time "something" bad is going to happen and the only stories are about how stuff is predicted to -
Gulf Oil Spill Investigated as Cause of Dolphin Deaths
jsbeagle replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The arguments against DEEP offshore drilling are political. If that oil rig had been closer, it really wouldn't have been a problem to cap and take care of. Its the government regulations that make them drill so far off the shore that's the problem. While we're at it, lets cap greenhouse emissions in this country. Lets make sure any last industry is driven out of the US and into countries that have ABSOLUTELY NO REGULATIONS so that the world gets polluted that much more. -
Naval Academy Graduate Finally Given Conscientious Objector Status
jsbeagle replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
As long as he pays back the hundred of thousands of dollars we spent training and educating him, then good for him. My brother graduated from the Air Force Academy and has been too busy flying airplanes all over the world (even taking a hit in the belly of his C-130 from a bad guy in Iraq) to be able to do much with his college degree. There's no reason this guy should be an exception. -
Why Do So Many People Give Up Their Bargaining Rights?
jsbeagle replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Fair balance maybe, but when stagehands are making $300,000 per year, average teachers making $100,000 a year, something has to give. In the construction industry I can go on and on about how unions cripple the workforce. It is far worse in the North. Some union brick masons aren't allowed (by the union) to carry a brick from the wall they are building over to the saw to cut it to shape. There has to be ANOTHER employee to carry the dang brick for them! -
Past predictions of global warming (now called "climate change") have also been that we'll never have snow again. Other predictions have been that we'll have a lot of snow. Funny how if they "predict" both, then either can be cited as "told ya so"! Could someone tell me what temperature is "ideal"? Was earth a comfortable 72 for all of eternity until we came along, or were there ice ages and thaws?

US Posts Best Manufacturing Numbers Since May 2004
jsbeagle replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The article just said that manufacturing activity is the FASTEST since 2004. Since many factories closed up, the few that are left are having to work faster to meet demand, which I imagine was the plan for closing the other factories all along. -
40 contruction trucks in lot east of car dealerships?
jsbeagle replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I know quite well the effects of the times... I graduated from college last year with a degree in construction management Luckily I know enough about roads and bridges to have a job helping to design them since there aren't any "real" construction jobs out there. It seems like there is a requirement for shopping centers to have each of those stores! -
not local, but half.com I've sold a lot of textbooks on there

40 contruction trucks in lot east of car dealerships?
jsbeagle replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
So does anybody know about the land they are sitting on? They were working on it a couple years ago when I moved to town just across 120 from it (Evans Mill sub), but it appeared they came across a large pipe (sewer maybe?) when they were cutting the entrance and stopped work for several months to get it relocated. Since then, I haven't seen any work being done.
