  1. I think you just fill out a form, get some support from your neighbors, then go before the variance board. You state your case along with your supporters, and anyone who may be opposed can state theirs. I think then they either make the decision and grant it, or forward their recommendation to the board of commissioners to sign off on it. That's at least my understanding.
  2. I wouldn't think (hopefully) the zoning board would have any issue with it. There's a big difference between having 6 well-cared for hens and having a chicken house with 100,000 chickens in it. Its the setback rules that are designed more to keep people from building huge chicken houses on top of their neighbor, but probably at the time they were written it wasn't becoming popular to keep just a handful in a small coop/pen no bigger than an outdoor dog cage. Of course, if HB853 (http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/en-US/display/20112012/HB/853) passes, none of this will be an issue anymor
  3. www.localharvest.org is another site to check for CSA/Farmer's Market/U-Pick'em type things. I know the two farmer's markets here is the one on Saturday, then in the spring/summer there's one setup by the Farm Bureau across from the bowling/game place at 92/Dallas Hwy.
  4. Same here, I've used them for the past few years. No complaints at all.
  5. Go to the Crab Shack, they are great! www.thecrabshack.com
  6. Must be taking you through the secret Paulding tunnels.
  7. Those beetles would cover every inch of the trees, eat all the leaves and then move on leaving little behind. We put out some of the traps that would use two 2-liter coke bottles and it would fill up with beetles every day, but it just wasn't enough. They would just come back year after year, they took out both the normal plum trees as well as the wild ones. My folks used to make a little summer money selling plums/pears off their property, but when the beetles showed up they destroyed those trees year after year. Finally had to just cut them down.
  8. My parents had a bunch of them on their old property in Lithia Springs, but they got decimated by the japanese beetles.
  9. Some friends of mine up north are in one of those supper clubs, and even in a casserole one. Always thought those were pretty neat and wished there was some groups like this out this way - but as you say the ones you see are 25-50 miles away.
  10. McClung that cuts between Hiram-Sudie and Nebo probably has one.. that roads got some S curves on it.
  11. I've enjoyed dropping the top on my convertible on my way home from the office. Now if the morning temps will just catch up with those afternoon ones.
  12. Maybe is was one of those hoop snakes that bite their tail then roll after you.
  13. Its pretty crazy. I know my honeybees are bringing in some grey/slightly yellowish pollen from something. The bees are just as confused about what is going on as we are. I'm hoping the bottom doesn't drop out and we get a foot or two of snow and temperatures in the teens, it might really do a number on them.
  14. They have pretty good food. My wife and I have eat there a good bit when they were over next to the courthouse, and the new place is so much bigger. Its family run and the owners are very friendly. Prices are reasonable for cajun food as well.
  15. Bugatti Veyron. I'll never be able to afford it, but I'd love to have a car that can do 268mph.
  16. What if we don't like any of the choices out there for any of the parties that are running ?
  17. Maybe they are picking/dropping someone off that they work with or doesn't have a car, and its easy just to turn around to leave in the cul-de-sac.
  18. The National Infantry Museum and Civil War Naval Museum are in Columbus. They are really cool to go see.
  19. Huge as in size, they are about 2x bigger that what you usually get. Same goes for the chicken fingers, ate some of those today.
  20. Its Chickenworldbaby.com. It's really good, and the wings are huge! I'll definitely be going back. Had anyone tried their burgers ?
  21. Yesterday I stopped by and picked up 10 wings, fried pickles, and 2 Chicago dogs. The wings and fried pickles were great. But the Chicago Dog wasn't a Chicago Dog. It was a hotdog with slaw and onions. This is a Chicago Dog. If you are going to sell something called a Chicago Dog, at least make sure it is one.
  22. Just a word of warning on the lemongrass oil.. its also used as a lure for catching honeybee swarms. If you notice that bees suddenly seem to take a liking to you, might want to just use it during the winter. I'll have to give this a try with our HE washer. I used to make our detergent all the time. It was so much cheaper and didn't have any smell to it or cause any skin issues, unlike some of the commercial stuff.
  23. Craigslist or even on here is a good place. Just depends on how old it is, what model, etc.
  24. Sorry about that Guess the ADA didn't offer any kickbacks like the drug company did. When I read all this on the news (since I don't watch much TV) I told her I'd bet dollar to donuts she's got some angle on this. Unlike the reporter that did a bit on a medical checkup process, then found out he had heart disease and could have had a heart attack. He put the word out to go get regular checkups, not look for an angle on how he could make a buck off of it.
