  1. There was a black suv/truck that ran off the road maybe about 1/2 mile from Bill Carruth and flipped over in a ditch, and was standing upright on its side. I would guess they were coming from Bill Carruth and headed toward 61, when they ran off the road and flipped over. They had life flight come land down at the Lutheran church right down the road, and the ambulances took the people involved directly to where the life flight had landed. While the road was blocked off, folks were turning around and heading back towards 61 and there was an accident around where the guy with the boiled peanuts i
  2. Hate to hear that, did Mr. Troup pass away ? I talked to him about 7-8 years ago when I took a deer down there.
  3. I know Garret Rd right off Thornton is closed, its been flooded since Wednesday morning.
  4. My brother-in-law just returned after two tours in Iraq, and my uncle served in Vietnam. My grandfather JR Johnson, fought in WWII in the pacific campaign during all the island hopping. I know he was at Leyte and then went in as the occupation force once Japan surrendered. David Glenn Blackwell, my G-G-G-Grandfather. Died in December 31, 1862 at a hospital in Virginia after fighting with Company H of Cobb's Legion. I had quite a few relatives who fought, about half of which were killed at Vicksburg. Capt. James Tarrant, fought in the Revolutionary War out of Virginia along with
  5. Troup Farms over in Dallas does a pretty good job as well. I've had them process a deer, and back about 20+ years ago they used to process my grandfather's cattle.
  6. Might want to check out http://www.georgiacarry.org - they have pretty good info on the latest CCW news/info. I've had a license since I was 21, used to carry a Ruger 9mm, but then went to a Taurus .44 Special and then to a Sig P239 .40. I had the Ruger jam a few times while target shooting, never had any issues with the Sig, but it is a much better made pistol.
  7. http://onlineathens.com/stories/102809/bre_509940898.shtml Regions Bank plans to close or consolidate 121 bank branches in 16 states in early 2010, but the cost-cutting move won’t affect any offices in the Athens area, a company spokeswoman said this morning. “There won’t be any consolidation in Athens proper,” said Regions Bank spokeswoman Evelyn Mitchell, who added that the closings won’t affect any branches in nearby counties, either. Regions Bank branches in Commerce, Jefferson, Madison and Winder will remain open. Employees at the branches targeted for closing will be reloc
  8. I wish they would rerun Season 2. Just got HBO and wish they would run Season 2 so I could watch it. Vampire Diaries has been a nice show - I didn't hold much hope for it but its been pretty good.
  9. If you want to PM me your specific questions I'll try to answer them. I use both a PC (for gaming) and a Mac (for everything else). Sounds like you were trying to burn a CD/DVD ? The Mac disk utility that comes with it does just that, no need for toast. As far as installing a file, once you unzip/untar it it may be in a dmg file. You click it which will mount it (will look like a mini drive icon on your screen), then drag/drop the program where you want it to go (usually either on your desktop or in your applications folder). Then rightclick the mini-drive icon and pick unmount. You can then d
  10. If you fill out the form on the FEMA site, you can go to SBA.GOV and click the link for disaster assistance, and there is a loan form in there. You make an account on there, fill out the form putting your FEMA number in the appropriate box. Then someone from the SBA will come out and take a look. They guy who came yesterday did a more thorough job of an inspection than the FEMA fellow did. I believe the interest rates are just over 2% or 5%, depending on your credit rating. Appears the worse your ability to repay is, the lower interest you get. From what he told me, FEMA's grant money will go
  11. I had a fellow come out to my place on Saturday, our basement got partially flooded but we did not lose anything serious, but the water came up through cracks in the floor. He was from Florida but didn't give us as much information as your fellow did. He did review our insurance policy and take down the information where we bought a dehumidifier. I have someone coming out from the SBA today to look at the damage for a possible loan/grant, but he's a local from Canton.
  12. The Home Depot in Lithia Springs actually had a "Flood Damage Section" setup and had several pallets of the dehumidifiers, but only the LG 65 pint ones for $249. I picked one up today (I work close to it) as we are fighting the mildew/earthy smell as well from our basement getting water in it that seeped up through small cracks in the foundation. Even had a small natural spring pop up in the middle of our back yard due to all the saturation, but disappeared once the ground began to dry out. I did go ahead and put in for FEMA assistance, as homeowners won't cover any of this.
  13. Try using twitter and contacting ComcastCares, I had someone at my house the next day to fix my problem, got personally contacted by a supervisor and given their direct line. And they sent out a real technician, not some knucklehead in his personal truck with a Comcast magnet on the side. When the technician left, I had two phone calls to see if I was satisfied. Sure beat every trying to get anyone on the telephone to give you decent service.
  14. It worked well when I first had one years ago, but as they sold more and more the quality I experienced went way down. I'm now using Skype for $2.99 a month and it works without any issues, including running it on my iPhone.
  15. Don't know much about camping, might ask over at http://forum.gon.com/ in the fishing section. I have heard that you don't want to stay at the one where camping is free, as there is plenty of rough/low-life activity along with public "adult" activities that go on there. Nothing you want to expose your kid too, or probably yourself.
  16. Got to meet him one time, my folks used to hang out with him when they were dating/teenagers.
  17. My 3GS is jailbroken (meaning I can put apps on it from outside the iTunes store, full read/write access) and the biggest one I use is called 3GUnrestrictor so I can run Skype when not on wifi. This allows me to use Skype to call my folks, who are on T-mobile (and not AT&T) so that I don't burn my minutes up. The other benefit is that when you are running on 3G watching youtube, you get the full version of the video, not the really lowbandwidth one that looks terrible.
  18. I have an iPhone 2G that I might be interested in parting with, I've upgraded to the 3GS. Might be more phone than you are looking for.
  19. I've used Dr. Tulman in Lithia Springs since about 1979, he's seen me since I was a kid.
  20. Chocolate and sleeping in a hot room will set mine off. One good way to help get rid of it thats cheap is those flexible refreezable gel ice packs. Those work great with tied around your head with a tight towel/cloth/old t-shirt.
  21. Wunder Radio - Best radio app, listen to stations anywhere, Nat'l Weather Service, and Police/Fire. Facebook CBSAtlanta Beejive IM - great multi-client instant messenger PandoraBox - Shows you all the sales/free apps that dropped their prices in the store. TweetDeck - Twitter Client USA Today - Great news source thats easy to navigate Public Radio Y! Music - Yahoo music CardStar - Store all of those Stapes/Office Depot/Petsmart type discount cards in one place. Craigsphone - Craigslist for the iPhone
  22. Go to http://forum.gon.com/ and hit up the freshwater fishing forums, or look in the Swap/Sell forums for Boating and Fishing supplies. If you decide to go boat fishing, remember you don't need a 25-30K boat to go fishing, an older inexpensive one works just as well.
  23. Not sure about ear plugs, but I can tell you what I use (though may not fit a 2 year old). I have a punctured ear drum and when I scuba dive, I use a mask called a Pro Ear 2000. It has cups that cover your ears preventing water getting in (long as you don't do loops in the water). You can blow out through your nose to put air in the cups to blow the water out just like you would to clear a mask. I've used it in both normal freshwater diving and in underwater caves with no issues. They are a bit pricey being about $70 on Amazon, and I'm not sure if there is a small one made for a child. IST als
  24. My wife and I have been hoping a Borders or Books a Million would come to Hiram/Dallas. Right now we end up buying everything from Amazon or the one out at the Avenue in Cobb.
