  1. Keep in mind with the new FHA rules, you will have PMI insurance for the entire life of the loan, but a lower down payment (typically 3.5%). Conventional you can eventually drop PMI but will have a higher downpayment (5%). There are also USDA loans for certain counties/properties, but they have a max income limit along with needing to be in a rural county (next door in Polk/Harrallson/etc). The govt loans may have more restrictions on what type of home you can get into (log cabins are hard to finance for example), whereas a conventional loan wouldn't have too much of an issue with it.
  2. I saw that too, pretty much a "derp" moment there.
  3. Bingo. I hate it for her too, but she pretty much tried to run things as if it were just a 2-3 person business, and its grown way beyond that. Its not as much what she did, but rather didn't do - and what her brother Bubba (and few others) did. It appears they only tried to do a few things when they thought the news media would get wind of it, very similar to how her apology came out once she saw companies dropping her. The interesting part in her deposition, is when they bring up that Bubba admitted he did some of these things, and other employees/managers testified that these things went on.
  4. This is why I took it a step further and just moved out of the county to agricultural zoned land with a good bit of acreage. I couldn't find any agricultural property within reason in Paulding, most everything was zoned residential, even with acreage.
  5. We just found us a new home with some acreage. In many cases by the time we found the information on the home and went to look at it, it would be under contract. And these homes weren't in prime school districts or anything like that, most were out in the "boonies" since we were looking for land with agricultural zoning. A few ever received above listing price offers. The one we managed to find we did a full price offer with seller paying part of the closing costs. Good luck on your home sell/search.
  6. I've lost quite a number of hives, a few to CCD, and others would be doing fine, then a week or two passes and all the bees are dead. I only keep a small number of hives. One year, I lost 2 out of 4. Next year, it was 3 out of 4. This year, I fought pretty hard with one struggling hive, combined it to make one strong hive, only to have that hive die out a month or so later. 100% losses. However, I was fortunate that a wild swarm decided to move into the old hive about a two weeks after all mine died, and they are doing quite well. I think its a lethal combination of everything - weakened h
  7. Send them a Cease and Desist letter, such as one below. http://credit.about.com/od/debtcollection/a/ceaseanddesist.htm
  8. Municode.com will show you the local ordinances for most things. One thing when looking at these, is they mostly address the "chicken house" that you typically think of with hundreds of chickens in them. There's not much in them about having a couple of chickens on residential lot, but there is crazy setbacks which are great for a 100' long chicken house, don't work too well for someone wanting a small pen in their backyard. TBH the best thing might be to get a local law passed to cover having chickens in a residential lot. There's plenty of examples of them out there. Douglas, Fulton, Car
  9. I think you need to be a resident of Alabama too.
  10. Google things like "grass fed beef georgia" and that should get you a few. I've bought a portion of a cow for the last few years from different folks. Spreading Oak Farms is at the farmers market thats over on Dallas Hwy across from Stars & Stripes, they sell beef. Last year I used Ford Farm, and it was pretty good. There is one or two out in Carrollton I believe as well. http://www.eatwild.com/products/georgia.html
  11. You get what is called a split. Its 1/4 front and 1/4 back.
  12. Glad that worked for you. I wish they did that when you just called the support number, but I've always gotten terrible service that way. I've used that e-mail once and complained on twitter twice, and got great results that way. Sometimes you just have to know to go around the "customer no service" and get someone who can help.
  13. With Comcast, don't deal with the terrible phone support. Send an e-mail to we_can_help@comcast.com, it goes up the chain a bit and ends up in some sort of executive support. I've never had good luck with trying to get issues fixed when calling Comcast, but reaching out via this e-mail or on twitter I've gotten a response, and they sent out a technician that actually works for Comcast (no contractor) and fixed my problems.
  14. Levaquin almost crippled me, while the rest of my family can take it with no issues. If you do a google search you can see some folks who it permanently incapacitated, putting them in a wheel chair. I was pretty close to that, but fortunately recovered after about two months of heavy pain meds (loritab, not something mild). I lost a great deal of physical strength, so much so I could not open jars, and every join in my body hurt tremendously. It was very scary. After about two months my strength slowly returned and the pain stopped. Because of that reaction, there's so many new antibiotics tha
  15. Google for the Atlanta Backyard Poultry meetup group. I know they used to do a yearly event where they sold/gave away little chicks. Someone on there may have some local as well, or know someone.
  16. My wife had a Tempo when we we first married, was a piece of junk. I would have been happy if someone would have stole that thing, it was barely worth the metal it was made out of.
  17. West Point WMA has an outdoor range I beleive, and there was one (pay) out towards Temple/Carrollton at a reload place. Its been a number of years since I've been to either location. There's no "open land" out here where you can just do anything. Each WMA has specific hunting seasons to it. For example, Sheffield during deer season is bow only, while Paulding Forest has a few days for gun, most of bow season, and a short time for black powder. When it isn't deer dates, its open for small game. Only national forest land (none around here) has a bit more open policy as far as what you can hunt (
  18. I know someone mentioned using wadcutters. Keep in mind you can't shoot wadcutters through semi-auto pistols, which is the ammo they appear to be using (9mm/40S&W).
  19. Same here, got my state refund today. But the Federal site says it may be up to 21 days from the date of acceptance before you get it.
  20. Yep, I've had the horror of hearing that one before
  21. This might top them all. Spock singing "Bilbo Baggins" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ_duzQzS1I
  22. Anything by Meatloaf, never understood his appeal at all.
  23. Didn't know there was another SCA'er on here. Used to go by Ld. Edward de Molay when I was active in Talmere and Owl's Nest.
  24. The one in Carrollton on 61 is still open, though they don't carry much of the old style stuff the one in Mableton did. Might try Lehmen Brothers, they do carry a good bit of older style items/Amish supplies, so they might have a dipper there.
