  1. I recently transcribed and reformatted a research paper for a neighbor. The entire paper was almost verbatim from a state department of health e-flyer on the subject. I was only supposed to transcribe and reformat, so I didn't critique but I feel quite sure that this person's paper was NOT what the instructor had in mind. The one you quoted just causes me to shake my head in disbelief. Makes one wonder if the person who submitted it even did a single minute of research.
  2. I TOLD my husband I heard thunder. He said he thought it was either 1) a train at the railyard 2) a jet passing over (we are on the flight path to Atlanta) or 3) a truck. Funny thing is it could have been any of them! But I was right!!!
  3. PENS Bulletin July 20, 2010 This is to address information circulating in West Cobb County and surrounding areas regarding an incident that occurred on July 18, 2010, in the parking lot of the Target located at 2535 Dallas Highway, Marietta, Ga. 30064. Cobb County CIU 5 detectives are investigating an incident in which a white male suspect was reported to have been hiding underneath his white panel truck in the parking lot while parked next to a female customer. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at approximately 11:00 AM. There was no contact between the male suspect and
  4. Yes, I remember. I stayed up late that night with my older sister so we could watch. That was the summer before I turned 14. My, where has the time gone?? My grandmother, who was 85 at the time, swore that the whole thing took place out in Arizona. She said man could NEVER go to the moon.
  5. The book I have from my daughter is "Encyclopedia of American Religions" fourth edition by J. Gordon Melton.
  6. I, too, am on the do-not-call list and feel that political calls should fall under that as well. I got SIX messages from five different candidates on Monday. Most, if not all, of them it was the fifth or sixth or twentieth call this month. I finally got to where I took my phone off the hook last Thursday because I was fed up with getting calls while we were trying to eat dinner or watch TV. I have AT&T voicemail, so the caller can leave a message without interrupting my meal. Will I vote for any of those who called yesterday? Nope. Not a one of them will get my vote, even if
  7. I have one, borrowed long term from my daughter, that might be very good for you, and him, to understand about a number of different religions and denominations. I haven't got the time right now to hunt it up but will this afternoon and post the name of it.
  8. They don't send out reports for all the cities but they do send them out for anything of interest. http://police.cobbcountyga.gov/pens/
  9. There are just so many stupid, wild things in this that I can't believe a word of it even though I know crooks are stupid. Someone made the point about how hot the asphalt is during the day. Well, YES, that was one of the days it was like 98 degrees so you can IMAGINE what that asphalt was like that day, even after dark. I think it was Pubby who mentioned the shear force of someone stepping down off the running board onto someone. That alone could crush some ribs if not other more tender parts of the body. And I can't imagine being between the hot underside of a vehicle and the a
  10. I get them for the precinct that would cover that Target, too.
  11. Marc, I try to tell you every chance I get how much I appreciate what you do, even if you don't work for *MY* local police department. Thank you very much for what you do!! Love ya' big guy
  12. the card-carrying cynic in me says because it never happened. I'm sure a call to the City of Acworth PD would prove that out. I get updates and bulletins from the Cobb PD and there hasn't been anything said about it.
  13. Sure you can. Buy an unlocked phone, slip the SIM card in and you're good to go. Hubby has a Google Nexus and purchased it outright. It works great. He even got the data plan and it worked fine. Didn't extend the contract or anything.
  14. Interestingly enough, we have AT&T and NEVER have dropped calls. We rarely can get or make a call at home on our cells, but it was that way when we had T-Mobile or Verizon either one. Those are issues with the proximity of the towers to our house and the topography, though. Be sure to check the online coverage map for Verizon and check anywhere you might be using the phone, not just at your home. We are leaving AT&T when our contract is up in October but only because we don't need the same level of cell phone service that we now have. Not only are we leaving AT&T for ou
  15. I don't mind the ads so much, I just tune them out like any other commercial. It's the PHONE CALLS I can't stand because my husband seems to think there is something wrong with letting the phone ring when you KNOW the call is a political call. Or any other kind for that matter.
  16. Depending on the situation, I will sometimes move the cart for them. Or if I'm really feeling dicey I will "accidently" run into it.
  17. People who call this year "twenty ten". People in the grocery store, Walmart, K-mart, wherever who park their carts in the middle of the aisle and then give YOU a dirty look when you try to go around them or cuss you out when you ask them to move so you can go around them. I used to go to church with a woman who the branch manager of a local bank. Her grammar was horrible!! Made me glad I didn't bank there.
  18. Sure you don't want to trade? I'll give you a husband in trade. BTW, I like your store. Maybe all Pcommers should wear name tags so we would know when we see another one.
  19. I love the gulf coast. It's where my heart lives.
  20. What a cutie!! But alas, I don't need a kid. Maybe a trade. Give a husband AND a usually housebroken cat in exchange.
  21. That's the one I was looking for last night when I found the other one!!
  22. http://www.georgiapower.com/pluggedin/fuel_case_2009_12.asp Technically, they did not have a rate increase but instead had an increase in the fuel cost, which naturally they passed along to the customer.
  23. I think with Georgia Power you can look at any of your past bills online. The actual bill, too.
  24. If mine is as high accordingly as some I've read on here, you will hear a loud boom coming from southwest Cobb.
