The gas, water and power at our rental are in our name, so we can take advantage of budget billing (plus our daughter lives there in the house). I signed up for budget billing through Ga Power last year and I love it (other than the increase of $17 a month). I wanted to sign up for budget billing for the gas because we have bills of $14 in the summer but $314 in the winter. The lady I talked to at Austell Gas suggested we NOT sign up for it because we would be paying more year round. Well, yes, that's true but we wouldn't get socked with a $300+ bill in January while paying pocket change f

There's the problem! Ga Power. They got a HUGE rate increase about two months ago. I think it went into effect in June, at the same time summer rates went into effect and we had 19 straight days of temps over 90 degrees. My budget bill for our rental went from $109 a month to $126 a month! All this talk about really high electric bills has me worried about mine. We turned on our air on June 1, about a month earlier than usual and while we don't use it during the day, it does run a lot at night. I, for one, am not convinced that the new compact fluoroscent lights save on your e

did you know that your phone # cell and home is now on

I only had seven friends whose phone numbers showed up. What shows up on Facebook depends largely on your privacy settings. I have mine pretty solid. You can check to see what your profile looks like to your friends. -
There is also another "not a Facebook virus" on there.

sold my car but what do I do with the tag?
Mama Carol replied to Mama Carol's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Oh, I'm getting bird house plans! And bird feeder plans. And woodworking plans. Looking at all of that. May hit the library, too. Guess I won't turn in those tags after all. I DID pay for them, might as well keep them. -

Have you been looking at my web searches???? I was looking at birdhouse plans!! Seriously. I saw bird houses with car tags as roofs earlier today. Are you sure you haven't been looking at my web searches? I sure hope not. -

I'm in Cobb, so I can go to the South Cobb Service Center. I feel sure the new owner is going to change title to him shortly. Don't know why I didn't think to keep a copy of the bill of sale for me. Everything happened so fast I didn't think about it! -
If your husband ever says you're right, record it for future use.

Years ago I had a friend whose house had a "living room" which was where the nicer furniture was and the kids were not allowed in there except for special occasions and then they had a "den" or "family room" which was where the couch and TV were as well as where the kids stayed most of the time. Why not call Room A the "living room" and Room B the "family room"? And check the description given by the real estate agent in the listing. That might settle it for once and all.

sold my car but what do I do with the tag?
Mama Carol replied to Mama Carol's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Oh boy. I didn't keep anything showing I sold the car, other than the money, of course. So, I don't have proof that I sold it. I would think the buyer is going in the next day or two to get the tag but otherwise, I have no proof. He has a bill of sale but I forgot to keep a copy of it. We turned in our trailer tag since it wasn't going to be used again. Waiting until I turn the tag in to cancel the insurance (heard horror stories about people who did it the other way around). They do change the dang laws all the time and I didn't know what the current law was. We -
sold my car but what do I do with the tag?

I may never have another vehicle registered in my name. Not sure why I would keep the tag. -
I sold my car on Friday. I kept the tag, as I know you are supposed to do, but now what??? Do I take the tag to the tag office and turn it in? Do I do that before I cancel my insurance? The only experience I have had with doing this since you started keeping the tag was when we sold a utility trailer. No insurance to cancel on that and hubby just took tag in and turned it in. And what about those other speciality tags I had through the years? Should I take them, too? None of the tags will be going on another vehicle for the foreseeable future. TIA

Hey, that looks like a guy who used to live about two blocks from me! I wondered what happened to him. SERIOUSLY, there was a "couple" who lived a couple of blocks from me that ONE of them either was a man living as a woman or the ugliest woman I've ever seen. Hubby told me he was sure it was a man dressed as a woman. But the other person there looked like this guy. SERIOUSLY! Just never saw that one in drag.

Three stories, two "where's a cop when you need one" and the other just karmic justice. For the where's a cop story, we were going down I-16 a few years ago. Just going along a little faster than the speed limit but both of us were on the lookout for cops because my hubby had been down that road many times before and knew the state patrol heavily patrolled that stretch. We came upon a state patrol at one point and slowed down. The trooper got about a half mile ahead of us but out of sight of anyone behind us in a smaller vehicle. So....... here comes this red Honda Civic or something s

We ran into a similar problem a few months ago. The shower in our rental house stopped working. Hubby went and did a diagnostic procedure to determine if it was a valve problem or if it was a shower head problem. Turned out it was a fixture problem. The bathtub/shower fixture came from Home Depot (Glacier Bay if memory serves me correctly). Home Depot DOES NOT CARRY replacement parts for these. Fixtures.com does not carry the part. You MIGHT be able to get a replacement part if you could find the model number but that's *inside the wall*. We tried several plumbing supply places (yes, e

I certainly understand that other people in children's lives may have information about immunizations, but come on, we have had the same phone number for 31 years and in the last two census years reported nobody here but the two of us. You would think that information would be available, if information about everyone is as readily available as we are led to believe. I plan to call them to do the survey because I don't answer calls from unknown numbers. I was merely curious who else might have received the survey. Gosh, I hope they don't ask about the immunization MY kids had because I

We got a letter yesterday about the National Immunization Survey. It said it was a study about vaccinations and children's health. Said our phone number was chosen randomly by computer. The survey is being conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Seems odd that we would get chosen for a survey about vaccinations and children's health since we don't have children of any age living here and haven't had kids at home since 2000. Even then, she was 20, so she wasn't a "child". Just curious if anyone else got this lette

Double prayers for your dad. I lost my dad to liver cancer, so that is a disease that is close to my heart. Hugs to you, too!

Paulding County Woman Stops Bus After Driver Passes Out

Maybe that a local restaurant pay for dinner for them and a guest. -
So far what I've written hasn't been embarrassing or anything. Just good, warm fuzzy memories primarily of my grandmother, who lived right around the corner from us. I saw her almost every single day of my life until she went to the hospital shortly before she passed away. Since my granddaughters Starr and Drusilla won't ever know their great grandparents on my side of the family, I thought it would be something that could connect them to the past.

Way to go, Lorraine!! Let's hope that Victor is OK. Does anyone know his condition? -
I actually started writing a childhood/teen memory journal about a year ago. I thought it would be nice to give to my granddaughters someday.

As a word of warning to anyone looking at foreclosures, short sales, auction property or bank owned, don't get mixed up with two things: #1--a certain auction company out of California which sounds like a color (RED) or #2--anything that has title issues. Make sure it has a clean title BEFORE you start the process of buying it. That in essence was the killer of our deal--a title issue. Fannie Mae actually has owned the property we are trying to buy since AUGUST 2008! It has been to auction at least twice, and about to go again. It has to be sold as-is for cash, so there aren't too man
