  1. I have never, ever left a pet inside while setting off the bug bombs. Wouldn't even THINK about it. Only once in 31 years have I used bug bombs and not have them work. That was years ago when we set them off just as we were walking out the door to go on vacation for a week. Came back to a much worse infestation than we left. That time, had to call the exterminator. Maybe we have more potent fleas because home remedies have NEVER worked for us. When I use the foggers, I always leave them longer than the directions say, I always open all the windows as soon as I come back in and I alwa
  2. OK, call me crazy but it just seems WRONG to run on a platform of putting Georgians back to work when you use telemarketing firms from THREE other states to tell us your platform. There are probably dozens of telemarketing firms in the metro Atlanta area alone who would KILL for the contract to do telemarketing for a candidate. WHY send those jobs to other states? Even if the telemarketer recording the message is from Georgia, the telemarketing company should be, too, if you're SERIOUS about putting Georgians back to work. Just for the record, I admire Gov. Jan Brewer from Arizona and
  3. It's been a good while since I went by the dump, so there may be apartments there that I don't know about.
  4. the ranch condos on Powder Springs Road or something else? My sister lives between Calloway and County Services, so she is near the composting facility.
  5. Don't. I've been unemployed since November and my hubby has been disabled since March. Wish we didn't have to work because that is what we wanted but unfortunately, that is not the case.
  6. It's not just you. We have been gone all week, leaving on Sunday which we do quite often but don't usually stay gone until Thursday. Of course, Tuesday we thought it was Monday and Wednesday we thought it was Thursday. Yesterday seemed like Friday and today seems like Saturday. Oh, the perils of not working. Can't remember WTH day it is.
  7. One fogger per room (and make it a good FLEA fogger that kills fleas and their eggs), good flea bath for the dog followed by a brand new flea collar. If you have them outside as well, treat with equal parts sevin dust and lime spread like you would spread fertilizer. Most of those "home remedies" for fleas don't work. Tried just about every single one of them and can attest to the fact they don't work.
  8. My sister went to Osborne for two years and then went to Wills for two years, graduating in the first graduating class.
  9. My sister lived in Fountain View many years ago--more than 35 years, closer to 40. They were pretty nice at that time. Later, she moved to the apartments next door to Osborne and they weren't bad either. That was in 1973. I grew up in Smyrna but now don't even care to go to visit and sure as heck don't want to live anywhere around there.
  10. Some areas have primary and elementary schools and therefore, have two buses go through the same neighborhood. It's that way where my daughter lives in Austell. The kids in the area go to Austell Primary (K-2) and to Austell Elementary (3-5), so there are two buses for those. Plus the one for Garrett and the one for South Cobb. If your friends sister did indeed call the school and was told that, I think whoever told her that was pulling her leg. However, bus drivers might know better.
  11. Along the lines of having actually gotten the virus, my AV software (Kaspersky) blocked it. BUT when I go to the report it shows that virus twice and two others. When I click on them to quarantine them, I can't. Would it be safe to just delete them from the list on the report?
  12. I use IE8 and Kaspersky and was given a message that the AV software blocked it.
  13. As someone who lives within earshot of the railyard on Westside Road, I pity the people who live near the proposed rail spur. I really, truly do. The railyard has been awful for the area. I am truly happy Paulding is getting industry but really, during a recession???
  14. My AV software has the time as 8:07:28 a.m. this morning. I thought it might have been just me since I'm using a connection in a hotel room and had been on an unsecured wireless connection last night. In some ways, I'm glad it wasn't just me. I may know QuickBooks but I am pretty clueless about computers. Running full scan at this moment.
  15. Hey, GT, minor hijack--tell our mutual friend I said hello!
  16. I use online bill pay through Suntrust and have had zero problems getting payments to the appropriate people. I also have paid a few bills online through GEMC credit union and have had zero problems getting payments to the appropriate people. All for free, where most of those "pay your bill here online" places charge a "convenience fee".
  17. you are not required to accept any friend request you don't want to accept. I've gotten several from people I don't know and I just decline it. Now I have my settings to where only friends of friends can do a friend request. In fact, someone on Pcom and I wanted to become FB friends and I had to send the request because she couldn't request me.
  18. Your Yahoo settings could probably stop that from happening. You're probably sharing your updates with everyone and have the settings to where everyone can see your updates and send you requests. FB works pretty much the same way, too.
  19. The day I went, back right before Thanksgiving, there were people there when I got there who were still there when I left. And I was there for about FOUR HOURS! One person I talked to said she was there for an additional filing and had been out of work for over a year. Didn't understand why she had to come back in either. She said she had been able to claim her weeks without coming back in before. She was there when I got there and there when I left. I just hope I don't have to go back in for any reason. The DOL may work a lot like the Social Security office--they may have different
  20. There is no DOL office in Douglasville. Closest to Douglasville would be Carrollton. Wow, you had a two minute meeting? The "class" I had to attend was about 35 minutes long, after a 3 hour wait.
  21. You can go to any DOL office and file. The one in Cobb may be closer to you depending on where in Paulding you live. A word of advice: don't go between 10 and 1 to the one in Kennesaw because you have to attend a class and they don't do it between 11 and 1, so if you get there too late to attend the 10 a.m. class, you have to wait until 1. So, go earlier than 10, say 8:30 or so or later than 12:30. I made the mistake of getting there just after 11 and then had to wait until the 1:00 class. Be sure to take your separation notice from your employer because it speeds things up. A
  22. Just having been through proverbial he** with trying to buy a house in Florida over the past month to six weeks, I would advise anyone wanting to buy any kind of real estate to DEAL WITH ONLY THE HOMEOWNER! Forget the companies that "mass sell" anything at foreclosure prices and especially avoid the auctions! I can't stress this enough. Foreclosures are great deals IF you don't mind putting half as much into the house/condo as you paid for JUST to get it to where you can live in it; if you have a strong stomach and can clean up the filth that previous owners and/or tenants left behind
  23. My grandmothers were awesome cooks. My mother was an awesome cook. My daughter is an awesome cook. I am marginal. Can't make fried chicken (Grandma could), can't make biscuits (grandma could), can't fry okra worth a darn (my mom could).
