any Fedex shipping point should be able to take it. If it isn't any larger than an envelope, you could even drop it in a Fedex box. Not sure where the closest one would be, but if you go to their website you should be able to find one. Many industrial parks have them. I think you can also request a pick up from Fedex.

He doesn't need job training. He just wants to attend college while unemployed. It's something he has wanted to do since he got out of the Army back in the mid 1970s. He got job training and has worked since 1976. Now, he's unemployed and wants to go back to college.

I think less that this is a scam and just people who are genuinely excited about finding something they are looking for. That said, I would never EVER sell something that I've advertised online for anything other than cash. And yes, the buyer of my car paid cash. I still see it every few days, too. That's cool. I hope he is enjoying it. It should serve him well. When I was trying to sell my car, I put an ad on here and on Craigslist. I pulled it from CL after the first day because of the scams people tried to pull with me. One person wanted to drive from midtown Atlanta to Powde

I thought they said "similar" in both distance and pay. IOW, if you were working 10 miles from home, making $15.00 an hour (or $35,000 a year, $3000 a month or whatever), you didn't have to take anything that wasn't similar and wouldn't lose your unemployment if you were offered a job working 25 miles from home, making $8 an hour (or whatever). I've found it's hard to know what some jobs pay until you actually apply for them. I've also found it's next to impossible to get a response to an online application or resume submission. I've had two responses out of 40 applications/resumes su

I *thought* I remembered hearing that if you were in school you were exempt from the job seeking requirement. I couldn't find that anywhere in the manual or online. I didn't pay much attention to it when I was there applying for unemployment because it didn't apply to me. My friend said her husband didn't pay that much attention to it either, thinking it wouldn't apply to him either. The hubby is sharp as a tack, probably near genius (seriously). He's an older student, but not yet old enough to be exempt from paying tuition. Them paying for it themselves shouldn't be a problem. The

I had a friend call me today to ask me a question about unemployment and not only could I not answer her question, I couldn't find it on the DOL website either. Maybe someone on here can help me. I thought I remembered it being discussed when I applied for unemployment but couldn't find anything in the manual either. Friend's hubby was laid off about two months ago. He is drawing unemployment. He wants to go back to school. What effect, if any, would this have on his unemployment. He's looking to go to Georgia Highlands now that they have a campus in Douglasville, which is where th

I found an Eton/Red Cross radio that responds to these frequencies: WEATHER FREQUENCIES Below are the frequencies that correspond to the Weather channels. Channel 1 162.400 MHz Channel 2 162.425 MHz Channel 3 162.450 MHz Channel 4 162.475 MHz Channel 5 162.500 MHz Channel 6 162.525 MHz Channel 7 162.550 MHz So, it would appear that the frequency for Paulding is in there. I know my Sony has several bands and I do get the one for Cobb, Paulding, Douglas and the eastern parts of Carroll and Polk. I must say, I prefer the weather radio I got at Kroger.
-
Probably no particular setting for Paulding. You must have one similar to mine--a Sony Dream Machine. It has several weatherbands but no particular setting for one particular area. For that, best I understand it, you would need a weather radio like the ones sold at Kroger. Great radios, BTW. I have one. I need to hook it back up once I figure out where it will go. I disconnected it to move things around and now the file cabinet it used to sit on is in my sunroom and not my office.

Hopefully, they had this on all the local news programs. My daughter just bought lunchmeat at Walmart about two weeks ago. I'm sure it's all gone by now, but wouldn't hurt for her to know about the recall.

the chickens probably belong to someone behind the Rite Aid. Word of warning: obey the speed limit by South Cobb High, particularly on Austell Road, because they will flat pull your butt over! When my mom was in hospice and my hubby was going over there every morning to stay with her, he saw someone pulled over almost every day!

They also didn't show the crooked business people taking advantage of victims of the storm. We have friends who live near Dauphin Island (just on the mainland from there actually). They got help from FEMA rather quickly. Family, friends and neighbors helped them, too. Red Cross was there. Their house was COMPLETELY, totally washed away. There wasn't even the foundation left! It took them over two years to get another house even though FEMA released the money by the end of 2005. They bought a manufactured home and the dealer kept delivering the WRONG house. Even though FEMA had paid th

shall we see how some of the people here locally are doing in four years, when it has been five years since the flood? I'd be willing to bet there will still be houses sitting empty, abandoned and full of crap from Sweetwater Creek. Recovering from hurricanes or floods, which generally impact larger areas than do tornadoes, takes a long time. I just got back from the Pensacola area. There are STILL houses there that have not yet been rebuilt from Hurricane Ivan in 2004--a full 13 months BEFORE Katrina.

and we all know the media NEVER slants anything a particular way. Give me a break. I just got back from the gulf coast and have seen firsthand the slant the media gives to THAT issue.

How can you tell by looking that someone is gay? I don't know about you, but I don't go up to someone ANYWHERE and ask them if they are straight or gay. I personally don't give a rat's furry behind what other people do in the privacy of their own home. If you openly avoid gays whenever and wherever possible, you're missing out on some wonderful people. BTW, I am militantly straight! For the record, I'd been going to my GYN for about two years before I found out she is gay. Does it change how I feel about her and how much I trust her to do what is in my best interest? Not o

the way I understand discrimination laws, employers with fewer than a certain number of employees (which vary between 15 and 20 employees) are not subject to many of the discrimination laws. And you're absolutely correct--sexual orientation is not a protected status. they shouldn't, but many of them do. That's a fact.

I personally believe b is the answer here. And I totally, 1001% agree with your last statement!

I know of a restaurant in Marietta who refused to serve a YOUNG couple (both under 20), one of whom was disabled. And yes, I PERSONALLY know of this occurence. Bob Jones University receives federal money, so they didn't have a leg to stand on.
-
Why? It's been a couple of years since I was a landlord but I don't believe it would be breaking any law to refuse to rent to an unmarried couple. If you refused to rent to an unmarried minority couple but refused to rent because they were members of a minority and not because they were unmarried, THAT would break a law. Refusing to rent to an unmarried couple, a single person or someone under a certain age is NOT illegal. It's your property and you have that right.

Did You Apply For Social Security/SSDI?
Mama Carol replied to Christopher Robin's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Probably. He has tried a lot of different things, both over the counter and prescription. The meds he took to start with helped but then they stopped and he had to go on something else. He is more than likely going to have a nerve block type procedure in October. If it works, about a 50/50 chance of that, it should last for anywhere from 6-18 months. At that time, they can do the procedure again. Key word is IF it works. Ortho and GP both have very little confidence in it and even the pain doc isn't real sure about it BUT it is worth a try. His problem is not necessarily pain from -

That makes me feel better. I was afraid that somehow attorneys had been provided with information about who had and had not applied. -
Did You Apply For Social Security/SSDI?

Almost everyone who is mentally ill and going to the inpatient mental health program in Austell are on either SSDI or SSI and some are on both programs. While I know how devastating mental illness can be and how difficult it can be to work with some mental disorders, it seems that there is a huge number of people on SSDI for those problems and fewer who cannot (or should not) do physical work. Before anyone jumps on me about that statement, let me make it clear that I have dealt with mental illness in my family--both in family members and depression/anxiety in myself. I KNOW how debilitatin -
The guy who did the windshield in my hubby's F250 did a great job and for a reasonable amount of money. I don't think I have his name or number but can get it.

Did You Apply For Social Security/SSDI?

I have a cousin who was denied twice, got an attorney and finally won. In looking through the SSA information online, it appears that your job history has a lot to do with whether or not you get approved easily. If all you've ever done is heavy, manual labor and you have no transferable skills and are 59+, apparently it is easier to get approved than if you have never done anything but sedetary work and are 40. Hubby would fall into this first group, as he turned 59 in June and has a work history full of heavy, manual labor. In his situation, not only can he not work due to the pain but th -

I thought yours was just retirement. Congrats on that, BTW. We hope he's approved, too. I'm not currently working and in spite of sending in probably 40 resumes I haven't received a single call. Nobody wants to hire a 55 year old administrative assistant/accounting clerk/tax preparer. They want someone who will be tickled pink with $8 an hour and that ain't me. We're looking around for someone to take over my husband's work load so we can continue to operate our business. Extremely difficult to find someone young enough who doesn't require benefits or full time work. We can't prov
