  1. The night before the primary we had a guy come by who was running for city council. We loved talking with him. He was knowledgeable about the city, which helped us as newcomers learn about the city. He was once a newcomer himself so he could relate to us. He told us how many properties he owned in the county and after he left my husband said he didn't believe that. I went online and found out the man was telling the truth. I had limited time to check him out, but I did. I didn't believe everything he told me hook, line and sinker. I specifically asked about people he should have known,
  2. Last I heard, the pres_ent had no say in the minimum wage law unless Congress decides to change it and the pres_ent signs the bill into law. Pretty sure he doesn't get a "vote". then again, I studied American Government back in 1972 and 1973. It's changed since that.
  3. BS http://www.politifact.com/georgia/statements/2014/jul/16/jack-kingston/pillowtex-accusations-overstate-point/
  4. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family, especially Jan. RIP Rod.
  5. the church where we used to go drained the baptistery every Sunday evening. It wasn't refilled until the following Saturday when the person who cleaned refilled it. Whether or not this approach would help where the amoeba is concerned, I don't know. I've been to some churches that used pool chemicals in their baptistery because they didn't want the hassle of emptying it and cleaning it as often.
  6. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Jason Vaughn. He is at 92 and East Paulding. He's not a commerce member so I can't post his contact info. PM me and I'll give it to you or you can Google "Vaughn Chiropractic" in Dallas, GA and it will pop up. He's easy on the eyes, too. He will do xrays before he sees you, too.
  7. Ice it, maybe take an anti-inflammatory (Motrin or Aleve). Then go to a chiropractor who won't lay a hand on you until you've had either an xray or a MRI. Medical doctors just want to drug you up. Chiropractors will fix ya'.
  8. Apparently offensive to the person selling tickets. As someone who has worked the ticket booth at a theater and who had to check IDs, I can definitely say it is all up to the ticket seller's discretion who to ask for an ID in that situation. I would imagine that feeling offended about a T-shirt would work the same way. What offends one person might not offend another. As I said, the shirt didn't offend me. Had he been wearing a shirt with a swastika, I would have been offended. My parents, who both were in their 30s during World War II, were offended by surfer crosses because they wer
  9. I personally didn't find the shirt to be offensive. But I believe that if you're going to visit an amusement park, a courthouse, a theater,a private business or even an individual, you need to abide by their rules. If they said the shirt was offensive and he needed to change it, he should have changed it. I don't care if he was the president. He should have played by their rules.
  10. I am ignorant and apathetic about who is and is not a paying member. I don't know and I don't care. That is their business and not mine. I hope everyone else is as concerned about it as I am. Pubby is the one who should care and know. Not me, not TP, not El Zorro. Pubby. Saying hi to Pubby!!
  11. I kept getting e-mails from them that said "do you wonder what XX is up to these days?" Well, one of the people it was talking about is someone I have kept in touch with through the years and who is a friend on FB. Another one passed away in '05. So why on earth would I pay classmates.com to tell me something I already know? As for the other people it used to send me e-mails asking if I knew them, I didn't know most of them as they were 5 or 6 years behind me.
  12. That was during a time when being a habitual offender was a capital offense in some states. Times have changed. Now you kill someone, get a death sentence, live 25 years in prison and then people feel sorry for your suffering because you didn't did instantly when your death sentence is finally carried out. But some people act like corruption is worse than murdering someone. I've had friends and family members murdered. I'm pretty sure that's worse than corruption.
  13. Damn!!! I did. Thanks for the reminder of that.
  14. Bonnie & Clyde were just sweet, innocent kids out for a good time. Never meant to kill those nine LEOs that they did. Or the several civilians that they allegedly killed. Did you know that Bonnie was considered an accomplice to over 100 felonies, during a time that being considered a "habitual criminal" was a capital offense?
  15. Friends are what got me through a deep, dark depression that began in 2001. I don't know that I would have made it without them. Friends can be a literal lifesaver. Most of the time, much better than going to a psychologist or psychiatrist. Glad you're still here. I definitely remember DeerSlayer. I wondered what happened to you.
  16. Me either! My two youngest granddaughters are home schooled and I'm lost on that stuff. First grade and Pre-k and I'm lost!!
  17. Yeah, typo there. And so glad you didn't call me for help on this one. We both would have been lost.
  18. Not so. Your post maybe but not the one that the OP posted. Things have changed since 2012.
  19. One of my friends said that first day of junior high he got into a fist fight with another guy. They ended up becoming best friends, joining the Army and going through basic training together. I knew both of them in high school and knew everything he said was true. It's funny how usually if kids are allowed to handle things like this themselves, they end up being friends.
  20. Having Tennessee on the list does not surprise me. I have a very good friend who lives in Knoxville and he says that almost weekly some politician has been arrested for something. I did like the comment it made about Florida and building inspectors. Real estate agents are pretty shady here, too. Probably shadier than inspectors or bogus speed traps. I know a boatload of them and don't trust a one. Still, at least we aren't in Georgia or Alabama.
  21. When our youngest was in either 5th or 6th grade, we had a family move into the neighborhood who had something like six kids. Five boys and a girl. The girl was meaner than a snake, too. She was an 8th grader, if I remember correctly. I know she was several years older than our daughter. Anyway, she would terrorize the other kids in the neighborhood, especially the girls. There was a girl who was a couple of years younger than our daughter who our daughter was real good friends with. This bully girl would hit the younger girl and my daughter. Both just took it. I finally sat my daught
  22. Sounds like the problem has been taken care of.
