I really hate to say this because I have people I consider good friends who are real estate agents and I used to deal with some of the biggest developers and builders in Paulding, but the entire real estate industry is corrupt, from the commissioners on down to the real estate agents, brokers, closing attorneys, etc. Reminds me of when my cousin told my mom he was running for school board and she told him she was disappointed because she thought he was an honest man. Being a politician and an honest person are mutually exclusive. Same goes for being involved in real estate, apparently

Not if they have your mortgage.

Ours. Our senior cups. Never had to wait more than a few minutes at Martins for food. Worth the wait though.

Not sure which is worse. BOA or the Paulding BOC. It's a close race.

Stopped by the pcom office. (and scared pubby)

I remember Arthur. He did seem like a pretty good guy. Of course, I remember Max and his sister when they were in elementary school. Max was older, about the same age as my sister, but I remember him. I love Smyrna the way it was when I was growing up. It's nothing like that now and hasn't been for probably 20 years or so. We lived so far out in the country, we couldn't even use city facilities like the pools or the library. Now it IS in the city. Well, it might as well be. City of Smyrna completely surrounds the house where I grew up. If God is willing, that property will be in -

And here I thought you walked in and he didn't hear you. I know more than one person scared the crap out of me that way! Yes, I understand why your mom asked you not to get involved. I hate the City of Smyrna. -
I had a neighbor when we still lived in Powder Springs who tried for over two years to work with BOA to get a modification on his loan. Attempt after attempt was thwarted by them with excuses for the delay. Finally one day he said "screw it, y'all can HAVE the house". He moved out within two weeks. Said he was sick and tired of dealing with BOA. The really bad thing is he continued to pay his mortgage the entire time. His house had lost half the value and he wanted to modify everything. They would agree with it, then deny it. Agree, then deny. It was like however the tide turned was w

Go inside. The wait there is usually a lot less than the drive thru.

Man, do I miss my Martin's sausage, biscuit and egg in the morning! We have nothing even close. I've had to learn how to make a halfway decent substitute. We had to go back up there earlier in the year. We were heartbroken that we forgot our Martin's coffee cups. We ended up eating at IHOP. Martins would have been much, much better. Their biscuits are to die for (and because of). They offer a senior breakfast, which gives a small discount on your food and if you're a member of the breakfast club (just for the asking), you get a free beverage (coffee, tea or soda).

I think someone needs to call for help. I agree with Pubby!! That's twice this week. Yes, it does lie with the incumbents and their cozy relationships with those in the financial industry. We had a similar discussion with a candidate for city council here.

The county did not issue the eviction order, nor did they foreclose on the property. The bank did that. So, I think the outrage needs to be at the bank, particularly for doing the eviction at a time like this when Thad is recovering from surgery. THAT IS UNETHICAL AND IMMORAL. At minimum, they should have been given time to make other arrangements in light of his current health. I'm furious with the BANK! But then again, if it's BOA or Fannie Mae, I know what to expect from them and it has no resemblance to ethics or morality. Quite frankly, the VA is just as bad. I have never equ

As I understand it, the bank foreclosed on the house. Is that not correct? I totally sympathize with them on all counts but how is this the fault of the county and their fight against the county? Pretty sure they don't have control over Bank of America, Fannie Mae or whoever initiated the eviction. If it was Fannie Mae, nobody has control over them. They pretty much do what they damn well please. I don't even think the federal government has control over them. FWIW, I think the county did them dirty but they aren't the first people that was done to and won't be the last. I deal

That's what it sounded like to me, too. But I really was confused about who was making them move. Thanks.
-
I'm confused. Who is forcing them out of their house? The bank that has the mortgage or the county that they fought? I would not have wanted to be the deputy who took Melissa in. I feel sorry for him/her. Melissa is a feisty gal. Hope all gets straightened out soon for them. They are nice people.

LOL. I was thinking the same thing. There MUST be something wrong with one of us for me to agree with Pubby. TB was a totally different animal back then. I remember in the late 1960s or early 1970s they were still "confining" people with it to sanitariums. There was one in Rome, in fact. And the stigma on the family was horrible. TB was talked about in hushed voices for fear that someone would think it was YOUR family member who had it.
-
Exactly right, Stradial. Back then, TB was a death sentence and generally a horrible death. Again, not taking up for the guy, but he did leave his daughter a great legacy. I'm sure she would have preferred to have had him with her but it might have only been six months if he had stayed. One does not need to carry around for the rest of their life the memory of seeing a parent waste away due to a terminal illness. BTDT. And yeah, maybe the wife did say stay away. Maybe she didn't want to take care of him any more than he wanted them to see him die. We will never know. I thin

Anyone who is in charge of "drug" identification and mistakes okra for pot needs to be fired. Not demoted, certainly not promoted. Fired. Even from the air they look different, I would think. I've been told that pot is a particular shade of green while growing and is unmistakable from the air. I remember a few years before the rail yard went in near Austell, there was a big pot field found in that area. It was found during a routine flyover by the state patrol or some other law enforcement agency. They weren't even looking for pot. That field had that particular shade of green that
