  1. Actually it was tied to the unemployment rate being 8.5% or higher.
  2. We TRIED to hire someone to take over our business. Tried and tried and tried. We couldn't find anyone who had the skills or the desire. We had to close up because my hubby isn't physically able to do the work and it involves physical work but it goes way beyond a physical ability to do the work. Nobody we interviewed or even tried on a temporary basis was willing to do the work. It's not like we were paying $8 an hour either! We started our guys out making about $40k a year, more if they showed initiative and that didn't include covering their expenses. The physical work was MAYBE 16 h
  3. First of all, anyone drawing unemployment would or SHOULD be notified by the DOL when they are about to lose their benefits. I was. Edited to add, if one is certifying online, they get messages on the certification page that gives information about any changes to unemployment in general. They also get notices in the mail in regard to THEIR unemployment. And you are so right about jobs being a lot harder to find than some people think. My husband, for one. He still thinks jobs are out there just for the asking. He forgets that he had a problem finding one last time he was unemploye
  4. The unemployment rate and whether or not a person is eligible to draw are not in any way related. If the unemployment rate were .5% and you lost your job you could still draw. I think the length of time you can draw has been shortened. I think the maximum length of time you can draw now is 26 weeks.
  5. would it be possible to contact the landlord and have THEM change the locks?
  6. I thought Electric Beach was a tanning salon. BUT it is listed as a home decor store.
  7. My best friend had a wonderful time at the library.
  8. My best friend used to work at the library just off South Cobb Drive in Fair Oaks. The one next to the fire station. She would just stand at the window and drool when the guys would work out with weights. She was a big wrestling fan and one of her favorites was a Cobb County firefighter as well and worked out of the Fair Oaks station! She loved her job!
  9. There are a few EMTs I wouldn't mind seeing either.
  10. I haven't seen many cops I wanted to frisk me but I have seen some firefighters I want to rescue me.
  11. Details. I need details. Which one? Where? I'm thinking a new wireless printer is the way to go. Seriously. The printer server thing-a-ma-jiggie is more than the printer I looked at a couple of weeks ago!
  12. Flu season can be any time of the year. It is more common from October to March but can happen any month of the year. Hope you get to feeling better soon. If you're pretty sure it's the flu, you might get to the doctor and ask for Tamiflu. It really, truly does make it more bearable and shortens the time you have symptoms.
  13. Not one. I already knew it wasn't wireless but he swears it is. It was purchased before wireless printers were common. And it's a cheap printer. I have done some research and I can buy a printer server for it but for the cost I'd be further ahead to buy a wireless printer!
  14. My husband SWEARS my printer is wireless. I don't think so. In fact, I'm pretty sure it isn't. Is there a way I can convert it to wireless?
  15. My deepest sympathy to Ms Ruth, Faron and the rest of the family. I really liked Mr Ray.
  16. I have so many good memories of her music.
  17. When it gets right down to it, isn't all money other people's money? You work and get paid but that's not YOUR money. You only get to use it.
  18. I bet he has interested persons contacting him already. Like DNR.
  19. Sometimes money isn't the deciding factor. And if years later you don't regret your decision, you made the right one. Besides, Subby is a very busy man person right now! And that makes two of us!
  20. Hubby says he misses all the good social events now that he is retired.
  21. My hubby wants to know the name of the company so he can get an invite to next year's tournament.
  22. Like finding golf balls in your bowl of cereal. I swear that was NOT me who hit that ball through the window.
  23. When I had it in 1968, it took me close to a year to recover. When I had it in 1972, it took a couple of weeks. I ended up in the hospital for a week in 1968 because the doctor was afraid that I had leukemia and not mono.
  24. Why a week for results??? Back years ago when I worked in family practice, we got INSTANT results! Anyway, yes, mono is caused by the EB virus but as long as you do what the doc says about treatment, it turning into Epstein-Barr or CMV is not very common. Yep, you can have it several times. I had it first in 1968 and then again in 1972.
