  1. I noticed the store on Veterans Memorial in Lithia Springs is cheaper on the beer my hubby drinks than the liquor store just up the road about a 1/2 mile. And that includes the 10% AND the sales tax!
  2. What if you see nothing wrong with what a private entity does during what was presumably a closed, by invitation only event? If you didn't want small kids to see this, don't take them! I'd make a guess that small kids on the course were not exactly what the "host" or the sponsoring business wanted present anyway. If the sponsor is paying GOOD MONEY to host the tournament, who are YOU to object to what they do? Sorry but your post just rubs me the wrong way.
  3. My husband traveled for work for over 20 years. I told him if I ever called him and told him not to get on a flight to humor me and not get on that flight. I never told him not to get on one. However, there were two flights that crashed days after he was on them.
  4. Yep, I believe in premonitions. We were at my grandmother's day on Thanksgiving Day 1969. I kept having the feeling that a family member had died and we didn't know it yet. We hadn't been home more than 15 minutes when my grandmother called to tell us that my cousin had died that morning while deer hunting. About 7 years later I met a man who was hurt while deer hunting that same morning, just a mile or two from where my cousin died. In fact, he knew that my cousin had died because he heard the paramedics and the police talking about it while they were with him.
  5. I can even overlook his opera history 'cause he's so darned sexy! I still thought this thread was about my husband.
  6. I liked Clooney until his fundraiser for Obama. Now I can't stand him. Give me Kevin Costner, whose company helped with the oil spill. Or Brad Pitt. Or for that matter, Johnny Depp who is just weird.
  7. IMO, anyone who carries, openly or concealed, is not asking for trouble. They are the answer to trouble.
  8. WOW! You are really frightened by someone with a weapon, aren't you? Sure you're not planning to commit a criminal act? Otherwise, there is no sensible reason to be frightened by someone just because they are carrying, open or concealed.
  9. why on earth would you feel threatened just because you can see someone is carrying a firearm? Are you planning to commit a criminal act? Quite honestly, I would rather see someone carrying a weapon in Florida or Tennessee than I had in Georgia. At least in those states firearms safety courses MUST be taken and passed before getting a permit. This whole thread reminds me that I need to go and FINALLY buy that SR9C that I've had my eye on for a long time. Just don't know if it will fit well in a Vera Bradley handbag. I had lunch with a police officer yesterday. He w
  10. criminals would LOVE to see the "stand your ground" laws done away with. No criminal wants to confront a victim who fights back. Think about it.
  11. Like I said earlier, we went through this but we're in Cobb. The person I spoke with was really nice and polite. I, too, wondered if I had dialed the right number.
  12. I agree with you here Pubmeister. I just figure the 10% upcharge when I look at the price. If I see a price of 90 cents, my mind registers $1. But then again, I mentally add the sales tax, too. The Food Depot on Veteran's Memorial in Lithia Springs is much, much nicer since it was rebuilt after the flood. It was just old before the flood, but rebuilt almost from the ground up. I actually like Food Depot, though it's not my main grocery store (Kroger is). There are things I get at Food Depot I can't get anywhere else. Kroger quit selling the Hunts tomatoes with sweet onion. Foo
  13. Just like most other grocery stores, they can be. I never liked the old Ingles in Dallas. It felt dirty. I like the new one, though. I thought the Food Lion there was pretty nice. I was only in there once, and it was a very quick trip. I'm not sure I was ever actually in the Winn Dixie. My youngest daughter worked there but I don't remember ever being inside the store. I probably was. The one in Powder Springs isn't as big as some of the other stores are.
  14. Publix, unlike CVS, Walgreens and Walmart, doesn't build on every corner. If that one is too far, what about the one in Powder Springs?
  15. There's one just down the road in New Georgia.
  16. Food Depot would do good in that area. Plus, it's on my way home from Rockmart.
  17. I kinda thought the thread title was enough information for "exact" location--61 at Petro station before high school. Anyone who knows the area knows where the Petro station is and anyone who gets Nixle alerts would know the exact location. I rarely rely on any of the news stations to get anything correct about location. Or anything else for that matter, unless it happens in Dekalb County in which case they have a "team" of reporters reporting on it.
  18. the only "minor" health problem is one that someone else has. Here's hoping Spunkywoman gets back on her feet very soon.
  19. But some people do know the exact location. In this case, 61 and Vernoy Aiken Rd.
  20. sounds like you have a leaking water line. I just about had a heart attack when I opened our water bill to discover we owed almost $130 as opposed to the usual $12. I called the water department and they said that the meter reader left a door hanger tag saying that we apparently had a leak somewhere. I told the person I talked with that there was NOTHING left anywhere. Hubby got out and started looking around. Called over a neighbor who just happens to be a plumber. Between the two of them they located the leak--a the front flower bed. They dug up the area with the leak, repaired the
  21. I came through there a little while before the accident. That is a HORRIBLE intersection. Prayers for all involved.
  22. I prefer male doctors. Period. Always have. That said, I will say without reservation that I absolutely LOVE my gyn. A female. She is the first female doctor I have ever seen that I liked. Well, there was one that I knew that I liked but I never saw her as a patient. Dr Lowry is awesome.
  23. I saw one on the list who was convicted of "oral copulation" in California. Don't think that guy would necessarily be a threat to molest children. That was the ONLY think he was registered for.
  24. Put it on here!! Under automotive. I had a Nissan Altima that I had initially put on CL. All I got from that ad was crackpots and scammers. I put it on here and sold it to a very nice Pcommer!
