  1. True. They just get firearms.
  2. My husband and I want to express our heartfelt sympathy to Coy, Val, Donnie and the rest of the family.
  3. My favorite as a tax preparer was when a client would tell ME how to prepare the tax return because their next door neighbor's third cousin's Sunday school teacher had a friend who did it such and such way. No they didn't. They might SAY they did it that way but no legitimate tax preparer will do it that way. And I can't tell you how many times we had to call banks to explain to them that what they told our client about the tax treatment of their IRA (or whatever) was not according to IRS code. On more than one occasion, we have a bank reissue a 1099-whatever to match what should have
  4. Hear, hear!! I am the same way. I LOVE what I do and I love my clients (even those whose politics differ from mine).
  5. Some of them I would let come to my house and be around my grandkids. All sex offenders are not created equal. However, I would not want a SEXUAL PREDATOR anywhere near me or my family. And as far as child molesters go, well, if they are free, they are too close to me and mine. I knew a man who was on the sex offender list. He was on there for statutory rape. The "girl" later became his wife and they had several kids. That man did NOT deserve to be on the sex offender list. The sex was consentual and they DID get married after she reached legal age. Last I heard, they were still
  6. Keep in mind that my daughter was POSITIVE, even told in the ER, that she had miscarried. That little girl is now 2. As long as everything is fine on ultrasound, don't give up hope. Blood levels are generally a range of normal. Just because yours doesn't fall in that normal range, doesn't mean anything.
  7. I had an aunt who lived by herself until she was 103. I want to be JUST like her. Heck, she drove until she was 94 when she was in a car wreck and decided it was time to stop driving. But someone hit HER, not the other way around. BTW, I'm 57 and double dog dare anyone to call me OLD or elderly.
  8. Mei Lan said it best--58 is NOT old. Even with health problems, that is still quite young. Glad to hear she enjoyed the senior center. Gives me hope.
  9. Me either!! And I don't have family who works there.
  10. I never said it was a good thing for all. It's just a financial fact of life. Bigger profit with fewer workers (and therefore lower production cost) IS what most corporations with stockholders will choose to do. The stockholders these days seem to care more about dividends than anything else. Or at least, the corporations would have you THINK that is what the stockholders care about. And please, let's not lump ALL corporations together because there are a few that do care about their employees. The one my hubby worked for was, and to my knowledge still is, quite caring toward their
  11. you, my friend, understand business. That is EXACTLY what's going on. Why hire more people when you're as productive, if not more productive, with fewer people. And what extra you need, you either outsource or use employee leasing companies to provide the labor. The company my hubby used to work for, a HUMONGOUS international corporation, did just that--increased profits by cutting out some departments and outsourcing those jobs. It was very, very, VERY good for us because we made more by doing the work for his former employer than he would have ever made working FOR them. See, Pub
  12. She might not be old enough to qualify to go. In Cobb, most of the senior events require you to be 60. I went to the Cobb Senior Services page to check and you have to be 55 in Cobb (although SOME events require you to be 60).
  13. I don't mean this the way it sounds, because it sounds smart alecky, but with the new smart meters, why does Greystone even NEED a number for customers to call to report outages? Isn't that part of the point of the new meters, to be made aware of where outages occur????
  14. Damn! I hate the idea that I paid for an airport. In a neighboring county! BTW, Douglas County charges over $80 for a carry permit.
  15. near the church on the hill?
  16. where is this? I haven't been to downtown Dallas but twice or three times since November and it just doesn't seem familiar to me.
  17. Ace Hardware in Douglasville makes them. I got one made there for my Altima. I can't remember the price but it was a good deal cheaper than the Nissan dealer wanted. I have read, on here, that the Ace Hardware in New Hope makes them.
  18. With me, there's also a PIA charge. And I am very expensive. Shhhhhhh! Don't tell Pubby that.
  19. Thanks. I remembered reading somewhere that once you get the modem set up you didn't need the computer. I just wanted to make sure before I unhook the computer.
  20. My router/modem is hooked up through my desktop which now officially seems to be among the dead. I need to at least have it looked at. My question is this: if I unplug my router/modem from the computer, will my wireless connection be unplugged as well? Currently, it works with or without the desktop being on.
  21. Oh well. Thought I'd ask. See you on Tuesday!
  22. Do you have any wireless printers in stock?
  23. I say this with the utmost respect. You are one tough bird.
  24. I should be there on Tuesday. I'd LOVE to see you again.
