  1. Same here! And I love that we can now tell where meat is from. I've been given grief on this site about this issue. The FDA can only sample small portions of imports. I'm the same way with treats for my pets - there have been too many issues with foods/treats made in china and dead pets. I do pay extra sometimes to buy U.S. products. For some reason, I trust Canada too......
  2. My link Coca-Cola Co. said Thursday it alerted the Food and Drug Administration after it discovered via testing its own and competitors' products that some Brazilian growers had sprayed their orange trees with a fungicide that is not approved for use in the U.S.
  3. Call the public service commission and see if they can help.....not allowing you to top them makes no sense at all.
  4. Last minute emergency - dishwasher flooded kitchen - plan another one soon PLEASE!!
  5. When I was a teen, people said I looked like Marie Osmond (she's a year or two older), then for a while it was Valerie Bertinelli, since about age 30, I hear Sigourney Weaver - A LOT. Wish I had her bod!
  6. My link KENNESAW – The Georgia Department of Labor’s Cobb-Cherokee Career Center will help Metro America, a private construction company, recruit workers to fill about 60 job openings for framers in the Kennesaw area. Framers construct the skeletons of buildings, assembling the floors, walls and ceilings. The recruitment will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the career center, at 465 Big Shanty Rd. in Kennesaw. Applicants must have a resume and be able to read a tape measure. Also, they must have a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and
  7. Being in canine rescue for many years, this is one of my favorites! And, SPAY = Female Neuter = Male I've had many people tell me their male dog was spayeded. It is bad enough for the poor little guy to be missing important things, but then to be referred to as spayeded - don't you know the dog is really po'd!
  8. Open to those who've never met anyone?
  9. OMG - I do not watch this show, but just saw a clip of this....OMG...that is the saddest/sickest thing. This poor child. What will she become?
  10. My link The Atlanta-based chain said on Monday it will introduce Grilled Chicken Nuggets and Buddy Fruits applesauce for kids meals and eliminate Hi-C from its beverage line. Chick-fil-A's said that when its grilled nuggets, fruit cup and one-percent milk are combined as a meal, the intake is 210 calories and 3 grams of fat. That is a 56 percent reduction in calories and 86 percent cut in fat from previous offerings, the company said.
  11. My link The Range fiasco harkens other, failed renewable energy companies that received major taxpayer funding. California solar panel maker Solyndra got $535 million in federal loan guarantees. Beacon Power of Massachusetts, which makes energy-storage equipment, took in $43 million in federal money. Both filed for bankruptcy last year. Range cost U.S. taxpayers $64 million and Georgia taxpayers another $6.2 million. Tuesday’s sale netted $5.1 million, which will help offset losses suffered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Georgia’s money, which paid for some of the ethanol-makin
  12. First time I've ever agreed with you, ZC. People KNOW what is and isn't healthy to eat. People also know going back for seconds & thirds is overdoing. It's a choice. (I do recognize that there are health problems and weight gain from meds that need to be excluded from this statement.) And, don't tell me children aren't exposed. As gawdawful as school food is - you know the government has regulated "healthy" into the system. The "food charts" & "serving size" signs are all over the cafeteria. I also recognize the growing number of people using the drivable carts in grocery st
  13. cleaning out my mom's closet a couple of years back and had my cousin over....she looked at the jeans and asked if she could try them on because they were size 12 and she wore a 12......she couldn't get a single pair close to buttoning/zipping, but - the ones she had on were a size 12. I do know that I wear a 10 from Kohls/Dress Barn/Penneys, but, if I put any money into my clothes - Coldwater Creek, Loft, etc I wear many 8's.
  14. Wonder if we could get a group rate on face lifts....not a lift, really - just the right under my chin thing and that's all. I wouldn't go back to any age either. I am feeling the pressure & being divided. Parents needing me more and more and my only child is 14 and I know he's here only 3 - 4 more years Can't dwell on it.
  15. I don't care about the mailman - don't like him anyway......there are tons of discounts (I know this because I handle my parents Medicare/AARP, etc.....We could go to the same home & party.......Dang, woman! I don't know if my eyesight is still good enough to tell if the cabana boys are old enough for me to drool over (or on if I end up with dentures) and I'd hate to have that creepy way past cougar looking at werewolf bodies in movies!
  16. My 50th is on the 18th of this month.....my AARP came before Christmas. How did you get to wait a month AFTER for the insult??
  17. My link Salute America 2012, an air show organized by the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport, is set for Oct. 20 and planning is in full tilt. Read more: The Marietta Daily Journal - Air show set for October in Paulding
  18. My link The Paulding County History Museum has been shuttered for two years, but historical society members are working diligently to have the doors open again by spring.
  19. Thank you notes all the way.....even my 14 year old son has thank you notes. He receives money or ornaments at Christmas/birthday from his great aunts - none of which he has seen since he was 2 - and he writes a note for each one. Had a neighbor tell me one day (as she overheard him ask where the stamps were) say - that's such a southern thing - well, honey, you are in the south! Personally, I think it's a manners thing - but, watching people today - manners aren't a priority.
  20. My link The year 2011 was jam-packed for Paulding County, bringing with it tumults in weather, politics and finances but also triumphs in fresh faces and new economic generators. Read more: The Marietta Daily Journal - Cobb’s neighbor Paulding saw struggles strength in 2011

My link The intersection of Hwy. 92 and Old Stilesboro Road at the north end of the county has seen increased traffic volume over the past four years, said Scott Greene, director of the Paulding County transportation department. The county just bid out the project to add left- and right-hand turn lanes to each approach at the intersection — excluding a right-hand lane on one leg of the intersection — which also will include the installation of a traffic signal.
  22. Can't sleep.....reading news stories and ran across this: My link Grossed me out.....we have some weird people in this world. ""There are plenty of men who will buy you four pizzas and enjoy watching you eat all of them," she wrote on her website. "But what it comes down to is that you become a slave to the food and to your feeder."
  23. I had read about this in the ajc.....praying for her!
