  1. My neighbor has been here 12 years and saw her first two copperheads. We both have rat snakes - I've named mine Frieda (Fred was here for a couple of years, but, my other neighbor relocated him) Anyway, neighbor with copperheads decided to clear all undergrowth from the wooded area between us - we'd done so a couple years back. The crew killed 6 copperheads and one "grey snake" - I'm afraid they may have gotten Frieda - I hope not. Anyway, with all the logs/brush gone, maybe we'll be ok. According to people who know me - I have a snake magnet because if there is one to be found, I find i
  2. So, hubs and I are having this discussion about how often, how long should you visit family. Help please.
  3. My link DALLAS — The Paulding County Fire and Rescue bureau may have to close fire stations and reduce staff if the fire and rescue millage rate of 2 mills is not increased, an advisory board official said last week. Paulding voters first approved the tax in 2006, and the bureau started using the revenue in 2008. Because of the extreme decline in property values in the county, income collected from the fire tax has dropped severely. Paulding Commission Chairman David Austin said property values have dropped about 43 percent since 2009.
  4. Opened mine from Cobb - just over the line from Paulding - didn't change a penny from last year.
  5. So, sooner or later, with all the mandated standard of care - I won't have to die? Well, alrighty then. I'm on board.
  6. OK....my 58 year old cousin has a tracheotomy and a feeding tube right now. Stage 4 throat cancer. Never smoked a day in his life. November, sore throat, figured it was strep since the grand babies had been over all week. Didn't go away, doctor said it was probably his tonsils since he still had them. So, he was to follow up and probably have his tonsils removed - no time frame given - so my cousin waited with his sore throat til after the holidays. Guess you would have him sue? I don't know why I wrote this.....we need to agree to disagree and get over it. Zoo, I will do my very be
  7. Happened - although mom didn't die - 34 years ago, gynecologist on Mulkey Road - knocked a hole in her bladder during a hysterectomy. She refused to sue although she had multiple lawyers call her at the time. She's had two follow up surgeries.
  8. Oh, Zoo....I wish I were as smart as you....that way, I could make myself feel stupid every single time I post a topic on prom until I stop - which, I am - and save you unnecessary keystrokes. Yes, take common sense out of the equation - but, you don't believe we are creating the "nanny state" or that we are making people rely on or shift blame to others or the government. The mandated, legal paperwork is doing to our medical profession exactly lwhats being done to our education system. Like the smiley face charts of your pain and according to which one you say, you fall into a certain
  9. At least they found that the guy was 40% responsible for his own death......so, I guess SOME personal responsibility is still in play. Jurors actually awarded Martinez's estate $5 million, but they also found Martinez to be 40 percent liable for his own death, reducing the verdict to $3 million.
  10. OK.....sure.....doctor should tell you everything....you shouldn't ask or have to ask or even consider asking......glad I still know people who, like me, believe in personal responsibility.....
  11. No, it wouldn't have been any different......the threesome is totally irrelevant to me.....just wondering - at what point did we take common sense out of the picture. If my doc tells me what he had been told - and, the guy is experiencing problems - then, I'm not going to go cut the lawn or run my normal jog, etc. until I get an all clear. Obviously, the guy felt pretty good at the time. Doctors aren't God. If the guy had a heart attack in front of the tv, would you still sue? If so, I know many people who are under doctors care who still have had heart attacks, three while watching tv.
  12. The doctor won't be paying this - the insurance company will. We can't be protected from ourselves........ My link the Lawrenceville man died on March 12, 2009, while engaging in a threesome with a friend and a woman who was not his wife. Martinez had high blood pressure and other tests showed he was at high risk of having clogged heart arteries. The attending cardiologist, Dr. Sreenivasulu Gangasani, scheduled a stress test for eight days later, but failed to inform the patient to stop all physical activity until the test was completed, according to a press release issued by t
  13. You do have to make it clear - firmly. If I invite, say to the movies, I do not expect them to pay for anything. I buy a popcorn for them to share and two drinks. To, say, airsoft events, I offer to drive, but, I make it clear that all I'm doing is driving them - they are responsible for their own entrance fee. It really depends on the event - but, usually, I pay the basic and request that they have a few extra dollars for extras. I do send money with my child regardless. I know that some of his friends can't afford to go unless I pay.
  14. I've had one for 35 years now.....others are at least 15 years old. I've chipped the porcelain off of one of my back ones - had it checked and they said the integrity of the crown is still there (nothing getting in) so, since it's in the back, I'm not doing anything. I'd SERIOUSLY have a problem with a crown that didn't even last two years. Also, I chew ice all the time.
  15. Wasn't fishing. Wasn't opening any cans. Simply recognized a family member. Just passing through. Even apologized for the hijack, but, as usual with you and ZC, anything I post is "hooey" and MUST be commented on negatively.
  16. thanks for standing up for me, "gonefromhere". ZC nor The PM ever let me post a single post without bashing it. I must be the most stupid poster on the site. I shouldn't have hijacked, but, it looked so much like Allison. I should have copied and left the scene of the crime.
  17. OMG!! Totally off topic - copied this for my husband. His cousin in Memphis is this cartoon!!! She is 3 months older than my husband (46) - Went to UT fully paid by parents (with a brand new pontiac firebird, no doubt) had a 20K wedding at a country club (paid for by parents/grandmother), divorced 9 months later, can't hold a job for more than a year (according to her parents, no employer has yet to see her worth and everyone in the company is jealous of her), has dated a married man for the past 7 years (he's going to leave his wife as soon as the kids are old enough), still lives in her o
  18. My link Food stamp recipients are ripping off the government for millions of dollars by illegally selling their benefit cards for cash — sometimes even in the open, on eBay or Craigslist — and then asking the government for replacement cards.
  19. Me, too....You have to look at everything. Even so call "organic" can be sourced from china. It takes a little time, but, I feel it is worth it.
  20. My link The three top brands of chicken jerky treats among those most recently cited in complaints included Waggin’ Train and Canyon Creek Ranch brands, produced by Nestle Purina PetCare Co., and Milo’s Kitchen Home-style Dog Treats, produced by the Del Monte Corp. According to the msnbc.com report, Waggin’ Train and Canyon Creek Ranch are both produced and supplied by JOC Great Wall Corp. Ltd. of Nanjing, China. 21. We had the grand opening of the tunnel entry near the Paulding airport - again.
  22. First, I have ALWAYS been extremely tolerant of you and have never called your links to articles "hooey" - I suppose only you have links to proper information. I do read news from other countries. Healthcare is failing in other countries as well. Not all, but many. Our system IS broken. I have been saying that for years! Are you and your non "hooey" articles taking into effect that in our system, the doctors have to pay for their overhead just as any other company? Their buildings/utilities/employees & benefits/machinery - everything? And, that the costs of those items have risen p
  23. It's not my analogy.....what I cut and pasted was from an article. However, having insurance and having everyone have insurance does NOT address the actual cost to provide healthcare to patients. And, mandates to cover this and that and perform tests that may not be necessary drives actual costs even higher. The reason I liked the article is because it was trying to show costs analysis. When a doctor or a hospital need to charge X and see Y number of patients a day to cover their costs and then having a major portion of their patients on medicare/medicaid/other programs that pay pennies on
  24. We MUST address the issue of the actual cost of healthcare! most of us are insulated from the actual cost and pay only a small fraction at "point of sale." And so we don't care what the real cost is. Most believe that skyrocketing medical costs are an argument for more insurance for all. But the preliminary returns on ObamaCare show that this exacerbates the problem. Paradoxically, it's by reducing insurance and shifting premium savings back into consumers' wallets -- where they can spend their own money with discretion -- that the cost of health care will plummet.
