  1. My link he world's largest producer of rolled aluminum is expected to bring 150 jobs to Kennesaw as it opens its new center this summer. While Novelis has advertised for technologists, scientists, engineers and machinists since at least January, the Buckhead-based global business has struggled to find qualified workers, even at six-figure salaries. The company has 14 descriptions for job openings posted on its website today. Click on the below links for more information, or to apply: Engineer Executive Assistant Group Leader-Applied Engineering Human Resources Manag
  2. In my little world (where everyone believes as I do -lol) I am trying. I check the country of origin on all fish/meats and only buy US (freaked a woman in Wally World out when she said why would we get fish from china and I showed her where to look). I check all clothing and buy US when I can, other countries when I cannot and never buy clothing made in china. I check where my dog food is "sourced" as well as toys/treats. I do the best I can to buy US first - which usually means I pay more.
  3. I know we have to have a "global economy", but, will USA own anything in the future? My link
  4. My link A Tennessee man who has fathered 30 children is asking the courts for a break on child support. WREG-TV reports that Desmond Hatchett, 33, of Knoxville has children with 11 different women. The state already takes half his paycheck and divides it up, which doesn't amount to much when Hatchett is making only minimum wage. Some of the moms receive as little as $1.49 a month. The oldest child is 14 years old. Hatchett explains how he reached such a critical mass: He had four kids in the same year. Twice. Back in 2009 when Hatchett was in court to answer charges that ma
  5. Saw a blurb on the news yesterday where asparagus and apple farmers in Washington state were tilling under the asparagus and letting the apples go because they can't find legal workers. All the while, the unemployment rate is over 8%. The farmer interviewed said he paid $10 an hour plus for good harvesters, but that the unemployment checks could be as high as $600 per week for some folks and that it was hard work. Said he'd never gotten a single person from the labor dept posts of him needing labor. When I was laid off, I had no problem waiting tables at a sports bar for $2.47 hour + ti
  6. My link Finally - local people win! Winning numbers from the May 9 drawing were: 1-7-11-55-56 and the Powerball was 1. The Davises bought the winning ticket at Crossroads Grocery on Dallas Acworth Highway in Dallas.
  7. I'm sorry that you're facing this. After several years of "the doctor gave (insert name) those prescriptions so it's not drugs - (insert name) is taking medicine" - an OD, stealing from family/friends, borrowing from anyone, every excuse in the book for not showing up or returning things, arrests for forgery, arrest for burglary, arrest for selling prescription drugs, etc. - FINALLY, I asked to meet with the DA, equipped with documentation to present, and begged that the terms of the bond be a rehab program. In the program now. They all hate me. So, this mothers day, I'll be away from my
  8. I am so very sorry for your loss......no words will suffice. Rest, heal - physically & emotionally. Prayers lifted.
  9. LOVE, love, love Siri!! My husband and son laugh though.....I have two contacts for my husband - so when I ask her to call my husband, she asks "Which husband would you like for me to call" LOL
  10. Buy a box of Borax. Run the machine a couple of times using a cup of Borax powder......
  11. Our church has a garden club where the women are mostly her age. Also an over 35 singles group that goes to games/museums/shopping trips. Also, a seniors group that does lunches/dinners together as well as volunteer in several areas. We also have groups that get together to fold newsletters, knit/crochet things for the NICU unit of Kennestone, put together binders for cancer patients - just a ton of things that she could do. 12. While I believe the 6 year old probably meant that she goes to the tanning salon with mom and probably does not get into the tanning beds, I watched the video. This woman doesn't look natural. In her arrest photo, she looked natural, but, what is going on with this??? My link
  13. The addiction to pain meds is in epidemic proportions.....I've posted about this for going on 2 years. It has ruined not only 4 members of my family, but others as well. Mandates are in place that if you enter a hospital, you are asked about your pain. The meds given now - Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone - are more powerful than illegal drugs of the past and are highly addictive. Pharmacy robberies are on the rise - for meds, not money. So called Pain Management clinics open/shutdown regularly as well as being raided. The babies are the next step in this. Talk to any doctor/healthcare
  14. I was at the Avenues when people came in talking about the accident. Heres what is in the paper for tomorrow: At around 5:25 p.m. Saturday, the driver of a black 1990 Nissan Maxima was attempting to turn left from westbound Dallas Highway into the Village at Old Trace shopping center near Bob Cox Road, police said. At the same time, the driver of an orange 2005 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling eastbound on Dallas Highway. When the driver of the Nissan pulled into the path of the Chevrolet, it was struck in the eastbound lanes of Dallas Highway, police reported. Joab Kunin, 63, of Kenn
  15. "reasonable and customary" charges vary from zip to zip.....don't know how far that will get you, but it's a start.
  16. I don't want the children institutionalized (although, technically, public school is an institution) - I just don't think that we're handling these children properly nor supporting the parents properly. First, the parents DO use excuses - and before I get blasted, I know that ADD, ADHD, etc. are real - BUT - many parents use it as an excuse to NOT continue what they need to do for the kids - so, it falls on the school to protect the - what is the politically correct term - "non-diagnosed"? kids and try to teach them while maintaining the "diagnosed" kids. I can't imagine being a teacher. Yo
  17. But why are we seeing more and more behaviour such as this? I never witnessed anything like this or any other things at school.
  18. My link Clayton chose a $700,000 lump sum, before taxes, last fall after winning the jackpot on "Make Me Rich!" a Michigan lottery game show. She continued to receive $200 a month in food stamps, as well as medical assistance benefits. "I thought that they would cut me off, but since they didn't, I thought maybe it was OK because I'm not working," she said in March.
  19. I've worked in billing....she's not rolling in the money and this is a usual amount and, yes, the healthcare changes will make it worse. I have yet to see a doctor's billing service not work with you if you are prepared with information - i.e., what your insurance would cover, what the fee would be at comparable locations, etc. This is why we must address the actual cost of healthcare and not insurance. Insurance is part of the problem. Also, you can thank the "healthcare reform" for this new "level" of care charge. This also comes into play not only on charges, but also the type of pain
  20. OK....my child attends a private school, so I have never dealt with CRCT's personally. Neighbors daughter becomes "sick" every year and I hear of other children having stressed induced issues. Here is my question that has kinda bugged me all night - ran into two ladies I know casually yesterday at Costco. Their families are taking a trip together right after CRCT's. Said they get better deals on travel, yada yada......BUT, when I asked about the kids making up the work, they said - and I pretty much quote verbatim - We don't make up the work. Basically, we have planned this every year for
  21. It's just stupid talking heads.....I try not to listen often, but, it's hard. Personally, I think it's just sad that women slam women so badly - in all situations. Dems slammed Palin for NOT staying home with her downs syndrome baby and the other 4, now Ann Romney "has never worked a day in her life" because she chose to stay at home. The woman who said it doesn't stay at home with her and her partner's adopted twins, so, to me, it's sorta the old work outside the home vs work inside the home mommy hood that I hear from women of all walks of life.
  22. Several local counties are serviced by Project Backpack & Operation Backpack. My church provides many of these to one school every week. There is a backpack provided on Friday at the schools and the kids pick it up. It's filled with canned/boxed/dry goods for the weekend. The kids return the backpack on Mondays. I know the times georgian ran an article on Carroll County participating. South Cobb is heavily served by this.
  23. Many of the law's major aspects have been the topic of much discussion. But are you aware that deep within the sweeping law's 2,700 pages are many lesser known changes that could affect your life in unexpected ways? Here are 10 examples: My link

  25. After sitting here reading through some of this, I'm reminded of the Christmas party in The Marietta Country Club a couple of years back where underage drinking at a sleepover (after the adult party was over) - politician and a judge lost their careers, kid lost baseball scholarship to Rice, etc., etc. - these kids were on private property not driving not damaging property during a school break. People were calling for these rich people in rich neighborhoods attending "elite" schools and these rich elite spoiled (ever adjective you can think of) kids/parents heads/jobs, bashing the school, et
