Let's put some playground equipment back on the playgrounds and have free play instead of structuring their lives - allowing them to be children, be creative/imaginative in play, learn problem resolution, fall and get hurt and learn that it's ok to fall & get back up and try again. The obesity problem is as much from sedentary lives because we are bubble wrapping children as it is from what we're feeding them......

My link This may be from this: Georgia is second in the nation in childhood obesity; one in three children ages 10-17 is considered overweight or obese in the state, according to its Department of Education. According to Georgia State Rep. Brooks Coleman, the new law is one answer to that problem. Concerned about a trend toward less physical education and recess in state schools, he helped to sponsor HB 229, also known as SHAPE, the Student Health and Physical Education Act, which was passed by the Georgia Legislature and signed by the governor in 2009. Schools begin weighing and mea

My link Grand Junction - A Grand Junction High School student wants a song picked for the after-school men's choir group pulled, because he says the Islamic piece is not appropriate for a public school choir. The song is called "Zikr," and its composer says is not intended for a worship ceremony. For senior James Harper, a Christian who is active in his local church, the wording and meaning of the song is such that he feels it should not be performed by students in a public school setting. “I don’t want to come across as a bigot or a racist, but I really don’t feel it is appropriat

My link A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because a state employee told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious. The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day.

Know a woman AND her husband who have a 24 year old college graduate (2 year degree) who is constantly picking up applications, bringing them home, filling them out & returning them for their "child" because he's "too busy" to do it. They have scheduled his interviews when he's been called and they've hit up every friend/contact they have. He's busy, all right. Busy hanging at the local coffee shop surfing the web "looking for work", playing video games, etc. He's had a couple of jobs, but "they don't appreciate his abilities" so he's left. I figure this kid will be living with them w

I quit supporting/encouraging the few people I know who does these when they began to spray tan, buy "flippers" (false teeth), contacts to "enhance eye color", hair inserts for their 1st graders. They said "all the girls do it". One was so worried about her child losing her front teeth - like all children do - that when the child lost them, she cried that she wasn't pretty anymore. This particular child now lives in California and has had a few spots in commercials & a soap or two. So, they think they're succeeding and giving her so much opportunity. The child cries - yes, cries - bec

There is a store something "Frog" that does tshirts - no minium order - in the shopping center across from the Avenues of West Cobb next to Yogli Mogli. Are you looking for team members? I've walked the 30 mile 2 day 4 years and trained for the 3 day, but wasn't able to do it due to tearing up my knee in tennis. I want to do it this year, but, do not know of a group and haven't gone on the site to see if any of the groups are looking for members. -
Yes, sorry, didn't see it. Internet Cafe is bookmarked so I'm immediately "here". Mods should delete. I'll email.

We have pass codes that allow us to use several text books online; however it's a private school. We purchased a second set of text books that were not accessible online to remain at home. We sell the books back at the end of the school year. I've read/researched schools across the nation that are trying laptops/kindles/ipads & the like. Problems experienced - of course, breakage/loss, but, students selling them, parents using them for other things, downloading porn, downloading virus, and of course the school that had the ability to turn on the camera if they thought the laptop was st

Excellent post.....I believe one of the reasons the larger/established, successful private schools work so well is because they do not have CRCT's and all the other testing that makes students/parents crazy....they're not competing for money from the government, but, they must succeed or parents take their money elsewhere.
