Major Drug Company Will Be Paying $3 Billion Fine
onekidmom replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
And, what becomes of the monies collected from this fine? Whose coffers will it be deposited? -
I'm not a liberal by any means but, according to several sources, this is not true. AARP My link Fact Check My link Snopes My link And the list goes on.

I worked with billing in a doctors office....I have been preaching this to everyone, but, no one believes me. The thing is, people usually don't pay their part, either. The doctor gets "stiffed" for what insurance doesn't pay as well as what you've stated. What I want to see is to address the actual cost to provide healthcare.

My parents doc is 52. He retired 12/31 of last year. He'd quit taking new Medicare patients and had stopped Medicaid. Said that since most of his patients were Medicare, he couldn't afford to be in practice just he and a partner. Now, he's a "consultant" to a law firm in Marietta. He wasn't looking forward to today, but, he quit long before. I was actually at the dentist when the ruling came down. They forgot about me and tuned into HLN. My dentist and his staff were very upset. He said that on top of this affecting the "medical side" of his practice, he's dealing with new regulati

and, THAT is the reason many choose private. Along with not dealing with redistricting issues, busing issues, overcrowding, calendar/class size changes yearly, crowd control, etc. I don't send my child to a private school for religious education. The majority of my "private school" friends are there for the same reasons I am.
-
You realize that large/mainstream private schools are SACS accredited and most are secular, right? I looked up the list of private schools using the ACE curriculum in Georgia and find them to be rural, extremely small schools mainly affiliated with their church. My link And, DGITW is correct - many private schools absolutely refuse to take money from the government. Tuition assistance is money set aside from the budget or from private donations other than the programs where a person fills out the forms to earmark a portion of their taxes to go into the fund for those leaving public
-
But, but, DGITW - dontcha know - there is only one way to teach our children correctly - en masse by our government. More and more, local control of our public schools is being removed so that our federal government can handle what, obviously, the people who live in the community cannot - or, it appears in previous posts as if the government must do it because the evil ones of us who send our children to private schools only do so to step on the poor children.

My link The oldest continuing school voucher programs existing today in the United States are the Town Tuitioning programs in Vermont and Maine, beginning in 1869[2] and 1873[3] respectively. Because some towns in these states operate neither local high schools nor elementary schools, students in these towns "are eligible for a voucher to attend [either] public schools in other towns or non-religious private schools. In these cases, the 'sending' towns pay tuition directly to the 'receiving' schools."[2][3] A system of educational vouchers was introduced in the Netherlands in 1917. Tod

This is changing - fast. Private scholarships, programs such as Georgia GOAL and the plain want of a better opportunity is changing the face of Georgia private schools. You would be amazed at the diversity in private schools these days - economically and racial diversity. The larger private schools have implemented programs to ensure racial sensitivity as well as diversity.

From the article: "I don't believe they should be publicly funded, I don't believe the schools who use these texts should be publicly funded." So, it's ok to take tax dollars and teach what the government says should be taught but not what the parents want their children to be taught? When these kids get to college here in the states (the article is from another country but mentions USA districts) they will be exposed to more liberalism/left leaning beliefs. They'll make their mind up as adults. Since there are requirements for college, if these kids can't meet the requiremen

My link A California couple is accused of planting illegal drugs on an elementary school volunteer because they weren’t happy with how the woman was supervising their son. Jill and Kent Easter, both attorneys, were arrested Tuesday after they allegedly hatched a plan to frame the woman at Plaza Vista School in Irvine, Calif., KABC-TV reports. Police say Kent, 38, put a bag of prescription painkillers, marijuana and a marijuana pipe in the volunteer’s car, then called police to say he had seen her hide the drugs in her car.

I can tell you - 100% - once a group of kids get what I call "pack mentality" - if she had said a word back, it would have gotten worse AND the kids would have told the parents that she harassed them and the parents would have believed it. The kids more than likely had already been talking about her in demeaning ways to their parents. I know I hear it from kids - the way they talk about their teachers/bus drivers - my own friends will repeat as if it's gospel because well all the kids feel this way about such and such.

This may be one reason: (from CNN) No charges have been filed against the boys in part because, "at this point, (Klein) has decided that she does not want to press criminal charges," Greece Police Capt. Steve Chatterton said Thursday. He stressed that the investigation is continuing and that the bus monitor could change her mind. He explained that a juvenile must face a felony or misdemeanor to be charged in family court, while harassment only qualifies as a violation.

You are right; however, more times than not, the parents could do a heck of a lot better. One child's parent came in and I was called in (along with others) as to what we had witnessed. This child had cried to her parents about being picked on and bullied, etc. The parents were furious and believed every single word she was saying. This kid was a pain.....sweet girl - just wanting attention from anyone/everyone. She annoyed the heck out of others. She bragged constantly, tried to make herself sound better than anyone, would ask what others made on their papers and then say her grade was

I worked in the Cobb system this past school year - not gonna do it again. The number one child I had a problem with - when I had had it up to my eyeballs and went to the principal - the teachers had nothing but praise to say about her. Straight A student, considered a good role model/leader. When they took her in, she admitted how badly she had treated me, told the truth about things she had said. Broke into tears even. When asked why, she said she thought I wasn't a teacher, so, she could "vent on me" - yes, that is what she told the principal. Said she held it til she got to me becaus

My link Just sad.....Kids have no respect these days. I'm wondering how many parents will step up and have their kids apologize vs how many will make excuses or it wasn't my child.

I love it....I was at Town Center last night. Was mad at myself, actually, because I found the same Lee skimmers that I'd paid $32 (with my discount coupon) at Kohls for $22. Found the shorts in another color (which K didn't carry) and they were $15 cheaper. Have bought 3 bathing suits at Penney's this year - all at around $18. The stores are clean and not junked up like Kohls is becoming. I also shop Dress Barn and have found several of the exact same tops at $5 to $20 cheaper - the only difference has been the tag name. I'm shopping Pennys more than ever now. Oh, their bras and things
-
Twice in the past month, I've tried to return something to Kohl's only to find I wasn't charged for it! They said it happens. My hubby HATES to shop but is in desperate need of new clothes. I made a large purchase knowing that some of it would go back. When I went to return it, she said it wasn't on the receipt. I explained that I'd bought it all at the same time - this was a Fila shorts & matching shirt for tennis - and she said she believed me because there were others on the receipt, but not the shirt I was trying to return. She said she couldn't take it back even though I said ju

I LOVE NAS Pensacola.....I have family stationed on Hurlbert in Mary Esther as well as family living in Milton. I personally like Milton, but, that's a drive.

My good friends parents (elderly, somewhat homebound) have had their hanging baskets stolen off of their front porch. Her mother cried because they were part of her mothers day presents from her family. My friend replaced them - this time, they were taken in broad daylight within 2 hours of her hanging them up. Totally unbelievable!

There is a cause for hydronophrosis and, if left untreated, the kidney will atrophy. I had stones on a pretty constant basis til I met Dr. Emerson and had that diagnosis from another urologist. Once I changed my diet (no nuts, cut WAY down on salt intake, watch the dark greens), drink a large amount of water (not too much or I've caused other issues), stopped the sodas, cut out citrus drinks, I'm doing tons better....have you discussed any options?
