  1. Not only am I loving the warmer temps, but I'm loving the $55 gas bills too!
  2. While I agree with PSD about not eating fast food while traveling, I have an answer to your dilemna. If you want a "taste of home", go to Starbuck's. I've been to Starbuck's on four different continents. They do an incredible job of making it taste exactly the way it does in the US.
  3. Their menu is always a little different depending on location. I cracked up the first time I saw a "Lobster Roll' at McD's in Maine. And breakfast at a McD's in the middle east is just not the same.
  4. The title of this topic is misleading because it does not specify "embryonic stem cells". Adult stem cells have been used for years. I correspond regularly with a few people who have undergone stem cell transplants to cure them of an auto-immune disease. There are many, many programs out there using adult stem cells and they have had great success so far. Here's an interesting video from about a 16 year old girl in Atlanta who went through a SCT. http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news/ga.-girl-battles-painful-crohn's-disease-032410 I wonder how she is doing now.
  5. I always assumed photos like that were Photoshopped until my stepson spent a few months in Iceland, Finland, and Norway last year. His pictures were amazing. I'd love to see it in person if it wasn't so dang cold.
  6. Yup, they sure do. I hope the OP gets the assistance they need.
  7. That's definitely something I would go to the ER for. Kidney stones can have some serious complications.
  8. I stopped by Flour Child after reading a topic posted by them last week. The cupcake part was good but the icing was FABULOUS! I only eat cupcakes for the icing anyway If I lived closer, I'd stop in more often.
  9. Seems to me that this guy had bigger issues than putting his dog down. Sad.
  10. It's "Physician's Immediate Med". They open at 9am.
  11. There's one on the corner of Mars Hill and 41 that I have used. I do not like urgent care places and this one was no exception. But I received the care I needed which was good enough for me at the time. Nevermind, I just checked their site and they close at 9pm.
  12. I quit giving to a certain charity because they inundated me with more labels, calendars, notepads, etc. It's almost as if the money I donated went directly to producing more of these annoying trinkets. I think charities would be much better served by stopping the petty giveaways. All that money could go to a much better use.
  13. I like the idea. And I'm excited about them carrying Nanette Lepore. I get so sick of Kohl's with their constant "sales". Their regular prices are ridiculous! They have these sales to make you feel like you are getting some great deal. It's just a head game. I might actually go to JCP to check it out. I haven't been to one in a long time.
  14. Allen and Bright on Dallas Hwy. I found them years ago when looking for a Dave Ramsey ELP accountant. I'll never go anywhere else, they are great. But we don't have an average, run of the mill tax return either.
  15. I was stuck driving behind a guy on a motorcycle with his entire arse so exposed that I saw things that are rarely seen during a colonoscopy I think I even saw something wink at me. :::shudder:::
  16. I agree with Blue, it's more about the person than the gender. Some people like the attention ailments garner them. Others don't like the pity party. I don't think it's a man or woman thing.
  17. We must outlaw muffin tops while we are at it. I'm sick of seeing women and teens stuff themselves into pants 3 sizes too small. Or at least give everyone a full length, 360 degree mirror so they HAVE to look at themselves too.
  18. I've never had a shoe make me hungry before.
  19. Congrats!!! On a sidenote, I had the pleasure of seeing a CC fireman pee in my neighbors yard the other morning. Sometimes it pays off to be a nosy neighbor Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now!
  20. I don't think anyone should RELY on tornado sirens. There are too many variables going on with people that pretty much make them ineffective. The hearing impaired, moms with screaming kids, music too loud, not close enough to the siren, well insulated house, yada yada yada would not hear them anyway. You'd have to have a siren every square mile and then how annoying would that be? Ugh. In this age of technology, there are so many more reliable ways to get alerts via landline, cell phone, text, email, tv and weather radio. I think that is where the money needs to go instead of the big ol'
  21. You can get a DNA test. My neice sent in DNA evidence, along with other documents, to become part of the Huron Tribe so she can get a scholarship for college. My husband is Huron.
  22. I see this slightly different than reparations for slavery. People chose to own or not own slaves. This forced act of sterilization was carried out by the State. Just as the Indians were forced to move, etc by the Federal government. So if there was compensation to be given, it only makes sense it would come from the state government. If reparations for slavery were to be made, it should come from those who actually owned slaves. With that said, I still am not sure how I feel about compensating the victims. But I do know that it is a disgusting act that was performed on more than 60,000
  23. I was horrified to find out that the practice of Eugenics was going on until the 1980's! I can't imagine treating a human being the way this woman was treated (or any of the others for that matter). She went in as a rape victim and came out a victim twice over. Eugenics is the same justification Nazi Germany used for exterminating millions of Jews.
  24. That was exactly what we did with my stepson. He about had a coronary when we gave him the check. He wasn't happy when we told him if he didn't go to college that he's have to pay rent. But he sure as heck was ecstatic at getting back the unexpected $$$
