  1. I too think they could have gone about it a little differently. But the ads have people talking about childhood obesity a lot more (as evidenced by PCom) so it's not all bad. I do think it would be hard to talk about this subject without hurting someone's feelings. Gotta try something though.
  2. I don't think that Georgia ranks second in childhood obesity in the US because of Prednisone. It's diet. It needs to be talked about and people need to stop making excuses for it. There is no excuse for ranking SECOND in the US for having the fattest children. I know what Prednisone does to a person. I've been on it for six months at a time, at high doses (60-80mg). Yes, you get "moonface" and gain some weight. But the weight gain is controllable by eating a low sodium diet, and watching calorie intake. It's a horrible drug to be on, but sometimes it works miracles. I've never hear
  3. Would you just f off already?!! Stop trying to speak for me or my husband. Where did I say he was "supportive of the persecution of these Marines"? The fact that you resurrected this post five days after the last reply just to talk about my husband is rather creepy. Stalker.
  4. Haha! I never thought of that until now. I was talking on the phone with my husband when the storm was going on, and I uttered the words, "I love how the trees look in a storm". Not two seconds later, I heard the neighbors tree crack. Why do I say such stupid things? LOL And meanwhile, he's in a severe dust storm worrying about his 1000 lb satellite dish falling through the tent. What a day and it's only 11:40
  5. We had something come through West Cobb ten minutes ago that knocked down a neighbors 60-70 foot tree across their driveway. That freaks me out since I have at least 50 tall, tall pine trees behind my house. I hate 'em (but I love 'em too)
  6. This reminds me...why do so many abandoned cars on the interstate have plastic bags sticking out of the window? Is that some way of saying they'll be back, they aren't dead, or maybe just have something in their eye?
  7. There's quite a visual difference in having your ears pierced and a tattoo on your bicep. Plus, you don't have to wear earrings. But that tattoo is always going to be there.
  8. I had to Google because that was driving me nuts. Apparently there is a procedure called, "Corneal tattooing". EEK!
  9. I just saw it as well on Fox 5. Well, at least the taxpayer doesn't have to pay to keep him alive for the rest of his life.
  10. There is an official "Steak and BJ Day" on March 14th
  11. Yes! And because they usually fly out of the "T" terminal, getting through security and to the gate is much easier at Hartsfield. It's also easier picking up luggage at baggage claim. You don't have to take the "train" and you use the much smaller security line.
  12. I do not like them at all and I travel quite a bit. I can't stand the cattle call feeling and the lack of seat choices. I don't think I'd want to endure that if I was timid about flying. Maybe once you get the hang of it and feel more comfortable, but I wouldn't want to fly SW in your situation. A direct flight might cost a little more in $$$ but save you some sanity in the long run Try not to worry, you'll be fine traveling!
  13. At first, I thought the law was rather intrusive and overstepped parent's boundaries. I still think a citation would have been more appropriate. And then I thought about how stupid some people can be. I know this is extreme but what if a parent decides they want to tattoo a swastika on their kids forehead? What if the parents decide its ok for a small child to have a "White Power" tattoo, or a naked lady on their little forearm? These children aren't old enough to make an informed decision about something that will be permanent. I know it's extreme but DEAR LAWD, there are some extreme i
  14. Sure makes all that hard work pay off, huh? Congratulations!!!
  15. have you ever checked out shopgoodwill.com? It's basically like EBay but it's the "better" items from all over the US that have been donated to Goodwill. I just won 5 vintage hats for $5 this week. They get a lot of vintage stuff, name brand clothing, and just overall interesting items.
  16. We don't participate in the holiday since we both think it's silly. He's awesome at buying me things everytime of the year, even when he's 7k miles away. He just bought me a stone and pewter tea service at a Haji bazaar in Afghanistan. I love that man!
  17. It looks like a prison tattoo. I'm thinking the kid doesn't even fully understand it. He probably wants to emulate his Mom who also has an RIP tattoo for her late son. Poor kid.
  18. There are a lot of FDA approved drugs that are KNOWN to cause cancer. So I would assume that if they slap a label on it saying it might cause cancer, than their bases are covered. Any patient should discuss all of this with their doctor before taking a medication. But you would THINK that they'd try a safer alternative first.
  19. Well is this yet another bad mother? "A Georgia mother who was arrested for allowing her 10-year-old to get a tattoo said she had no idea it was illegal for him to get one, even with her consent. When Chuntera Napier’s son Gaquan Napier asked her if he could get a memorial tattoo for his 12-year-old brother Malik who died after being hit by a car, Napier was touched by the request. “My son came to me and said, ‘Mom, I want to get a tattoo with Malik on it, rest in peace,’” she told ABC News’ Atlanta affiliate WSBTV. “It made me feel good to know that he wanted his brother on him.
  20. From Jesse Ferguson..."A rep for ABC has no comment on the matter, but Ferguson tells us: "I can assure you she did not actually say the F-word on the show. We said the very innocent word fudge, but people are all up in arms about that. This is not child abuse! "We're not making her cuss. What she does on her own time, we don't know but...," he adds with a chuckle." http://www.eonline.com/news/watch_with_kristin/modern_family_f-bomb_controversy_this/287506
  21. It was one of the few episodes that literally had me laughing outloud. I had to wipe tears away at the end from laughing so hard. Do people think the actress actually dropped the "f bomb"? I'm sure they had her say something like "fruit" or "fudge" and then bleeped it. That's the only thing I could see people getting their skivvies in a square over.
  22. JJ Grey and Mofro do a great song called , "Orange Blossoms" as well. I swear, I'm not trying to be dramatic at all. But I'm sorry, there's no way I would ever entertain the thought of eating something named that. I do find it inappropriate to name a cupcake after it considering the hundreds of thousands of veterans and others who were injured, maimed, or killed by Agent Orange. I doubt that most people think of Depeche Mode instead of the herbicide. How about Zyklon B cheesecake? Or DDT donuts? (There are songs and groups for both) Yummmm.
  23. The description of the orange cupcake sounds delicious, it really, really does. But I'm curious why you opted to name it after a cancer causing defoliant?
