  1. Thank you, that was an awesome idea! I forgot all about my last house having that capability. Unfortunately, no such luck here. In fact, it's so annoying because each pane (pain in my case) is etched in the corner with teeny writing giving the info about the glass. I really don't need to know it's "tempered glass" on 10 panes per door! I'd love to know how to get that off too but I know that's asking too much since it's etched into the glass (like on a car window)
  2. I've started my Spring cleaning and I have a question for everyone else that is in cleaning mode. Is there any easier way to clean the glass on French doors?!? I have SIX French doors, four of which are off my living room leading to my sunroom. That means, they show EVERY.SPECK.OF.DIRT when the sun shines in. It drives me batty but I can never seem to get the corners of each pane spotless. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me there is an easy solution to this. For the record, I despise French doors. If my husband weren't French, I might just hate everything French because of these damn doors.
  3. USAA! If you (or spouse) ever served honorably in the US military, you qualify to become a member.
  4. Dangit, I NEED to remember this! I have a VERY VERY IMPORTANT airport pickup at 5AM Sunday. Hope I don't eff this one up since I use my phone as an alarm clock. I might need to go buy one so I don't end up like the Seinfeld episode.
  5. I don't normally agree with most things Ted does. But at least he didn't get married and decide to keep three girlfriends on the side. If they all know, then more power to 'em.
  6. We did Kaua'i in December 2010. We rented a gorgeous condo w/full kitchen on the North Shore and it was wayyyy cheaper than a hotel. It was fairly inexpensive for the two of us but I can't imagine the cost to stay in a hotel with kids and eating out every night. It was mainly the price of food that shocked me! No wonder they eat so much Spam in Hawaii. It was absolutely beautiful though, anf so laid back. No high rise condos or mega resorts. I'd love to go back. What about the U.S. Virgin Islands? Edited to add: My spring vacation is to the Galapagos Islands and mainland Ecuad
  7. So now it's ok to make fun of women? I guess as long as you don't call her a "slut" then it's all good. Personally, I think she is a very pretty woman. She just needs to loosen up on the Pagent queen look. If Newt were to get the nomination, she'd probably get a makeover like they all do anyway.
  8. I am taking my 11 year old nephew to be admitted for his 5 day long Chemo treatment next week. I remarked to a friend that it is "the most grown up thing I have ever been asked to do". I think at 35 years old, I'm a big girl now. Being an adult isn't always as fun as I thought when I was a kid.
  9. HAHA! Too bad that wouldn't apply in my house. My husband can iron better than anyone I know. I have the Marine Corps to thank for that
  10. I looked into it after losing more than half of my hair from a medication I was taking. After reading the reviews for it, I decided not to try it. Most of the reviews I read last year were unfavorable and it didn't seem worth the money. Instead, I took 5000mcg of Biotin everyday after my doctor and hair stylist both recommended it. It seems to have worked well for me. Now I'm just dealing with the annoying sprouts on my head as they are growing out. You can also buy shampoo with Biotin in it at Ulta.
  11. Even when my husband was in the Marine Corps (retired in 2008), there wasn't supposed to be excessive PDA when they were in uniform. But Homecomings were ALWAYS an exception to that rule.
  12. I have been working with Emstar Contracting for a few weeks now after roof damage caused about $6k worth of damage to woodwork and windows in my home. They specialize in home restoaration and repairs of damage from natural disaster. They have been so easy to work with! So far, I'd highly recommend them
  13. My frugality drives my husband nuts sometimes too, but he knows it's well worth it. I'd rather skimp on certain things so I can splurge on others. The one thing he can't seem to get on board is how I package the garbage. If I throw out an ice cream container for example, I try to fill up the empty container with other garbage. I do this with everything and it has almost become a game with me. It saves money on excessive garbage bags, but I do it because I DESPISE taking the kitchen garbage out to the garage. I also make my own vegetable stock/broth and freeze it in two cup increm
  14. Instead of ziploc baggies for things like half an onion, half a head of garlic, etc. I save and wash out glass jars. The jars come in handy for all kinds of things around the house. Instead of paper towels, I use what I call "pig rags" in honor of my late Bulldog. They are plain, white washcloths that I use for wiping up spills, cleaning the counters, wiping baseboards, you name it. Then I just bleach the heck out of them. Every once in awhile, you can find a bundle of them on clearance at Target. I recently did a purge of everything in my house by not grocery shopping until I ha
  15. HAHA! That pic just made literally laugh out loud!
  16. They were falling asleep yesterday while watching a five hour video of his interrogation. I might get a bit sleepy watching that too.
  17. are you talking about the avatar pic or the picture when you click on someone's profile?
  18. Thank you!!! I'd hate to have the whole season minus one. Maybe I could convince him that House had a Nascar episode instead LOL
  19. EVERYTIME I drive to Tallahassee, I stop at Hardee's in Colquitt, GA. They have some great coffee and INCREDIBLE chicken tenders. But the best thing at the Colquitt Hardee's is the people watching, and my 94 year old friend who drives his golfcart there every morning. And not to hate but that girl in the commercial is going to need a boob lift before she's old enough to drink.
  20. Isn't that the 19 year old that was on the cover of the SI Swimsuit edition?
  21. I've been DVR'ing the whole season for DH while he's in Afghanistan. I don't want to miss tonight's episode but I can't figure out when they are going to re-air it so I can set the DVR. Anyone have any idea?
  22. I will NEVER own anything other than my Tempurpedic!!! I am VERY hot-blooded by nature and I don't find it to be any hotter, even with both cats on me or in the summer. I travel quite a bit and can't wait to get back home to my comfy mattress. I also love that the mattress doesn't move everytime my husband, my cats or I move. When my Bulldog was still alive, I couldn't even feel him on the bed (which was a HUGE pain in my butt pre-Tempurpedic) A good friend of mine bought one soon after I got mine and she loves it just as much. I tried the Sleepnumber and hated it. I couldn't find the
  23. I don't remember how much it was because I had a lot of other work done at the same time. It was the first time I had used them and went with them because their total price was good and they were very professional. I got sick of companies not returning calls and not showing up when they said they would. They did all the mulch by hand but there were 6 guys so it was done quickly and they left not one shred of mulch out of place. Since then, I use them for all of my lawn maintenance and mowing and two houses and couldn't be happier. And yeah, NO WAY IN HECK would I do all that mulc
