  1. Sorry ZC, but you showed your ass on that one. And I always tend to root for the underdog.
  2. Uhhhhh, one look at what Bob Hope did for the U.S. troops kind of answers that question. http://www.bobhopeuso.org/ Having spent time in USO's overseas and in the US, seeing what incredible morale they give to the troops all over the WORLD, and all of it's charities is enough to make me say "HELL YEAH!" He deserved it!
  3. She did nothing to deserve that honor. It makes me ill that it's even a question. It won't effect me one way or another if they lower the flags for her. But it will effect the families of those who lost loved one's fighting honorably for this country.
  4. I was surprised how quickly it arrived in the mail. Now my only problem is trying to pick out which ones I want. There are too many beautiful varieties!
  5. Wow, that's pretty cool! I'm looking for a rocking chair "kit" to send my husband in Afghanistan. They just finished up building a porch on their tent and I think it'd be hilarious to send them some rocking chairs. I need to get Googling!
  6. I only like a few bites anyway. I do buy the single serving frozen yogurt at the grocery store. I was happy to see how many varieties they offer now. I also love that Publix sells single pieces of cake for when I'm having a craving
  7. I remember doing the hearing tests and swishing fluoride once a month. Oh yeah, and Scoliosis tests too. Hated those. Do they do any of that stuff in school anymore?
  8. I have no idea. But thank you for the reminder that I need to update our will.
  9. I think that might be about the only help that might work for her at this point. I certainly wouldn't give her a dime either. But she obviously has problems that none of us can help fix (unless there's an addiction specialist in our midst).
  10. and of course the family never mentioned this little tidbit.
  11. This topic saddens me. Obviously she has issues that need to be addressed on a professional level. It makes sad to think of my mother or grandmother out doing this. I don't know how to go about helping her. But I sure hope someone in her family does something to assist her before some cruel person does something to hurt her.
  12. THey no longer offer the pick up at Hope Church but they did move to another location in the area. All the new sites are listed in the link in my post. I LOVE my Farmer's market basket!
  13. I shop at Harry's, but for local, I have found that Ingle's has the best selection for low sodium and organic. Kroger's organic section is too confusing because they put some organic items in designated area, and then some throughout the rest of the store. I found organic milk in the "healthy" section but had to go to the regular dairy section for organic half and half. It makes no sense as far as placement. Ingle's prices, labeling and ease of locating items, and selection is by far the best for local. WalMart is the worst. Publix has gotten better over the years but Ingle's still c
  14. All deductions need to go away, for the rich, the poor, and everyone in between. If everyone paid the same percentage, it wouldn't be such an issue. Our whole system is ridiculous.
  15. I actually have an incredible accountant. My post was an example to point out the hypocrisy of people when it comes to paying taxes.
  16. Yep. But yet people still want you to pay more in taxes so they can pay less (or get it all back).
  17. I didn't read it as they were burying him *in* the sugarcane fields. Instead, I took it as they were burying him in town of Chichigalpa which also happens to be a sugarcane growing area. That's just how I read that. Do you have a link to the article? I'm interested to read the rest of it.
  18. I like that. I find it interesting that people villify the big bad rich for taking all the tax breaks. Yet, they also take every deduction for dependants, mortgage interest, college expenses, etc etc etc. The middle class are no different than the wealthy in this case. And I have no idea what % I am in. I simply used the above for an example.
  19. What are the oniony, chive looking thingies growing right now? I have some growing up in a bed right now and remember seeing them all over a field last spring. They look like they could either be onion of some sort or even chive. Anyone know? And can I eat it without a trip to the ER?
  20. I'd like to write off as much as legally possible. I'm well within the top 5%. Can someone recommend me a good tax accountant who will help me find every deduction legally allowable?
  21. Oh, that's not good. Have you seen anything else since? I still own a house over there, hope everything is ok in the old 'hood. Do you live near the first house on the corner where the elderly gentleman and his wife live? My husband used to replace his flag for him when it would get worn. I often wonder how he is doing.
  22. Probably a car wreck. Seems like it was a weekly occurence when I used to live off Graham Rd.
  23. I find "my pleasure" to be more annoying anyway. It sounds snarky and rude to me.
  24. Nope, doesn't bother me at all since they are still acknowledging me. There are a lot worse things in this world.
