  1. I think charities are exempt from the DNC lists, aren't they?
  2. We rented in Boston two weeks ago. We got a rate of around $160 for five days using the USAA discount code through Budget Rental.
  3. Red Sox games are great, but be prepared to pay an arm and two legs for the tickets. We took my MIL two years ago. We had a great time but DANG it was not easy finding tickets. And if you do go, pay CLOSE attention to "no parking" signs. We had our car towed near Fenway (on another trip into Boston) and had to walk miles of Mass Ave to get to the tow yard. I'll tell you to stay away from Plymouth Rock. It's quite a letdown. Salem was interesting. One of my favorite spots was Concord, MA where the "shot heard 'round the world" was fired. It was so peaceful there and the history in
  4. We just had Zerorez do our entire house. They are better than any other carpet cleaner we have ever used (Stanley Steemer, Procarpet). My carpet looks brand new and I'm much happier knowing it's not a shampoo that will just gum up again. I will most definitely use them again!
  5. Could be a groundhog, they LOVE to eat flowers.
  6. I was told that if it's a black snake, it's not venomous. As for the rest, I have no clue. I have a 5-6ft King snake that I like to have around. Not only do they eat mice, etc but they also prey on bad snakes.
  7. No chit. I think I'd be careful about posting doctored federal documents on a public forum. But to each their own
  8. From MDJ http://www.mdjonline.com/view/full_story/18857121/article-Police-say-Dallas-man-stole--131-000-from-his-grandmother MARIETTA — A Dallas man is accused of stealing $131,000 from his mother-in-law, who has Alzheimer’s. According to a warrant for his arrest, Barry Wallace, 51, was listed as an authorized user on the Marietta woman’s checking account so he could pay her bills. However, he used that authorization to steal $131,000 from the account, police said. Marietta Police spokesman David Baldwin said the amount was taken out in small sums over the course of a year.
  9. Yikes, that's the cost of a H.S. graduation cap and gown at a local high school. I'm glad that the OP's husband wants to better himself and getting an official GED is the way to do it. When he attains his GED, the state will also give you $500 certificate to use at a Technical college if he wants to continue on. Best of luck to him!
  10. My goodness, you hear a lot, Carol. You should change your screen name to the "Pulse of Paulding"
  11. The next quarter starts in August and it will be held in the old courthouse in downtown Dallas. The previous quarters until last week or so were held at the Family Alliance Center in Hiram.
  12. Gotta love PCom and the gossip tree of misinformation. To the OP: Please, get in contact with the Paulding Adult Ed department. They'll give you FACT.
  13. But you stated, "I know of at least one local school that DOES in fact accept the James Madison Diploma" . So I figured you knew FOR A FACT. Pardon me for thinking you were indeed stating a fact to the OP who was looking for a definitive answer.
  14. Which school accepts it? I'm sure the OP would like to know, as would I. More importantly, what EMPLOYER accepts it? And why pay $1000 for a questionable diploma if you can take the official GED for $100? Ripoffreport.com has quite a few entries for James Madison. Companies like that prey on people who want to find an easy way to get a "degree". http://adulted.about.com/od/gettingyourged/qt/gedtestonline.htm
  15. No, there is no such thing. Contact Paulding Adult Education http://www.cobbk12.org/Adulted/ , depending on the student's prior education level, they can help the student get hooked up with classes, or online learning. But no, there is no such thing as an online GED "diploma"...you need to take the official GED test. Edited to add: the GED classes are free thru Paulding Adult Ed. The actual test costs around $100.
  16. It will be interesting to see how one explains the Homestead Exemption.
  17. Some rental companies offer a decent discount if you pre-pay. I just rented with Budget and saved $100 by prepaying. Also, if you are a USAA member, you can save up to 25% by entering their discount code number when booking through Enterprise, Hertz, Avis, and Budget.
  18. We had two days of sun and got to beach for a lazy day getting some sun. And then the sky fell out and all I got to do was watch the Androscoggin River flood its banks. I got home last night I did manage to get 8 bottles of Moxie home in my suitcase though so it wasn't all bad.
  19. I just returned from a five day too long, five day trip to the inlaws in Maine. We usually do the trip once a year. Ugh. I love them, but I hate going house to house to visit extended family who don't care enough the rest of the year to call, write, text, email, etc. We always do the traveling to see family. I get so tired of it. We usually fly my Mom down here from Chicago for a week or so at a time. Edited to add: when we visit out of town, we stay in a hotel. But when family visits us, they stay in my home since we have plenty of room for them.
  20. It could be worse, you could be a Cubs fan Ahhh, the lovable losers.
