  1. Does anyone know if a military ID with SS# will work instead of the SS card?
  2. There were about 20 people the second time we went to vote today LOL. It took us awhile, but finally my DH got to cast his vote. He was mailed a ballot in Afghanistan but hasn't been there since March. So we had to go to the Board of Elections office, get an affidavit canceling his absentee ballot and then go back to vote. I always thought that you had to request an absentee ballot every election, guess not They just keep mailing them until you stop it. Lesson learned.
  3. Why give them the attention they want? If people would stop talking about them, perhaps they'd go away.
  4. Which is EXACTLY what happened to my nephew. Why wouldn't a child AND their family who has gone through hell and back deserve a dream vacation??? That father is an ass. When a child has WBC counts too low they cannot go out in public, in large crowds, or be near people who might even have so much as a sniffle. How would a terminally ill child be able to truly enjoy Disney, or any other vacation for that matter? Better to go when they are healthier if possible.
  5. We have Netflix now and although I love the documentaries, I don't watch it much anymore. DH and I LOVE Showtime and still pay for it on cable. I'd love to cut the cord and just use our Roku if we can get more recent Showtime series.
  6. Do any of them have the current shows from Showtime (Dexter, Weeds, Homeland, etc)?
  7. My nephew's second wish was a trip to Hawaii. But he said he wants something that will last even if he isn't around
  8. How was it free, if he donated it? And any restaurant who donates their food does so because they CHOOSE to. In return, the cops show up more often, hopefully keeping the criminals away from the cash register. I swear some people go around looking for things to be offended or disturbed by. To each their own I suppose.
  9. What type of "returning favors" are we talking about here? People get out of tickets everyday because of who they are, what they look like, who they know, etc etc. Now if it's serious charges, totally different. But if you have to worry about cops turning a blind eye to serious charges, then Hiram needs all new officers that can actually be trusted.
  10. What's so disturbing about it? Heck, if they get money from sponsors to help defray the costs, what's the big deal?
  11. My nephew is in the process of getting his "wish" from the Make A Wish Foundation (Florida chapter). It is NOT strictly for terminal children, otherwise, what kid or parent would want it? It'd be like the grim reaper showing up to give you your last wish. Ick. Plus, it's a lengthy process to receive the final wish. Many kids unfortunately, do not get their wish before dying. However, many are healthy enough to finally go on the trip they wished for, or in my nephew's case, go out on his pontoon boat. The Georgia chapter of Make A Wish has a backlog of almost 600 cases and is in dire nee
  12. I don't think it's just a "Middle Eastern" thing. Plus, I never stop at gas stations to use the bathroom...that's what McDonald's are for
  13. That reminds me, has anyone tried making brownies with black beans instead of oil, etc? I could not believe how GOOOOOODD they were. Just buy any brownie mix and mush up a can of black beans and add the brownie mix. Sounds gross but WOW, VERY TASTY!
  14. Fage and Chobani come in different percentages, but I only buy the larger containers in plain flavor. So maybe the flavors are only in 0. Either way, I think zero percent is way better so good luck on the greek yogurt thing LOL.
  15. A list of average costs of utilities for the house will help the potential buyers.
  16. LOVE IT! But only the 0% fat versions. The 1% and 2% are wayyyyyyyyy too strong for me. I also can't stand the Yoplait, etc type of "yogurt" because it's all corn syrup and crud, there's pretty much no redeeming qualities to the American version of yogurt. I substitute the 0% fat Fage for sour cream and it's hard to notice the difference. I also use it when making tuna fish instead of mayo.
  17. Unfortunately, women are a woman's worst enemy in many situations. Hence the term, "frienemy". I'd most certainly let them know the nickname is inappropriate and unwanted. I do understand "good time friends" who are basically good for only that...having a good time. If witchy woman responds politely to your dislike of the term and knocks it off, I don't see the harm in keeping her as an arm's length "friend" for ONLY dancing, etc. But if she responds negatively then she needs to be GONE. Obviously you already know she'll never be your best buddy.
  18. Tommy is hanging in there still full of life and joy despite numerous hospital stays. His white blood cell counts have been low frequently with fever so his treatments have been delayed quite a bit. But he's still strong as ever and full of non stop energy. Hopefully he'll be done with his chemo in October ::fingers crossed:: He's waiting to get his "wish" fulfilled from Make A Wish...a pontoon boat so he can party with the family Sorry for the slight threadjack Tabby. But yeah, momof3 ROCKS!
  19. I third that she is GREAT! She made custom hospital gowns for my nephew who is battling Lymphoma and he smiles every time he wears them. I wish there were more people like her!!!!
  20. That first house listed has no flooring in the bedrooms http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/18-Southwind-Dr-Dallas-GA-30157/51194834_zpid/ But it could be a great investment for someone. Hmmm, how can it be a foreclosure and for rent?
  21. There are numerous veterans who have lost multiple limbs and you barely hear a peep about them. I agree with Momof3. If she weren't a blond haired and blue eyed young girl, it wouldn't made nearly as much news.
