  1. Really? I hadn't heard that. That's incredible, but I guess about par for the course in Hiram politics.
  2. They already had an election to replace her. Her husband won.
  3. There really are no direct benefits until you need Medigap Insurance other than a magazine. Until then, you are supporting an organization whose goal is to make our children pay for our comfort and lack of planning.
  4. If you are not really interested in getting the money from it and just want to get it recycled, Guard Dad may take it off your hands. PM him.
  5. I'm sorry, but this deadbeat dodged his creditors for seven years. He got a get out of jail free card from the State. He chose to give it back. HE borrowed the money, and just because the government says that the creditor can no longer sue to get the money back, it does NOT say that the debt is no longer owed. I m 100% behind disclosure. I believe that setting the minimum limits for clear disclosure is a valid function of government. It prevents fraud, and a free market abhors fraud. I do not believe that any debt should ever be wiped off the books, and in fact it isn't, the creditor'
  6. Legalize it and tax profits at 40%.
  7. Very sorry to hear this. Sometimes it seems like there is a dark cloud over everyone ever in any way connected to the band.
  8. Unfortunately, he has spent most of it on attorney fees.
  9. I generally agree, but the Muffaletta at Cajun Cookin' was outstanding. I.m glad to see them moving to a bigger place too.
  10. That's absolutely true. The prices at the Walmart across the street would rise immediately after K-mart closes. It is obvious that Walmart charges less when they have competition close by. Just compare prices between the 120 store and the 278 store some time.
  11. Actually. Eddie Lampbert basically bought K-mart out of bankruptcy and merged them both into Sears Holdings. They are now ostensibly a real estate investment and a hedge fund vehicle for Mr. Lampert. He sees it as an investment in real estate and intellectual property more than a retail operation, and has concentrated on those two aspects of the corporation to create any shareholder value. Maybe somebody finally pointed out the fact that his stores suck, and he had better do something about it.
  12. Exactly what job growth? the drop in the headline unemployment percentage was due almost wholly to a decrease in the number of people looking for work because they flat gave up. The US population increased by 1.5 million this year but the labor force actually declined. We have yet to achieve the magic 150k number of new jobs necessary to sustain that population growth. Excluding airplanes and defense spending, capital orders actually dropped 1.2 percent, and this is after Japanese auto production has recovered from the earthquake. While the PMI rose very slightly in November, it is still
  13. Well if you are wondering how much money our Federal Government is really spending, keep on wondering. The GAO, the accounting department and fiscal watchdog of the US government, said in a press release that the books are indecipherable. As was the case in 2010, the main obstacles to a GAO opinion on the accrual- based consolidated financial statements were: (1) serious financial management problems at the Department of Defense (DOD) that made its financial statements unauditable, (2) the federal government’s inability to adequately account for and reconcile intragovernmental activity a
  14. If the incandescent bulb factories were union you can bet your sweet bippie that we would be knee deep in them until electricity became obsolete.
  15. It may be impolite to speak publicly about the size of the first lady's derriere, but the man certainly didn't lie. When you put yourself out there as a public figure (no pun intended) who is schooling the nation on nutrition, you might want something thin besides your skin. She looks a lot more like Wendy Williams than Beonce, and they both got booty. Maybe "The Shake Shack" has something to do with it. I'm just sayin'....
  16. BOA is very much preparing itself for a huge public bailout. It has transferred substantial derivative risk from the Merrill division to it's retail banking operation (with treasury and FED approval), and this little hit to the bottom line is just what the doctor ordered on paper. There are a lot of factors that will go into the decision, but when you consider that you and I are the ones who insure BOA against losses like this, then thanks to Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, this may not be at all what it seems. Several banking and bankruptcy analysts have stated that a government orchestrated r
  17. That's why I never pay attention to the NAR numbers. They are a trade association with a dog in this fight. Their outlook was always rosier than the Case Shiller Report. Now who wants to talk shadow inventory?
  18. Forestry is the second largest industry in the state and is responsible for $15 Billion in Revenues. The WFPA is one of the largest lobbying organizations in the state. I'm sure that had nothing to do with it though.
  19. I think that there are a lot of serious people giving Tebow way too much uncalled for grief. But this was comedy, and it was actually funnier than most of the drivel on SNL. I didn't see any meanness in it at all. There is an important, discernable difference between irreverence and disrespect, and this didn't cross that line.
  20. It is very likely that T-Mobile will depart the US market entirely. They first tried to sell to Sprint, but there were technical problems merging the two networks. They then tried AT&T, and the Government prevented it. Verizon doesn't really need the spectrum. T-mobile's parent company has been in limbo waiting on this deal, and will not likely now invest in a fourth generation network here. It is still a two horse race between Verizon and AT&T. All that happened here was that the government chose Verizon as the winner, because AT&T will have to manage traffic by increasing
