  1. Years ago, we carved a pumpkin and lived in one of those older ranch style homes with a "picture" window in front. We proudly displayed our pumpkin in the window. Since we always arrived via the driveway and garage; didn't really observe our pumpkin display very often. But opened the drapes one day to find this shrunken, nasty, collapsed "thing". I am thinking the people passing by thought we had a very sick idea of observing the holiday. LOL.
  2. Or a German maid; or an Italian maid - any maid would do!! And if that pup comes into the house with that snout full of dirt - I know someone else who will need a maid!!!!!!!
  3. Gave me a good laugh while taking a break from cleaning the house!! Very cute! Gotta love 'em.
  4. Wine!! LOL Haven't had this for years; but we used to drink hot spiced rum at tennis matches. It was a mixture of ice cream or cool whip and yummy spices - oh . . . and RUM! And Irish coffee is NICE! Wine - oh, I already said that!
  5. I love to embrace the diversity of this board. Really - so many different views - how great is that. I read one post and think - yeah! that's good; then I read another and think - yeah! that's good, too!! This is what makes us grow!!
  6. I would try kudzu.com to get some good reviews. It really is not all that expensive.
  7. That was great advice - and might I also add to remember to get the fireplace cleaned from time to time!!
  8. Oh yes, grandgirls coming tomorrow and I am thinking s'mores!! But that is for dessert; after lasagna!! A lovely cozy fire sounds so wonderful!!
  9. Yep! That's it! Thank you very much!!
  10. Has anyone here done Polar Express? I think I waited too long to make the reservations but not sure of the closest location so I can check.
  11. I get Pottery Barn catalogues for ideas and then buy cheap stuff at Walmart, Target, Dollar Store, Garage Sales, antique stores, HOme Goods, Ross, etc. Three old books (cheap at an antique store) on top of each other, slightly askew, with a candle on top (in a holder, of course). Good luck.
  12. They are ET antennae; this is a trick to get everyone to stand them up so "other beings" can make the connection necessary to guide them in. Be prepared - UFO to be landing in Paulding County - ET is coming back! LMAO
  13. Lots of prayers for her; and you and your family. May God wrap his loving arms around you and give you peace and strength.
  14. Daily or weekly specials - do you plan on bagels? I know that those are hard to offer if they don't sell daily; but wonder if they are possible? I am so looking forward to the coconut cake - please open tomorrow.
  15. Last time I couldn't make it to work and was boxed in between Hiram and Douglasville. I don't want to get stuck on the wrong side of Hiram since I am already at work. I just need to be able to get from 278 to Ridge Road
  16. House was filthy - I think it was the dirtiest it has been in the 3 years since I bought it. So I cleaned! But it was so nice to open the windows and let the fresh air come through. I didn't get everything done that I wanted to; but it was a productive day. Took a few breaks here on the board just to give myself a break. It was a beautiful day!!!!!!
  17. 17 months ago, my brother lived through an accident because of the seat belt and the air bags; the other driver did not - his air bags did not deploy. My daughter sat in the back seat - passenger side, until she was at least 14 - extreme; I know, but that is the safest position in the car. Statistics support the seat belt and the position in the car; it just makes sense.
  18. I did add beer - a Heiniken, no less (and spelling doesn't count).
  19. Oh good Lord! Prayers going! I am speechless. This is the time to trust that God knows his plan even when we can't imagine what it is.
  20. Am I confused? This isn't the family that just lost their grandson is it?
  21. Oh, great job!! I think one of those outfits came from my closet! LOL! They looked darling.
  22. I worked in an ER many years ago - and unless they have extra people who aren't busy; they don't communicate with the family much at all - but what I will say is that the staff is working hard to save a life and treat the patient. Another point is that there are only certain personnel that are permitted to talk to the family. Prayers for the families of these victims on Nebo.
  23. The chile was great last night - for the first time I added Rotel. Also used cumin, tomato soup, beer, and the usual onions, gr beef, etc. Served it with shredded cheese, crackers, and sour cream. The only problem is that is woke me up several times with indigestion reminding me I ain't as young as I used to be. Thanks for the ideas!
  24. I have used some ideas from several of these and gotta tell ya; it is tastin' gooooood.
