  1. May God wrap his arms around this family to give comfort and peace. I did not know this young man but it hurts my heart when someone so young is lost.
  2. I squinted and saw a flake fly by my window; he looked like he was traveling alone.
  3. I often post for prayers for my brother; on disability and in the hospital about every 3 or 4 weeks; always needing prayer. Amidst all this he found a "love". Tonight was the night for the "big question". So he makes major plans at his local Longhorn's restaurant (in another state). People would just "arrive" at the table and give her a rose; and then finally a bouquet of 6 roses to add to the 6 roses she already has (I am taking credit for this idea). So she is like "very confused" and so then he pops the big question. All is wonderful. She says "yes". AND then . . . .. he forgot hi
  4. Oh yes, always. Part of the fun is looking at the wrapped gifts under the tree and someone has to distribute them to the right person. You get to open the "surprise". I can't imagine not wrapping. It is part of the mystique of the season. My ex tried the not wrapping thing with my dd when she was a teenager and she was deeply hurt. Part of the gift, in our family, is to take the time to wrap that special purchase for the person you love.
  5. I am a last minute girl. Much of what I do is online; but when I do shop, I love the hustle and bustle of the season. I sort of enjoy the excitement.
  6. Bring it on; bring it on!! I love snow (I'm a transplanted yankee). I love the beauty of it clinging to the branches on the trees and bushes; the warmth of the fireplace, the camaraderie of neighbors helping neighbors; the sounds of kids trying to sled or build a snowman! A nice excuse to snuggle inside with a book, a fire and a hot bowl of soup. Bring it on!
  7. It's illegal to fire a woman for being pregnant, but it does happen. Thousands of women who are pregnant or new mothers file charges every year with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). This is the federal agency that protects you from job discrimination. Federal and state laws make sure that Americans are able to have children without losing their jobs. Discrimination against you because you are pregnant violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Under this law, employers who have at least 15 workers are not allowed to: Refuse to hire a woman because of pregnancy; or F
  8. Just now hitting here; just off Ridge Road. I didn't realize we were expecting another storm!
  9. Hey thar big fella - no rainin' on my parade!
  10. Happy Dance - I hope we get enough to at least cover the trees and ground. It is so pretty. Woo Hoo!!
  11. Well said; and B4 we all get started; I am a strong believer in God. I know quite a few people who get excited about the male/male, female/female thing who tell lies every day of their lives; gossip constantly, pass judgement, covet their neighbors stuff, etc. I also could care less if two adults consent to tie the knot. I would rather spend my time opposing child molesters, animal abusers, and people who treat the aged with abuse or disrespect.
  12. So scary! I hope this has a good ending. I must have come through there just minutes before it happened. Keep us updated.
  13. Not today - about another week or two for me. I love decorating; it is the UNdecorating that I hate. Mine never has a theme; very traditional but we like it. Great decision for the family and memories today; let us know how the boys react! I remember when youngest went off to college; she was disappointed because she wouldn't have an Easter Basket and a Cadbury egg; how funny - you think they outgrow that stuff; but I guess they never do!
  14. Lots of leftovers today. We had mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy for breakfast. I will freeze some and make Turkey Tetrazini casserole on Sunday (not spelled right!)
  15. You did it!! I forgot all about the cranberry sauce. We will not be eating until about 2:00 but I totally forgot I had cranberry sauce. LR - I have a small folding table that I always use for big meals. It comes in very handy so I can get all the food out! I put a "purty" table cloth on it; some flowers and a candle and it looks great!
  16. Very beautiful! there are probably a lot of people in Minnesota who would love to see such a beauty in their yard today.
  17. As I pulled in about an hour ago, 3 police cars pulled in and a 4th joined them later. I didn't want to ask alot of questions but the staff at the register said someone stole someone's purse and they caught the thief. I know none of the details; but they said someone "tackled" the thief (don't know if they were kidding.) Uh - oh. Seems like someone might not be sitting at the holiday table tomorrow but eating dinner in the "clinker".
  18. Now that is a great holiday story! Neighbors and family all working together! Thanks for sharing that story.
  19. My cooking is for tomorrow, tonight was a sandwich for me. Still have a cake to bake and stuff the big guy!
