  1. I'm not crazy about it; but I surely do not get offended. I personally can't write it that way; but would never pass judgment on someone else for it.
  2. My goodness, these are some great ideas! I must run to the store today and get some dried beans. I don't think I have enough ham left to try out all these recipes. The breakfast one sounds so good and I already have some potato soup in my fridge; think I'll add some ham. Thanks everyone!
  3. You can bet Lucy crossed that bridge into a meadow with lots of friends to greet her! My Major is up there and he'll make a great friend. But so sorry for your loss; the passing of a friend is so very hard. Take care.
  4. Usually around New Years Day; but this year, youngest DD from NYC is coming into town first week of January so might keep it up. I LOVE decorating but HATE taking it down and putting it away; so not sure the tree will make it that long; it starts to get on my nerves and I get anxious to get back to normal.
  5. Leftovers!! I made a beef roast the other day - wonderful!!!!! I seared the roast on stove top, then put into the crock pot with lots of pan drippings; added a can of Golden mushroom soup that makes an incredible gravy. Added whole baby carrots - it fell apart and also had mashed potatoes. So this may be the reason why I am a "big" girl.
  6. Oh, I use the meat, too. I just use the bone to boil for flavor - split pea soup is a good one; but my family gets crazy over bean soup! Ooh, this makes me hungry for soup!
  7. I didn't think about adding peanut butter; I will do that. I used to store my bird feed outside in a large container with a lid - Someone or SOMETHING kept pulling the lid off and helping themselves. LOL. Never did figure out who the culprit was!
  8. I also plan to freeze some. I will probably also freeze the bone for some soup.
  9. I was thinking of mac and cheese with ham or scalloped potatoes with ham. Any other ideas?
  10. So glad you reminded me!! I just bought a new bag of bird seed and didn't put it out yet. I shall do so tomorrow. I would do more but sometimes afraid I will attract some unsavory types into my space; and with 8 domestics, worry about their safety.
  11. Well, oldest darling granddaughter tried getting up at 1:30, then 4:00, then 6:00; and we finally agreed to 7:30. LOL. Fun morning for all - presents; even for the dogs and cats; big breakfast. Everyone still in jammies. There are two cornish hens in the crockpot and a ham in the oven. What a lovely day!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!!
  12. Today at the Walmart on Dallas Hwy - they caught some guy and I mean he kicked up a real fuss. They had to take him down to the floor and he was screaming up a storm. The called the police and an ambulance. On Thanksgiving eve, I was at Kroger when two girls stole a purse. Get a job, people!!! So I am guessing this young man will spend Christmas eve in jail like the girls spend the night in the clinker the night before Thanksgiving. How sad!! Where is personal honor; integrity? Sorry, just had to rant about the unpleasantness on a wonderful day!
  13. Orrby is correct about the water; it should be cool; not hot. I would guess it would be thawed by morning. Enjoy!
  14. Hey, I am also in Buckingham - small world; but I didn't see the accident. I wonder why people don't recognize that stop sign!!
  15. I just laugh! If it requires two legs and one hand to walk - their loss; the rest of his figured out how to do it with just two legs!
  16. Thank you!! I have been out of touch with out of town guests!! That was really nice of you!
  17. Just curious what you are planning. A small gathering at my house with ham and all the wonderful sides and a great cake from the Bumble Bee Bakery. How about you?
  18. I, too, did most of my shopping on line; easy!!!!!!!
  19. I think I am finished but will do a quick inventory tonight as I finish wrapping. Tomorrow is food shopping for the dinner and might pick up few new stuffed animals for my pups to destroy
  20. Ritz or Town house cracker; cream cheese swirled on top, shrimp on top - sprinkle with lemon pepper. You can use unseasoned shrimp or lighly sautee them in some type of McCormick seasoning (Luau is great). Block of cream cheese served with green pepper jelly and crackers.
  21. Yes you can. Google "sausage balls with bisquik" and they have several recipes listed
  22. I would do it a different day; kids are too little to understand; we did it one year for Thanksgiving. DD was in the Macy's parade so we delayed it by a day so she could fly home and spend a family day. The thought is to celebrate a day together.
  23. I swear I am going to buy a boat and call it Noah's Ark taxi service!!
