  1. BAHAHAH!!! Pcom, you never let me down!
  2. I agree, I STILL think it's totally sketchy, and I had a friend who actually worked for them! I mean seriously, no one would every buy anything from someone that creeps them out!! I really don't know what this company was thinking when they thought this type of selling was a good idea... Maybe in the 1940's, but not in today's world. This ain't Pleasantville.
  3. My friend from college worked for a academic book company one summer while we were at college. They shipped her and her selling team (ie, I think there were five of them all around the 18-20 age group) out halfway across the country to live with a host family for the summer. (kind of like a foreign exchange student would). They would sell K-12 study guides door-to-door basically from sun-up to sun-down and would have to carry all of their sample books with them. They did this for three months straight!! She hated it, but just did it for the commission check! As for the "gathering i
  4. OMG Landmark Diner is the worst place in Rome to eat... :bad: Our first (and last) time there was a very interesting experience... never again.
  5. Rose Hall on 61N is gorgeous! I recently went to a wedding reception there and have never seen so many rose bushes in my whole entire life! Their facility is beautiful.
  6. Do you mean Harvest Moon? That place is to die for!! It feels like you are in Buckhead, not Rome. BlueFin Grill is excellent also for dinner. For lunch Shroeder's Deli or Jefferson's are both great. Jefferson's has great wings and fried pickles.
  7. Another tip on keeping the Peace of Pcom: If your dog/cat/rabbit/goldfish has babies and you post them on PCOM, they better be free. Same goes for children.

    PC or Mac

Yep, My Mac Powerbook is a 2003 model!! Still works just as good today as the day I got it! I did have to replace the power charger due to a puppy thinking it was a chew toy (which was not covered by AppleCare for obvious reasons). ;-)
  9. Really?? I surely would of thought somewhere in NJ would have been before us... It's ok, I can say that, my dad's originally from NJ. hehe Lets just say that visiting that side of the family is not the most pleasant experience!!
  10. Just saw this on the news. It's over, CobbPD told them to either get someone to direct traffic or shut it down. Two stations got into a gas war... $.50 a gallon at Shell then Marathon dropped theirs to $.40 a gallon. Lasted five hours, not too shabby! One guy said he filled up his 33 gallon Suburban tank for $14!!

    PC or Mac

I currently have both, and I would go for a Mac over a PC any day of the week. You get what you pay for!! I made the mistake of getting an HP laptop last August (during tax free weekend) to run a program I needed that was PC only. I have had more problems with that computer than I have ever had with one of my Macs! Plus, I don't know if it is just Vista, but everything is HORRIBLY hard to figure out as far as the operating system goes. Something that should take 20 seconds to figure out seems to take 20 minutes. In my book PC stands for Piece of Crap, but that is just my experience.
  12. OMG, she is so so so cute!!! I love the one in the purple hat, she looks so precious in that one!
  13. We have CobbEMC and our bill has never been this high as this past month... $280 when it is normally around $120-$140 in the summertime. It more than DOUBLED!! And we have done nothing different... Our A/C is programed to come on/off at certain times of the day, and we normally keep it between 78-80 during the day and 76 at night. We have the energy efficient bulbs and appliances, and I still can't understand how it could DOUBLE from last month to this month. If anyone figures this mystery out, please let me know.
  14. Haha!! Just keep it and the next time you go out for drinks throw it down on a Budweiser. The frogs would appreciate that! Totally what I did as well!! My husband probably thought I had lost my effin' mind running in with a furbaby under each arm (one, I might add, is 35 lbs!)! Glad I'm not the only one! Google is a great thing! I was able to rule out Bigfoot, so that is all that really mattered. haha! You are seriously too much!! lol
  15. I found it!! Apparently, there are two Barred Owls dating in our back yard... It's their "courtship" call that I heard. Definitely did not sound like a normal owl at all! Ours sounded even a little deeper than the mp3 they have on the website. Just so you all don't think i'm nuts, here is the audio file: http://www.owlpages.com/sounds/Strix-varia-1b.mp3 Thanks for the suggestions, and the laughs! Pcom is great!
  16. Dude, if it is, that would just be hilarious. I don't think I would ever live that one down. This thing sounds HUGE though... and loud... and mammal-like... and ferocious... and... and... and it sounds like it would want to eat my dog as a snack! Ok, off to listen to more frog sounds online...
  17. I checked out all of the Georgia Frog/Toad calls on this website... crazy sounding stuff, but not the "eeyore" call that I heard. It almost sounds like a sound a moose would make (obviously we don't have those here! Ha!) http://wwknapp.home.mindspring.com/GAFrog.Toad.html The BullFrog does have a very interesting call! I would have never thought that they sounded like that! ETA: We have tons of frogs/toads too... this definitely doesn't sound like your normal "outdoorsy" noises. We have lived here for three years, and I have lived in Georgia for 25+ and I have NEVER heard anythi
  18. On two separate nights over the past two weeks I have heard the weirdest sounds coming from the woods behind our house (We live on 2.5 acres and most of it is wooded). Obviously it is so sort of animal, but I have honestly never heard anything like it before!! It's freaky! The "call" lasts about two seconds and has very low/deep sounding tones to it. Phonetically it sounds like you are saying "Eeyore" in a very deep animal voice (crazy, I know, but that is the best I can describe how it sounds). It's pretty loud (like it came from a larger animal). I've been researching/listening a
  19. Everytime we are in Charleston we always walk around the open air markets... some cool stuff, some junk, but it is always a fun time. As for eats, Jestine's Kitchen is a must!! They could wallpaper their walls with the issues of Southern Living they have been written up in. It's rather impressive. The fried green tomato sandwich with roasted red pepper mayo is one of the best things I have ever eaten in my whole entire life!! For seafood we always go to Hymans Seafood, but i'm sure there are others that are great as well.
  20. My sister made Avacado Hummus for Fathers Day and it was awesome!! I bet spinach hummus is great too! The only drawback is they both resemble baby poop... Once you get over that you are good to go! hehe
  21. and the funniest part is I totally didn't think of the alternate meaning of "melon" when I posted this!!! Lol
  22. CANTALOUPE!!!! Seriously, we stopped by West Metro Meat Market today and had to pick our jaws up off the floor. This sucker weighted 11.7 POUNDS!! (the picture doesn't even do it justice!) And it was only $3! I bet they sing to their fruits and veggies when they have a break between customers... that is my only explanation! Anyways, they had a bunch, so if you need a conversation piece for the 4th of July go get one!
  23. This is going to make for a great story when she becomes president some day... hehe
  24. Jenna is such a cute name! Congrats to the whole family!
  25. I was thinking the same thing... Even back in the 80's when I was in dance (tap/jazz/ballet) our costumes were no worse (or better) than these on this video. When I watched the video, I didn't see "7 year olds parading around in lingerie" like the headline reads... All I saw was a group of little girls on a dance squad doing one heck of a job at their sport. But then again, that is just me. I think that the difference between now and 20 years ago is that we have "evolved" our society into one that is so overly sensitive to anything related to minors, which sometimes causes us to make a
