I made pumpkin pies and an apple crisp last night ... However, my son saw the picture of the pecan pie on Garden and Gun magazine this month and said he would buy the pecans if I will make one!

This from GE.... Look up the brand you have they may have specific instructions ... the three that said let it sit for about 24 hours if it has to be on it's side matches what GE says. Refrigerator - Moving Instructions All Monogram™ refrigerator models must, if transported in a vehicle, be in an upright position under all circumstances. An installer can remove the skid underneath without laying the unit down. However, it can be tilted back when placed on a dolly to take into the home. Details are listed in the installation instructions included with the product. When moving o

Do you ever smell cigarette smoke in your house..........
Gone replied to Mrs G's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I have a friend whose house smelled like cigarette smoke up stairs around the laundry room every now and then. Finally we figured out that a shopping sack she had hanging on the door knob behind the door that she used to discard her dryer lint smelled like cigarettes. We could not figure out if the ink on the bag, the plastic of the bag, or if the bag was around a smoker prior to her bringing it home? Once she threw it out, no more mystery smell! -
It is hard to start with basically an adult and re-parent them. Lifestyle and eating habits contribute to our health and weight. The good news is he will have a new environment. If the mom used to just provide junk to eat, and no healthy snacks. Hopefully in your home he will be provided balanced well cooked meals, with other healthy snacks available such as fruit and veggies. If I have a bowl of watermelon cut up and out on the counter, my family will grab pieces and snack on it. They snacked on grapes I had washed in a bowl Saturday. I know in our house I can buy the fr

Sorry that happened to you. Eggs are not funny... teenage boys don't always think smart... that's why we have curfews for teenagers. Eggs chemically will ruin the paint on a car and other things. They are also hard to clean up off any surface once dry. I have a brother ten years younger than I am. I told him when he was at “that age” that if he and his friends were going to "prank" each other ...Toilet Paper the house, use a bar of soap to write on the car windows, but never EVER use eggs. I have stressed the same with my sons... Now they have stuff to write on car windows tha

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Nice of the State to make sure you dread your birthday coming around each year huh? I still don't get why we don't register our car annually on the date we PURCHASED the car? We were looking at the Autobuffs Express...the one that looks like a barn in Hiram on 278. They are $20, but you get a free $12.00 car wash. They told hubby you can also choose to get a token, so you can use the car wash later when you want. They only do models 1996 and newer. http://www.autobuffsexpress.com/index.htm I have a 1994 that I bought new that my teen son uses no

As in some new carpet and replace the kitchen linoleum. The house is $745,000 and they can’t afford some new carpet!
-
Ain’t that the truth! Hubby loves those shows, and to tell the truth if I have to watch one more idiot whine about a house she can't live in because the appliances aren't stainless ...well ... I don't watch anymore...it would be dangerous for all those involved! Or, each room they walk into they repeat the SAME PHRASE. As in "Oh, this is nice." I wonder - if the shows don't work out, will they will bring back the soaps?
-
I'm sorry, that sucks! I would put it back further from the curb if this is something that keeps happening.

Well at least it is not how to: Flip a house, Buy a house, Remodel a house, Decorate a house, Undo a remodel someone else messed up ... Aren't there enough DIY channels on Cable? It would be nice to see something fresh and new, but truly what can you have on 5 days a week?

I thought AMC -American Movie Classics was going off the air! AMC is a cable television specialty channel that primarily airs movies, along with a limited amount of original programming. The letters originally stood for American Movie Classics; however since 2002, the full name has been deemphasized as a result of a major shift in programming.[1][2] AMC is owned by AMC Networks and signed on October 1, 1984.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_(TV_channel) I thought how did I miss hearing about that. I'm sorry for you guys that the soaps are being cancelled. I wondered

Maybe that is a good thing... I always hated to throw them out because they were so well made. When my kids were little they kept their "treasures" in them. I just threw them out when they were older ... Hubby drinks Gentleman Jack now, so I haven't had to worry about the pretty blue bags! -
Four years ago, my younger child who was a middle schooler at the time, came home and said that Hitler was a good man... that he wanted good for his people. Since the teacher was not using a textbook (this is when my frustration started)... only power points that she developed, and whatever else she could put in slides (that she never gave copies to the kids,) I have no idea what the lesson was. I tried to undo what he obviously misunderstood. I figured the teacher must have told them about the propaganda Hitler used to have the people accept him. In the end I sent an e-mail

The fact Georgia uses “Standards” that the teachers have to pull out of whatever resources they can find so the kids can pass the CRCT annoys me. I know I am old... but I liked it when my child had a text book he could bring home. We could read the chapters, discus the material, quiz him and he was prepared for the information. All the information that was age appropriate and that needed to be learned in that grade was in the text book. At the beginning of the year they started with chapter one and moved through the book chapter by chapter. By the end of the year the kids wer

All American Repair Appliances Same day service 770-421-8622 The owner is the repair tech ... I have used him since 2001. He is honest. Four years ago I had moved my washer to get behind it and noticed some oil on the floor under it. He came out and told me that the transmission was going bad. He told me I could probably get 4 to 6 months out of it and look for a deal on a new washer, or he said he could replace the transmission; however the expense and the age of the washer it might be to my advantage to buy a new one. He then said, if you want to think ab

Did you all also forget about the 6 month "Consulting Agreement" Jerry Shearin entered into with Patricia Crook - Comptroller for Paulding County and the County Administrator of Paulding County - on December 12, 2008 for $49,342.00? He kept it under $50,000 so the Board of commissioners would not know about it... Shearin had authority to authorize funds up to $49,999. Pat Crook was paid to keep quiet from the time she resigned December 31st, 2008 until Friday, May 29th 2009. Part 4 of the agreement states: "As a result of payments hereunder, and the execution of this a

She backed Paulette Rakestraw-Braddock ...Thanks Virginia. Remember at the meetings Virginia got up to clarify what Paulette was too dense to make sense of? The IRS has a lien against Rep. Paulette Rakestraw-Braddock, R-Hiram, for $36,343 in unpaid income taxes for 2006 and 2007. She said she got behind on her taxes when her direct marketing business fell victim to the Great Recession.http://www.ajc.com/news/georgia-officials-past-due-1183242.html At least Virginia won't have to speak for Jerry ... he's a smooth talker ... who can lie without people even questioning him... and

How right you are ...watch who backs him. He is a parasite and his backers will be too. His quote from the article says it all.... But he added this thought. “It is my dream job,” Shearin said. He just dreams about how he can line his pockets as a congressman. Makes me ill thinking of it. I'm sure many have forgotten already why he was not re-elected.

Anybody else see how much our Female Representive owes in taxes

From the link Jenilyn posted: http://www.ajc.com/news/georgia-officials-past-due-1183242.html “It seems a bit hypocritical that they are out there making the laws and they are not abiding by them,” he said. It is not a new problem. Some legislators have pushed for a constitutional amendment to ban tax debtors from holding office. “Any elected official should be held to a higher standard,” said House Ethics Chairman Joe Wilkinson, R-Sandy Springs. “Any official who is voting on taxing citizens should be in compliance himself or herself. If you owe undisputed taxes, then you sh -
I guess some ladies need a urinal!!!! I put down a toilet seat cover or TP on the seat - and both the floor and seat are clean when I am finished!

Yep...that was sort of my point. I doubt Stan will have a license when he is 18 either... UNLESS he moves back to Bulgaria where he will be eligible at that time .

Well ... that would explain why every so often I go into a stall in the woman's bathroom and someone has peed all over the seat! ... and for that matter the floor!!!!!! How in the heck does anyone but a man end up with urine all over the seat where one’s cheeks should be, and on the floor? My first thought was ... I would not want my child who has to sit to pee having to share a boys bathroom. Has any parent looked into the boys bathroom stalls? Some elementary schools as you walk past the boy’s bathroom the odor of pee is so strong you know it has to be on the walls, f
