Phoenix, Arizona is currently 19% humidity, 104 degrees a heat index of 102. - per Weather Bug When we are this hot, there is usually no humidity ... now when we are in the 90's with 80% humidity it would be a heat index of 118 degrees. Look up heat index here:heat index If you want to play with temperature at different humidity levels here is a site: Heat Index Calcu
  2. I learned this one from a teacher, who HATED the kids writing alot. She stressed to the whole class when she saw it in a paper, "Two ...different.... words, A and LOT!" Since this was 6th grade...it always surprised me when adults used a lot in a written sentence and made it one word!
  3. Whatever way you chose your son will be fine ... buy some soft foods for the first few days, and all will be over before you know it! The valium prevents worry... that way they get a good night’s sleep, and they are not stressed the day of. My sons had wisdom teeth taken out by Dr. L Christopher Van Dewater, DMD Northwest Oral Maxillofacial Sgy - business member on p.com Dallas GA 30157 (770) 505-9100 Both sons had wisdom teeth out last summer in July using valium and Novocain...no sleep drugs. When I was a teen, I also had my wisdom teeth taken out this way - no sleep
  4. I KNOW Tabby used it correctly! That is her profession! She corrected the OP and added the hyphens. I would have never noticed it was done incorrectly by the OP. Obviously it is not a skill I have mastered. I thought Tabby might have some shortcut clues about when hyphens are used. I liked your Web site. I put it in my “Favorites” so I can refer to it in the future. After reading it, it is more complicated than I had hoped …as in: “Unfortunately, there is no definite rule to follow when it comes to hyphenating compound nouns. The best way to decide when to use a hyphen
  5. Hey, this is great! ...I have a question, since this IS your area of expertise. Why did you put a hyphen in between each of these word pairs? business-related higher-ups grammar-related As I said, if you are not aware of a rule, you will not see the error. Please tell me the rule, so I will be able to apply it in future writing. While you are at it, can you enlighten Johnny Novo when to use are vs. is? I did not even notice his last sentence where he had errors, which is plural, with is. Thanks!
  6. I remember when I was younger; the migrant workers in my state carried their green cards. What's so big a deal? "Green-card commuters," U.S. immigrants who lived in Mexico and commuted seasonally to U.S. farm jobs. There were several kids at the school where I taught who were most days late because they lived in Mexico, the dad worked in the US, and they crossed the border every morning ...often the wait at the border was longer than expected so they were delayed arriving at school. I will admit there were always jokes about people having their green card, or guest worker card ...
  7. Yeah, you know when he goes out to get an icecream ... he might be harassed... "But now suddenly if you don’t have your papers and you took your kid out to get ice cream, you’re going to be harassed." ~ 0bama April, 2010 Nah, he and Michelle like lobster ... not ice cream ...
  8. Everything 0bama is conservative....right? ... er, or would that be left?
  9. My son works at a B-B-Que place, and talk about stink and oil …even clean the clothes smell. He uses Dawn, Oxyclean, and detergent … better than detergent alone, however it still has “that” smell even after washing. I might go buy some …thanks for the tip! AND to the OP....Your title: Ladies, look who can help you out... in the laundry room... Funny...I would have him help out in a different room!!!!
  10. I bet her donors convinced her to run again with the promise they would raise enough to pay off her past campaign debt. My impression is that she is their puppet... I don't think she represents us ...she does what her puppeteers what her to do. Generally as a Representative the connections you make will assure some extra success in life. I suspect she plans to set herself up to use some of her influence to go on to more lucrative positions where she can make more money. That being said, I am not sure she is the type of "power broker" to parlay this position into bigger and better.
  11. Stop while you are ahead…. Your You’re (contraction of you are) right, but then this is not a business environment and I am not that concerned about a miss used misused word or dangling particles.
  12. You are figuring the person has the skill to identify these particular errors. Not to be snippy, however in your rant, you used loss instead of lose ... as in lose respect... Makes me loss lose respect for the person. In your first sentence you wrote: make sure there is no spelling or grammar related mistakes? Since you refer to two things it should have been are... make sure there is are no spelling or grammar related mistakes? I'm not great at writing; however we all have certain errors that bug us. It would be interesting to see what errors you find, that I might mi
  13. Does that mean we need to buy bread, eggs, milk, and TP. Wouldn’t want to go without French Toast for too long!
  14. You"re NOT nice! Weird how without remembering what, if anything happened, our bodies have aches and hurts. Chalk it up to being over 25. Riograce seems to have some good places to start. I agree on taking an anti-inflammatory like Aleve. (I like Aleve because it works for 8 or so hours)
  15. Good to hear all your thoughts. Thanks! Perhaps the fatal accident was the reason...We did not know about that... perhaps, it was just business as usual. That evening about 11:00 PM I gave someone a lift to their car using 120 and Bill Corruth PKWY. In less than 2 miles distance, there were a H.E.A.T. car and a Sherriff car looking for speeders- I suspect. One was sort of hidden behind the trailer that has a campaign sign on it sneaky!!! The other was near the hospital. As most have said... there are certain places they sit in wait for an unsuspecting speeder. If you are loc
  16. H.E.A.T. Unit Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic The H.E.A.T. (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) Unit was organized in November 2008 under a grant from the Governors Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The grant provides salaries for the Deputies and the funding for the patrol cars as well as all the equipment for the patrol cars and Deputies. The H.E.A.T. 17. Hubby said he saw a bunch of sheriffs and H.E.A.T. on 92 and Macland RD. Any one know what the are doing? Thanks!
  18. I agree ... Look what France did.... the people were asked to work 2 more years.... they voted in another leader! Now they are back to where they started. If anyone in the USA actually tries to make the suggestion to make adjustments to Social Security, that must be made, to once again be that safety net...they are mocked in commercials "wheeling grandma off a cliff." France to lower retirement age to 60 for some (AP) PARIS - France's new Socialist government moved Wednesday to lower the retirement age from 62 to 60 years old for certain workers, bucking a global trend in
  19. No, public ... but it was, and still is an excellent school. She used to tell us how she would buy all her groceries and cook and freeze all the meals for the month so she saved money and time. She was tough, but interesting, and a realist! She made sure we all knew how to sign up to vote ... and impressed upon us the importance of knowing what/who we were voting about and for! She stressed what a privilege it was to vote.
  20. Words of wisdome! We were over run with rats and mice from our fruit trees many years ago. The rats moved into our basement, and were in the crawl space once winter started. It took almost a year to get rid of all of them... as in I caught at least 27 in the traps in the basement over the winter! I had killed the snakes when I first moved here. That is when I realized if I encouraged the snakes and possums they would keep the bad critters at bay. No problems with rats and mice since I let the snakes live... I do re-locate them away from the house and down to the back where the wood
  21. Don't worry... none of us under 50 will see Social Security.... I remember in high school my social studies teacher explained to us that we better fund our own retirement. We were told that social security would be used up by the baby boomers retiring - there would be fewer paying in, too many drawing - and the government always spends more than it has. I'd say she was correct- but then I will have to waite another 2 decades to confirm this, I guess. So just chalk this up to additional monies you are TAXED ... because you know you evil working person (who does not want to b
