  1. I think it's still Kathy Cox, too...I could look it up, but that'd be cheating. RE: counties with one commish - I don't know how many, but I believe Bartow County is one. BTW - I think it's state School Superintendent instead of Sec. of Education.
  2. I totally agree on the Kroger comments!!! I love the Crossroads Kroger and any of the new ones, but DANG - it took them long enough to figure out that Publix was eating their lunch just on cleanliness, bright lights, and environment alone. DUH... And honey - if you think the Cartersville Kroger is ookie (and it is), you should see the one at Delk Road (corner of Powers Ferry and Delk)...whoa, nellie!!! Gangsta types with much gold jewelry lounging against the carts as you go in. ::runningscreamingintothenight:: P. S. I love Publix, too. I go back and forth since both are nearby. I
  3. Well, some folks say this is overkill (like my brother and a couple of friends), but after losing two computers to lightning strikes, I unplug everything when a storm comes up and when I'm going to be away from home for an extended period of time. (I'm a slow learner. ) RE: backing up - MAN, that is important. My brother (an even slower learner than me...heh) has lost three work computers in the last couple of years to viruses and whatnot (they are also lax about their security), and he also didn't have his data backed up. DOH!!!
  4. I agree...she seems like a really sharp girl. I wish them all the best.
  5. Well, dammit, you New Hope people best learn your lesson from this!!! Causin' all that rrouble and tyin' up 5 popo cars and whatnot. Crap, man - I hate when a neighborhood goes downhill like this.
  6. Oh, man...I hate to hear that. I wish them all the best...I hate when a dream dies.
  7. Dork slacker with a dork for a mother, sounds like.
  8. Well, not having tried most of these, I'd go for Surepip's recipe, because the dude knows from food. But anything Williamson's is good as well. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
  9. You know, I think that if trolls aren't fed, they tend to fade away into nothingness.
  10. I have flown both Delta and Southwest a good bit, and man, Southwest beats Delta by a mile on both flight times and attitude. Southwest actually thinks they should make flying fun, and that they should appreciate the passengers. From what I have observed, Delta apparently thinks that we are their staff and that they are doing us a favor by allowing us to pay them for their rudeness. I wish Southwest would start flying routes out of Hartsfield. When I have flown them, it's been out of Birmingham, which sounds weird, but considering traffic, parking, and the like, if you get a really good de
  11. There's a Mickey Spillane mobster? I was only aware of the mystery writer Mickey Spillane (apparently no relation, according to Wikipedia, which we all know is an infallible source...heh). Hmmm. But terribly sad for this dude, whosever son he was.
  12. And that took 5 SO cars to take care of? Good heavens. Slow night in Paulding County.
  13. Awww, bless your positive-thinking hearts. But actually, I don't vote party lines...I vote for the candidate, and will be checking into your position, Mr. Avery, closer to November.
  14. You only have one eye? Wait...or you could mean that you have two eyes and can roll one and not roll the other. Sorry...the debil made me do it.
  15. Yes, yes, I know. I worded that poorly, but I am still voting no.
  16. These repetitive posts are starting to remind me of those stupid vuvuzela horns at the World Cup. But whatever blows your skirt up, honey.
  17. Hey may have been French, but a classical liberal is one who believes in freedom, individual liberty, small government, etc. IOW, what is today known as a conservative. I will be voting NO on the SPLOST. I refuse to volunteer any more of my money to the government. If they want it, they'll have to come take it.
  18. I feel so sorry for people who have never tasted a heavenly ripe tomato in the summertime. And I just don't know what to think about those poor souls who have tasted one and don't like them...that is just WRONG! Of course, that does mean more for us...
  19. RE: fireworks being legal - IIRC, the only legal fireworks (for home use) in Georgia are the sparkler kind. There are some pretty slick ones of those, so it's not just the little tooky things, but the bigger kinds are not legal. Which I've never known any popo to enforce; in fact I know of several popos who shoot off their own illegal fireworks. I think it's a dumb law, but whatever. But I am such a fan of fireworks, when I see them, I want to see a professional job, where they do it up right. I'll be out of town on the 4th, and have already checked on fireworks schedules for where I'l
  20. Gotta go with Mom of 3 on this one. (Now, there's a surprise! ) As Dave Ramsey would say, the only way I can look at a situation is what would I do if I woke up in their shoes. So, if I were her parent, she would not be doing this. But then, if I were her parent, she wouldn't have ever starred in Hannah Montana, either. I believe kids should live ordinary, regular, kid lives, and that does not include being on a set x hours per day, followed by traveling the world over singing, etc. And that's not limited to music...I also wouldn't let my kid be an Olympian. I know that sounds weird an
  21. What raclay said. The only other thing I do is dump the warm water out after the 15-20 minutes and put them in an ice water bath for another 10 minutes or so. Keeps the shells from sticking so badly, I think.
  22. I think we are all intelligent enough to know that there are some bad apples in every barrel. Some folks are borderline or completely pathological and get off on that authority rush that comes with being a cop. I am just as leery as the next guy about coming into contact with such a person in x situation. (Which is mitigated by the fact that I mind my own bidness and keep my nose clean and don't have occasion to run into LE types most of the time.) But I daresay the vast majority of police officers are not Cartman-RESPECT-MAH-AUTHORITAH types. They are regular, decent, hard-working-for-to
  23. Huh. I always wondered what it was...couldn't figure out if it was a residence or what.
  24. wcso84 - dude, you are making entirely too much sense. Besides, the OP is telling more about herself than she is any so-called rogue policeman.
